Oddly the coolest thing that i just learned in this video is the fact it has XP mode, lol.

All the other "New" stuff to me is pointless cluttered crap. When i am forced to upgrade one of these days maybe it won't be so bad, i'll have to look more into that, because as far as Windows 7 goes i don't like a thing about it. Especially the UI. The task bar or super bar ..gads it sucks so hard. I've never used media player for as long as i can remember if i didn't have too.

i didnt agree with $120 upgrade price either, but reason mac os x upgrade was so cheap was because they didnt make many changes... i was pissed about the 10 dollars to be honest, i didnt notice any difference other than one compatibility issue. Windows 7 is practically a whole new OS, so id expect it to be more.

Are you kidding? I just jumped to Win 7 ultimate on the new HP Envy 17 3-D, from a Dell Dimension with Win 2000. In my case, it's worth every penny and I find Win 7 very intuitive and easy to use.

I bought an OEM version of professional. Ran me about 80 bucks. Yes, you are not meant to "buy" OEM versions. It helps to have friends in the industry :P

But indeed, buying it seperatly at full price is very expensive. But in the case of 7, I'ld say it's worth it if you really use your pc a lot for things other then surfing and checking your email. 7 is the BEST windows to date by far.

XP is still lighter weight and less distracting, and has drivers for all your hardware on all your systems.  Plus, you can easily crack it.

Don't upgrade. I mean not physically anyways. If you buy Windows 7, wipe your existing OS off your computer and install Windows 7 fresh. You can do this by using the Disk utilities menu on W7's initial DVD boot. Use a USB key to get your pictures/movies/music off your system (or just move it to another partition like D:) and then go from there.

NEVER, EVER mix old code with new. You don't want that.
