I had a Pony GLS 1.6L too, and it was pretty awesome. I bought it when it was after 10 years end of production, but still brand new. It was hard to find, but, it is still fine looking and runs well!
I had a PONY CX 1.6 with the cheese grater, I mean louvres on the back. It was so cheap to run and kinda fun. I was rear ended by a Jeep Cherokee doing 80 KM writing off the car, I walked away no major injuries, anyway rock the PONY it's a good little car.
Congrats, I put 250K km on mine, which is my first car also. 1.4L 5speed. great little car, until it rusted out, water pump failed. and got $40 when I send it to a junk yard.
I have a 1987 Pony sitting in the garage, waiting for one more year to be eligible for collector's license plate. Pony was the best selling car in Canada in 1987! It may not be an engineering marble but, like Ford, established auto culture in Korea.
I bought one when i was 16. Fiurst car I ever bought. Spent 90% of its time in the shop or in my driveway. Drivers side door broken, sunroof leaked, almost every mechanical failure imaginable occured. Cant believe anyone would still own one. Youre better off taking the bus!

are you serious? dude I bought one at my hometown, (Colombia)- and you know colombia streets can't be compared with developed countries streets, they're all fuck up, however, i would say that this car was NOT bad all, it last with me for over 11 years. Probably, you're a bad driver...no offense
Thanks for sharing! My parents had this same car (same colour too) when I was a kid. Love the sound at 0:30 ! Be careful in the summer months those seats get HOT!
Did you know... any 4G63/4G64 and G54B bolt RIGHT into this car? Also, Dodge D50 trans bolts up (narrow) into this engine? If you're lucky and you have the Borg-Warner 03-55 trans adapter, with little effort (4 hrs work) you can make T56 or even Muncie 4spd fit here? Tonnes of possibilities!
I owned an 85 1.6 litre automatic. Hatchback was great for groceries and gas milage was terrific, but the reliability left a lot to be desired -- the most annoying part was the body hardware was brittle (door handles, wipers, mirrors). Pretty noisy on the highway, too.
Take Care of it. It's very very rare in Korea now. It can be seen only in Museum. Anyway, Is here anyone who know the name of the music from car stereo??
Take care of that car, it's kind of very rare! My mom bought a brand new one in 1984, 1.4L 5-speed GLS and gave it to me in '92 because the floor were so rotten (winter, snow...) that the tranny tore the metal from the body two times. So at 72 000km, the car having 8 years old and still running very good, I welded a new floor made from gas tank and did better braces for the tranny. I put another 80 000km during the next two years! I sold the car to a junkyard in '94. Great memories, thanks!
:) thanks for your thought... but unfortuneately i had to sell my first car because i was moving out of province, and i would've brought but it was just not cost effective... But i am looking for one again... Thanks again! And i sold to guys who loves pony, so im sure they'll take care of it.
lol the carburetor in this car looks like a Jifee pop corn.I used to have a Pony shitty car but it got me around and I had some of the funniest memories of my life in that car.BTW there rotten in the winter,I mean really bad for Winter where theres snow. But at least its good on GAS.
The starting chime is so similar to my 2000 accent and its a 14 year difference
Nice car by the way
