Love you videos Rusty. I've always interacted with the locals when I went there. I didn't go to the Philippines to meet Americans and neither did they. I spent 6 months back in 2004 and on our nightly walk to go to Internet Cafe, we had to walk by a small grocery store that always had 5 to 8 guys sitting outside drinking beer and eating palutan. They invite me to try their food many times. I finally did, and since that time I made a very good friendship with the store owner. Ingat kayo.
@19simpleman72 Hi Simple man, I'm like you, enough Americans in America though I don't mind running in to them either.as long as they don't constantly complain. :)
My hubby is always friendly to the locals in the Philippines, offer them drinks, try to talk my local dialect, and locals just love him and he is always the center of attention the way he responce to people. he loves filipinos.
@airvilleleenmae I think I like your husband. I wish more expats and visitors would try to interact. I don't know the language. I live in Cebu and my GF is waray-waray so that makes it harder. I have learned only a few words. I'm really bad with learning another language. I can't even hear the words. That ng letter you guys here, I can't say for anything. LOL :) I iwll keep trying. I'd love to know the language. It really is necessary for me to increase my understanding of the culture.
@CebuExperience Oh so your gf is from Leyte? It's hard to learn and pronounce our language except for those known to be a fast learner. I found my hubby to be one of them. He wants to know more so he can talk fluently to the locals when he gets back.
Are you still in cebu? If so enjoy your vacay! :) Say hello to your gf..
@CebuExperience Try tutorials on Youtube. I just learned to count from 1 to1000 in Tagalog tonight. It's much easier when you can pause/ rewind and listen as many times as you need to.
All languages seem impossible to learn at the beginning. But after a while they start to click.
@rogo321321 I think you're right but the numbers around the Philippines don't always agree. Some day Davao is the second largest City for example. Most stay Cebu. It would make sense what you're saying but I have seen inconsistent numbers.
Hey man you look like me 2 years ago.... I stopped eating red meat , chicken etc , only fish meat. Then I started doing Karate , that's when the weight really dropped off. It's really freaking hard at first , but you just enjoy yourself and push yourself a bit... it's worth it bro :-)
@kathrynicgulmatico Hi Kathy! Nice to "meet" you. if I always accept I think I would always be drunk! haha. But why do you say I shouldn't always accept?
@CebuExperience Mainly, because you`re right, you`ll always be drunk(lol), 2nd, well, if u haven`t noticed in the Phil., some of them r pretty nuts..haha....just be careful, but its safe, as long as u don`t start a t fight..lol..they`re fun to be with....you`ll surely enjoy it...:)
Next time walk in the other side of the street.

@oPickful Many Filipinos don't speak Tagalog very well. it wont do me much good since I live in the Visayas. :)

@CebuExperience
U mean in the Visayas they speak another language?
oPickful 3 months ago
@oPickful Yes, they speak Visayan in the Visayas. Not Tagalog. There are hundreds of languages in the Philippines
CebuExperience 3 months ago
@CebuExperience Actually there are more Filipinos speak Cebuano, Bisaya, Visaya Than Tagalog. But Tagalog is the official language
