drafting was just a word the government invented for forcing people against there will to the governments dirty work. Drafting was basically a form of forced labour. The fact people had no choice. They new the only way they could start these conflicts was to force people against their will to take part. THats fucked up
Ted Nugent is a self admitted draft-dodger. In a 1977 High Times interview braggs about how he soiled himself for a week and snorted crystal methedrine just prior to his examination to get a "big juicy 4-F" classification. In that interview he also refers to the military as "imbeciles in the armed forces."
Nowdays he makes a living playing the Nat Anthem at republican events and doesn't even have enough class to remove his hat.
He lied to get a 4-F because he didn't want to quit his gigs.
I don't advocate war. But I also don't advocate joining a military organization and then when it comes time to do what that organization does, I don't think it is right for these people to go to Canada when they joined the military of their own free will. I could see them taking off after they served a tour of duty and they are sent back over there like what is going on right now. There are some guys on their 5th and 6th tour in Iraq and Afganastan!! I think that is a Big LOAD (OF SHIT there!!!
Its not common knowledge but Ho Chi Mihn said after the rolling thunder bombings of North Vietnam in the late 60's that if it weren't for all of the Pussie Hippie demonstrators in the U.S. that they would have sought peace with us. But since the NVA had sooooo many friends in this country he (Uncle HO) decided that there was no way that they were going to lose. Just a little historical tidbit for anybody who goes out in the streets and protests out country and out military in times of war..
@uptimejesus I am trying to work out how many innocent civilians kids, old ladies YOU personally can be accounted as having killed in Iraq. Lets see: take the total number of civilian deaths, divide it by the number of US soldiers in the country ..mmmm. I make it 3.1 notches you can put on your shootin' iron. The point 1 can just be an unborn child.
Better for them and for you if you'd stayed home too. And now you know the whole war was based on lies. And you have to live with yourself.
I did 9 years active duty in the Army as a 19K primary and a 13F secondary. I elected to get out 1st, because I knew too many guys at 18 years who hated being in but were stuck with having to do 20 years and 2nd, I realized the majority of the military is just cannon fodder for the Wall Street goons who really control this country. Patiotism is all nothing but bullshit made up by rich people to trick the poor into fighting their wars. My son? He will NOT enlist, I have made sure of that.
I've always wanted to meet one of the folks who went to Canada during Vietnam. I heard a lot of noise back then but NO-ONE living in America thanks to Jimmy Fucking Carter seems to want to admit to this act NOW. I knew a couple of men who took that road including one ex-Marine but have not seen or heard from them since. A Canadian buddy of mine told me for every 1 american who went to Canada to dodge the war 15 Canadians came south to join the American military. I'm 67. Want to meet?

My family is wealthy and we would have bribed a few people to keep me out of the military. Growing up in the 60's would have been fucking awesome! Instead of driving an S2000, I'd be in a Stingray 'vert and nailing your girlfriend. No AIDS to worry about? Yeah, I would have torn up back then.
I grow weary of hearing people criticize others who avoided going to Vietnam. Whether the armchair warrior chickenhawk types like it or not Vietnam was NOT a popular war, it was a MESS, and finding ways, legal as well as illegal, to avoid being sent there was the rule rather than the exception.
Get use to reality, revisionists. That's the way it was.

@DDixon1000 Call me a coward, but tag alive to the end of that. If you wanna go essentialy kill yourself for a government that doesnt give a shit about you then go right ahead retard.
I wouldn't give a fuck if someone called me a coward, I will never do this governments killing for them. "Why don't presidents fight the war, why do they always send the poor."
The weirdest thing is the change in the definition of "draft dodger."
When the Vietnam War was going on, the only person who had the honor of being referred to as a "draft dodger" was someone who was drafted and chose to take illegal means to avoid the draft (like going to Canada).
Individuals who took legal means to avoid the draft (like going to college) were not considered draft dodgers.
When I received my draft notice in 1968, I burned it and immediately went to England. There was no way that I was going to fight in Vietnam. I have never regretted my actions.
