@lrs82nila In fact, TIMOR-LESTE (EAST TIMOR) IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD TO OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZE ITS PAPUAN LANGUAGES IN THEIR CONSTITUTION. EVEN PNG DOESN'T PROVIDE THE SAME PROVISION FOR ITS PAPUAN LANGUAGES IN THEIR CONSTITUTION.
Anyway, the undeniable fact of the existence of Papuan languages in so-called "eastern Indonesia" is rock solid proof of the original Melanesian ancestry of the indigineous people. CASE CLOSED.

ASEAN, which was found in 1967 in Bangkok, is headquartered in JAKARTA. The original signatories were INDONESIA, MALAYSIA, THE PHILIPPINES, SINGAPORE & THAILAND. Since then, BRUNEI joined in 1984, VIETNAM in 1995, LAOS & MYANMAR in 1997 & CAMBODIA in 1998. But before any of these nations made their 1st bid to join, PNG MADE ITS 1ST BID TO JOIN IN 1976!!!!

@nesianunity However, unlike all the other 5 nations that received full-fledged membership after only making 1 bid, PNG'S BID WAS COMPLETED DENIED. INSTEAD OF MAKING PNG A FULL MEMBER WITH ALL THE PRIVILIEGES THAT COME WITH IT, ASEAN GAVE PNG "OBSERVER STATUS". This means PNG can attend the regional meetings, but has ABSOULUTELY NO SAY IN HOW ASEAN'S POLICIES ARE MADE.
But every year, PNG still makes requests for full membership. & each year, ASEAN SAYS, "HELL NO!!!!!!"
