Von Stauffenberg was from the aristocracy and did not wanted to lose the war, that's all, he wanted Hitler dead because he was giving wrong orders and losing the war for Germany. But Von Stauffenberg was not a democrat, he sustained the pure race and the glory of a big Germany, and all he wanted was to not lose the war, just to do the same as Hitler: dominate Europe.
Yes, and there is a lot of rewriting of history here too. Along with a dash or two of propaganda that suits the modern US palate eg the allegation of Stalin "squandering" his forces.

500 officers seems low compared to the numbers of officers in action. Fighting a war on three fronts isn't conducive of victory on average. IMO.
