Anak keeps having annual or bi-annual small eruptions. If enough pressure could build beneath the volcano in the crust, it could very well destroy itself like the original Krakatoa. Hopefully that doesnt happen in out life time

I think Tambora still holds the record for the most powerful eruption in recorded history. Krakatoa had a VEI of 6, and Tambora is registered at 7. When one of the major super volcanoes erupts though, Tambora's grim, long standing record will surely fall.

The 1883 was more violent? That's an understatement. It's only the most powerful Volcano in recorded history. Also made the loudest sound ever recorded on earth. The shockwave circled the earth 7 times. The horizon all over the Earth was read for 4 years.

No, it's the fish canyon caldera volcano. In geological times though, the ontong java plateau was far bigger still.

Actually, the eruption of Santorini in the mid 15century BCE was more violent than Krakatau's, and that is technically within recorded history. It is sumised that the eruption may have inspired the legend of Atlantis in the writings of Plato, as it corresponds and was perhaps responsible for the collapse of the Minoan civilization. Additional theories relate the eruption to the collapse of the Xia dynasty in China and possibly some of the plauges of Egypt in the Old Testament.

i think the only erruptions to trump krakatoa is yellowstone, and that wasnt in human history we only know about that because of geological evidence

Well, the Tambora eruption in 1815 was the most powerful eruption to have been seen by humans. It registered as a VEI 7.
