Oh my gosh, this recording makes me so happy! Love Rufus tossing his head from side to side and Teddy's uke flub at the end "Whoa!"

I was wondering they did't sing on such a high key in the recorded version, did they?

... there is a recorded version of them doing this song--it's on the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack album.

Some of Rufus' lyric mistakes are pretty amusing!
thanks for uploading :)

they're not his Lyrics. Roger Miller wrote it in 1965.

yea, I know, that's why I said mistakes.
He says 'push and boom' instead of 'pushin' broom' and 'Bang on Maine' instead of 'Bangor Maine'.
Shooting for Queen of the Road I think ;)

and he's HOLDING THE LYRICS and still can't get 'em right. I think the words are actually spot on, its his diction which is completely slurred...
Yea I know! Maybe he's drunk, lol.
But then, this isn't the sort of music I imagine he spends a lot of time listening to, it's pretty obvious that it's new to him, so I just take it for what it is--a pretty good performance. :D
@kalaway hes got the words right in front of him, it just sounds like the wrong words..
