  • difficulty level - asian

  • wait. lol. anyone notice that in this recet season, when they introduce the judges, someone always boos howie? You wanna know why? Cause he DOESN'T know talent. I lvoe him ,deal or no deal, mobbed, but just....ARGHH!

  • whats the name of the song??????\

  • Ahahahahaha. I was so happy he got booed silent.

  • He's amazing o.o

    but boring

  • 2:34, for a second I thought Piers was the one that buzzed

  • Boooooooo HOwie!!!!

  • Hi BuiAlexander :)

For props.. how about using piano with Cactus Keys ! that should impress howie

  • @J3ANP3T3R jajajajajajaja

  • I liked it, but I'm curious why you didn't pick a more expressive and technical song? I recorded that version of Bumble Bee when I was 14, and while it's quick and fun, it doesn't show off talent. I'm curious to hear why you chose it, Alexander.

  • @booya8858 Did you play it as quickly as he got it? It's a hard song for me!

  • Represent EHT

  • that being said, I've played the violin for 10 years, and was a member of a professional orchestra for 3 of those years, so I'm hardly deficient as far as my classical music training is concerned. anyone with any sense of musicality/trained ear should be able to discern this sub par noise from concert level piano playing.

  • Search "Bee (Vol du Bourdon)" and see a true pianist. And a bee.

  • Bang bang bang...this kid has no musicality and is only marginally proficient, technically. His playing is not even close to the level required to perform on national stage. mediocre recital calibre performance at best.

  • @wrathofskorm you should film yourself playing the piano, you know show us what a world class piano player is

  • @theKableX You don't have to be a world class piano player to know what constitutes good piano playing. It's amazing how many idiots respond with the typical 'let's see you do this yourself' rebuttals to legitimate critiques and think they're being clever.

  • when you said you would bring the roof down, i ducked and nothing happened

  • ALexander cant get a break like he's great why Sharon and peir gotta buzz!

O well he still better then the rest of them in my opinion.

  • Piers called Howie "Cultural Ignoramus". And I called or that screamed like he's a "Cultural Imbecile" like Chipps Cooney.

  • @TheMasterdj7 nobody thought it was funny 3 months ago, it's still not funny now

  • lol cutural ignoramus lol i love how the next episode he has a plack that says cutural ignoramus

    love the song

flight of the bumlebee is hard on the violin i cant imagine evan attempting it on piano

  • lol cutural ignoramus lol i love how the next episode he has a plack that says cutural ignoramus

    love the song

  • Hahaha a nice way to combine Rimsky-Korsakov's flight of the bumble bee...

  • YES ! DEFEND THE TRUE TALENT & CLASSICAL MUSIC PIERS !!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!.. this is a true talent, he should have at least stayed till the finals... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • Well, that's interesting, because the Chopin etude is much harder than this. Howie knew the difficulties of classical, the others didn't. He probably thought the kid should stick to classical, who knows.

  • Piers did called Howie "The Cultural Ignoramus". I also will say that Howie is a "Cultural Imbecile".

  • I think that he plays it a bit too fast...but that's just me.

  • @EmilyBearfan he only has 90 sec...

  • Excellent job Bui.....I had no idea you had that talent. Keep up the good work and dedication.

From Christian G's Dad in EHT :-)

  • @quiksillvr2 thank you :)

  • Howie needs a hearing aid obviously because that kid just played one of the hardest pieces of music perfectly!! Howie has got some serious problems obviously.

  • Howie makes me want to punch a baby, :P This kid has amazing talent and Howie needs to get over himself at how he most likely sucks at the piano and is jealous of Alexander.

  • Howie's got to many cleaning fumes stirring around in his body for him to recognize a talented performance by a pianist.

  • That being said, it was nevertheless the honor and privilege of my life to share my passion with America, the country I embrace and love, and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to represent a small portion of my being with such a grandiose and vanishing, truly rare endeavor. I extend my best wishes to Alex for his career and hope that someday, we can meet/reunite as proud alumni of Americas Got Talent. This is truly the greatest country on earth, & Ill always be Proud to Be an American.

  • And should relish and develop his innate talents and artistic genius through the guidance of his own training and personal sacrifices that have nourished what he's made of himself as an individual. Always stay true to yourself, no matter what or how you are influenced otherwise. In the end, what u make of your capacities will count far more than what any judgment or critic or poll or spectator will make of u or render u to be, for you are your own greatest critic and judge, & the world will see.

  • one should keep in mind, however, that such endeavors as AGT, though they are incredible experiences personally & are a tremendous opener to exposure & opportunity for publicity, are only one opportunity, & should not define or create a character for the participant. He must realize that such opportunities can sometimes distort an artistic image or disposition of a participant, & while they are sensational experiences, he must remain true to his uniqueness as an individual.

  • hey guys, Jeffery Ou here, remember me from season 4? Yea, I have to admit some judging isnt so 'accurate' or justifiable, as they are based only on what the person wants to see on stage..in my case, 1st a more "mainstream" act, then a "mad mozart" nonsense that didnt even make sense to what I actually do as a musician...its really all just for show, & subsequently an unbeknown audience is given sometimes- distorted criteria 2 evaluate. Props 2 Alex, though on a really good performance.

  • Brilliant performance, enjoyed it so very much. Howie was so wrong, he's to only judge on quality of talent, not who HE thinks should or might go on to win the show. It seems the judges are able to persuade viewers with ignorant opinions :)

  • the bumble bee boogie is ment to be played with a rythm i found that this song didnt have it, it almost seemed like he rushed it and it sounded aweful with some mistakes in it woulda been better if he didnt rush it

  • @dutchiscool well no offense dude, but you probably couldnt have done any better

  • wow

    thats talent

  • Howie was a doofus.

    You were GREAT!

  • Thanks for all the comments, love you guys! -Alexander Bui

  • @BuiAlexander OMG YOU ARE AWESOME !!!!!!!!!

  • @D30nn3TM thanks!

  • Howie Buzzed Him?

    But Not Mary Ellen?

    Really?

Oh well i still like him.

  • This time Howie acted like a retard.

  • Alex ignore Howie man. He doesn't understand that your mind is being split and forced to play those keys by reflex alone. The faster the playing the more strain it is. You got talent on loan from the divine. Don't let anyone tell you different.

  • amazing !

  • @sabrina945 thanks :D

  • You are one of the best piano players ever on the show! You deserved to be in the Top 10. Great Job!

  • Thank you guys for the comments, I appreciate it! -Alexander Bui

  • @BuiAlexander Don't listen to Howie. He doesn't know amazing talent even if it hit him in the face.

They say a musical prodigy comes up every ten years. You my freind, are that prodigy.

    You are a true Maestro.

  • pure talent.

  • totally disagree with howie!

  • kid is a GENIUS. fighting gravity? f*cking kidding me? FIGHTING GRAVITY is "cooler" compared to this MAGIFICENT piano master? Listen, it dosent take any talent to dress up in full body black and neon colored shirts and put on a techno song pretending to move tennis balls on sticks around.. Did you hear him? He dedicates his free time as a kid to follow his dream and play the piano. this kid is under appreciated. If anybody plays the piano or heck any instrument, you know the level of this piece.

  • @esmith911 yeah. I used to play black key etude (his first piece) and he was good. But the thing is, he can win big competitions. For music. Not agt. AGT has "cool" things like fighting gravity. Not "talent" like alexander. I personally like britain's got talent better...but im american.

  • @esmith911 well you can get your point across in a less cranky way.I totally agree with you.Alexander deserves to be known worldwide.Fighting gravity is an imaginative fun act.And it does take talent to have fighting gravity's act smooth while it goes on live, and hard to make it seem real.

Fighting gravity is a vegas show.

Mistro probably wouldn't do so well in vegas because people go to vegas to see magicians, established singers, comedians,La Nouba unfortunately,a piano concert isn't a vegasshow

  • you should play chocolate rain by tay zonday

  • Lol Piers just OWNED Howie

  • pursue your dreams alexander!

  • First Sharon buzzes him because she thought he was, and I quote, "Too Boring". Now, Howie buzzes him because he, quote, "Doesn't know if this is a vegas act". 2 things about this:

    1. Hasn't Howie said that SAME damn thing to practically every young contestant?

    2. Is it just me, or does anybody else here think that Howie should be fired from this show and be permanently BANNED from NBC altogether?

  • @OddOneOut665 i agree with you because howie is crap!!! bring in crappy people that dosent have talent and and buzzing talented people

  • OMG HOWIE YOU WHANT TO BUZZ THIS TALENTED KID BUT YOU WONT BUZZ THE LADY THAT PUONDS HER KEYBOARD ALL THE TIME MARY ELLEN TUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • He's like pressing every single key on the piano!! Howie's gone crazy. he is very talented =)

  • Hi Guys, it's alexander here, i just want to thank you for supporting me! -alexander bui

  • @BuiAlexander dude your extremely talent i dont know why Howie buzzed you but dint buzzed the girl that pounds her keyboard poor guy:( if you reply that will really kool lol your very inspiring i know how to play the keyboard but not good as you keep on doing the keyboard your super talented !!!

  • @BuiAlexander youre brilliant!

  • @BuiAlexander You did wonderful. Don't listen to Howie. He should be ashamed for buzzing you.

  • @ThePVGS1 no see i think ur wrong people always harp on the judges for buzzing people u know what its there job they are there to judge so if howie doesnt like it why should he put on a fake smile and pretend like he does? hes just doing his job leave the man alone

  • @dutchiscool That comment was over a month ago, and I left him alone for a month, so leave ME alone. Bye.

  • @BuiAlexander HEY I SAW U AT THE AIRPORT!

  • @oobakevin

I see him every day at school.

  • @BuiAlexander you are an amazing pianist it should have been you and michael grimm in the finals

  • @BuiAlexander Nice to meet you pal.

  • @BuiAlexander You are a great talent .... I am rooting for you! You are delightful, magnificent and like a breath of fresh air in AGT. I fully appreciate your dedication. God will have favour on you and will reward your sacrifices. Just don't let things get to your head. Keep the fire in your heart and let your playing hands do the expressing of that passsssioooonnnnn. All the best and God bless you and your family always. Have you insured your hands? What will you do with USD1M in case you win?

  • yes, I totally agree with you. I thought alexanders preformace was amazing, and by judging talent he was by far the most talented. howie, doesn't seem to like reagular talents they have to be irreagular for him to like them like fighting gravity.

  • I think any person can do Fighting Gravity stuff given the right props and number of persons carrying you...but I bet none of those can play the piano that well...Indeed, this is what real talent is. I think the title should be changed to America's Entertainer rather than Got Talent if the goal is always to "wow"?

  • ok wth did piers say? ...... a cultural ingorimus? wth does tht mean ???????

  • @DeckerX777 that means hes completely ignorant when it ocmes to other cultures basically saying hes ignorant

  • Sorry, I kinnnnd of agree with Howie a bit. It was good, but there were some sloppy bits. Instead of playing some fast piece, I think he should've played something people can really connect with. Ya know, get the audience and the judges on his side. It's not just about technical skill, it's about emotion.

Talent and dedication? Yes. But he's just not quite at a level yet that can compete with some of the other acts.

But that's just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

  • @Dfireanime13 i kind of agree with you Flight of the bumble bee is a hard piece but ive heard it done so many times i think he should have played something different but theres no doubt he is extremely talented!!!!

  • It may have been difficult but did he have to cram it all into 90 seconds? Pick a bunch of notes and play them as fast as you can. There is more to it than just knowing what the notes are. I have not liked any of his performances.

  • Hi guys, it's me :)

  • Something wasn't right about this. I applaud him for trying to play something so difficult, but the sounds ended up clashing and muddling and it didn't sound good. Also, the tempo was definitely off (it was in his last performance too). Howie's right, this wasn't good enough.

  • Hi guys, it's me :)

  • @BuiAlexander hey, just wondering, how do you think you did in this performance? If you're gonna answer though please be honest. You're already off the show so you've got nothing to lose.

  • @BuiAlexander luv your performance! flight of the bumble bee is one of my favorites! :)

  • @BuiAlexander I'm a classical percussionist. You have inspired me!

  • I miss David Hasselhoff.

  • i keep thinking tht the voters were thinking, "if howie doesnt like it, y shuld we?"

  • Howie madel-cultarul ingnoramus

  • wow he is AMAZING. what a JERK for buzzing him!! retard stupid howie u didnt need to interrupt him just cuz u didnt like it. it was an AWESOME performance!!!!!! JERKKKKK

  • He is playing the Bumble Boogie - for all the classical critics out there.

I think he's to be applauded for bringing this talent to America's attn. It's easier to criticize from behind a computer. I don't see the "I'm better than him" critics on the show. As for the argument he can't be a prodigy and need to practice.... IMHO that's like saying Michael Jordan wasn't gifted because he practiced his jump shots endlessly. illogical.

  • @redw0lf24 Ignoring the nonsensical Michael Jackson comparison... no one is saying they're better than this guy. I don't play the piano so I obviously can't make that claim. That in no way disqualifies me from critiquing this guy...'to make 'such a statement' is is illogical. imo, if he is performing on a national stage, then it's implied that he is of at least concert calibre...yet technically, he is no where close to that level. He wouldn't last 10 seconds in a national piano competition.

  • def of child prodigy: child prodigy is someone who at an early age masters one or more skills at an adult level. One heuristic for classifying prodigies is: a prodigy is a child, typically younger than 15 years old, who is performing at the level of a highly trained adult in a very demanding field of endeavor. ...

so no this guy is not a child prodigy...not even close. I admire his dedication to classical music - despite the subtle elitism-but he will never be a concert calibre pianist.

  • ill take the musical experts opinion on this

  • he just butchered the piano...in a bad way. listen to a professional rendition of this piece and you'll realize how lacklustre this is.

  • This guy is not a prodigy..esp considering he practices 7-8 hours a day. This performance was riddle with errors...I play the violin professionally and what may not be apparent to music amateurs was very apparent to me. This is not to mention the complete lack of phrasing/emotion is his playing.

Above average recital calibre performance at best..sadly.

  • @wrathofskorm i agree. the right hand was very off-tempo from the left hand probably more than half the song. It didn't sound how a piano is supposed to sound. It should not havve been this fast and somewhat annoying. I have played piano myself for 9 years and I personally thought this was a horrible performance.

  • @HelpCube I've played for 9 yrs too. and viola for 6 and guitar for 4 and ukelele for 2. Bet your hands can't move that fast -.-

  • i think he's really really cute ;)

    hopefully he gets somewhere

  • I gave him 10 votes both times, but Howie screwed him over -_-

  • I like it! I like it!!!!

    boooooooo Howie!!

I was holding my breath while watching him ><

btw, his surname is Bui, seems like he has Vietnamese parents/ father :D

actually Im not sure if he could win this but I support him!!!

  • he has godly micro

    amirite?

  • @2mmz atleast over 9000 APM while buidling SCVs and supply depots.

  • He was touched by America? He's only 16; so, isn't that molestation?

  • @NoirFan01 ahhh.. too literal? xD

  • usually pianos dont entertain me........ but this is just awesome!

  • We have millions of asians on the planet......HOW DID HE NOT GO THROUGH?

  • This kid should have said "Howie Mandel ... doing a show like Deal or No Deal with Briefcase Models brings down Americas Intelligence! "

  • Howie is a jackass... He does'nt know talent.

    Great job Alexander...

  • Guys, it's me. I just want to say that it feels wonderful to be able to please america with my music.

  • @BuiAlexander I'm soooo sorry for the ignorance of some of the judges in those shows. You were brilliant, awesome, and maybe most of the americans are not keen on classical music. Americans seem to be more fond of rap, pop and black music. Nothing against those genres but, maybe you should move to Italy!

  • @BuiAlexander I am now trying to learn Bumble Boogie

I am around your age and I cannot even come close to how good you are

  • @BuiAlexander Am I wrong or they don't realise how complex it is to mix Boogie with Bumble-Bee, with grace?

Well, all right, as long as you kept it simple, they could follow but after a while, they dropped. You would have needed Robert Fripp, Frank Zappa or Pierre Boulez as fair judges.

I was so disapointed when I heard a "buzzz" just when it entered into the "thick of it".

They are just entertainers, critics, producers or what have you, but not trained misicians.

    Your mistake about them.

  • @BuiAlexander you know I have the same name as you

  • I have never heard "Flight of the Bumblebee" be played like that before. Just watching him do that makes my fingers want to explode or something.

  • You could tell Howie's pissed when he gets boo'd.

  • Man even if he didnt make it i hope i get to see him play some other time!

  • I don't understand how Howie doesn't buzz the people that obviously should be buzzed, and then buzzes Maestro Bui

  • @JimboVids maybe you should listen to other performances of the song "bumble boogie" on youtube and you will see where I'm coming from.

  • Howie seems to be the kind of guy that thinks that avatar is the best movie ever.

  • @Fullblaster avatar was horrible

  • his hands are beasttttttttttt he should take da nd play drums on howies dumb ass "ignoramouss" head LOL

  • Amazing Talenttttt :O:O:O !!

  • First time I've seen Howie buzz; actually, first time I've seen anyone other than Piers buzz.

  • piers is the one pretending now....

  • people who understand and get classical music obviously have more class than others like Sharon and Howie... though as a pianist i thought his performance wasn't good enough and he made couple of mistakes, and he needs to put more emotion in his playing, but overall it was good, i think he needs better (slower) song choices in future though.. it doesn't have to be fast to be good u know... but howie buzzed him for no acceptable reason!!

  • Comment removed

  • Very poor performance and lots of mistakes. I know this because i performed this song 2 years ago.

As a pianist, i do not think he has ever been that great. Sure he's talented but i can name DOZENS of pianists that have more "talent" than he does. But i guess for non-piano-listeners everything he plays seems incredible.

  • @ebjhales i totalllyy agree with your last sentence; for non piano listeners everything he plays seems incredible. i wouldnt necessarily call this a poor performance with lots of mistakes though. he prepares these pieces with a very short amount of time, and it's huge pressure playing for national television.

  • BOO TO YOU!!! >:O

  • LMFAO

You are a cultural ignoramus Howie. and then Howie gets a name tag saying

    "Howie Mandel

Cultural Ignoramus." but i forgot which act tho

  • Honestly he's better than Jackie Evancho

  • How can this be the most difficult piece to play? They obviously have never heard of Gaspard de la Nuit.

  • He is amazing! I am sorry that he did not make it to TOP 10.

  • howie is entitled to his opinion. so is piers. so is sharon. i don't get why it has to turn into a big catfight when people disagree!

  • Howie is a hypocrite

  • couldn't under stand his playing

  • AMAZING !!!!

  • All those judges are ignoramuses. Such ignorance!

  • Maestro Alexander Bui is good. He's excellent! But he's no better than Mr. Amadeus, who Piers also said was the most talented before he mysteriously didn't make it out of Las Vegas.

  • @pooh52 That's because Turkish March is easy.

    And so is Petit Chien.

And so is the Black Key Étude.

And technically, Flight of the Bumblebee is also pretty easy, though this version is somewhat harder because of the swung beat together with sixteenth notes.

  • @SUSAltd

I wouldn't go as far as to call Black Key Easy.

Of course it's not ballade no 1 nor the ocean/winter wind/revolutionary etude, but it's still an hard one.

Amadeus's pieces were indeed easy, although he did well.

  • FAST HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please replace Howie with the Hoff next year! He knows nothing about talent except an old lady hand whistling!

  • @bumiputri bad news!! TT^TT they want howie and sharon on next year!! just look on wikipedia, type america's got talent, and look at season 6 (2011)

poor piers, but!! lets just hope that howie gets kicked off ^^

"during this point of the competition, u not good enough" WHO CARES HOWIE!!!

  • @bumiputri I agree!!!!!

  • I think he did very well, and deserves to go further! But, i recommend more "pop" and something similar to everybodys music taste. It was very well done though, I hope I see more from him! Hse such a cutie!

  • Aweeeeh, hes a cute kid! I think he deserves better then an X!

  • People boo'ed Howie because he buzzed when it was not necessary to...

  • I dont get why people boo'ed howie. He said he was talented we all can freakin see that he is, every pianist i know looks up to this kid, but he is right. Would you want to see an act like this in Las Vegas or an act like fighting gravity? Better question to ask, would you pay to rather see a pianist in vegas or people who fly or a little girl who has a 50 year old voice? I agree with howie 100% and this kid is talented gotta give him a lot of props

  • @ArbysGamingZone i agree if he were a cover artist i would see him anyday because more would enjoys a7x or metallica on piano

  • @ArbysGamingZone

I would choose a good pianist anytime. People don't appreciate that kind of talent, they want the big "omg so impressive" kind of acts which are spectacular but shallow.

  • very good.

  • THIS KID IS AWESOME! OMFG!!!

  • i personally think this guy is an amazing pianist. he might not be the best out there, but he's definately the best musician they've had on this show. and while i don't think that he put enough emotion into the peice, i do believe that you can feel his passion for the piano, regardless. Not for the song, but the instrument itself. andi don't see how anyone could be bored watching someone play an instrument. i personally find it to be a thrilling spectacle. :)

  • love it .. but it`s not for this show :(

  • trully talented but kinda boring

  • i'm sorry, even though i disagree with howie and his comments about classical music being 'boring', i also disagree with piers. he is not as good as people think he is, and it really shows how ignorant people are. you don't actually understand classical music so stop pretending.

    just the truth. =\

  • @clxiryfxiry AGREE x1000

SOMEONE HAS SAID MY MIND EXACTLY. and i hate how piers always thinks hes right, and puts down other people for their opinions.
