It's 20 city 24 highway MPG not that amazing, I hate saying that since I am a hardcore VW fan but I really wish they would have made step in the right direction by using a technology that they have perfected by making a DIESEL HYBRID. DIESEL HYBRID'S would have better torque and MPG correct?
I think the biggest misconception here is that they are dirty and "it costsso much" and "they are slow" But if consumers here would realize that with Diesel you get a whole lot of bang for your buck. Bang being MPG. And the new TDI's are anything but slow.
@Kbrusky15 yes you are right but TDI cars are already extremely efficient without any hybrid components. Adding additional hybrid componenents to a TDI is cool but not really necessary. (gasoline + hybrid on the other hand really improves efficiency a lot because it has more room for improvement)
@Kbrusky15 a diesel engine, yes would have a better torque and MPG, but there's a couple of problems, first: a Diesel hybrid engine it's more expensive to produce than a gasoline hybrid engine, and to get more torque you must design a Bi-turbo Diesel Hybrid engine, if you see the initial price $60,565 (in US) results expensive put a Diesel engine and try to sell it. Second, a 20-24 MPG city/highway for a V6 supercharged 380 hp, 428 pounds of torque engine, it's really not bad efficiency
Schade, es ist kein Geländewagen, er ist nicht Sparsam...einfach nur ein großes Spielzeug für den Ammi Markt und damit die denken die tun was für die Umwelt, nen teuren Hyrbrid oben drauf.
Kein Geländewagen? Der hat Niveauregelung für erhöhte Bodenfreiheit ,ist gegenüber seinem Vorgänger deutlich versteifter.Und man kann auch mit dem Basismotor zufrieden sein-- wenn man nicht einen V6 will.
@PassatComfortCoupe Als ob die Mehrheit der Leute ihn primär als Geländewagen benutzten. So ein Auto verkauft sich durch die Größe und nicht wegen seiner Geländewagentauglichkeit. Ich mag Volkswagen sehr, aber das hier ist kein Fortschritt sondern einfach nur Konsumer-Orientierung. Der Diesel, den keiner in Amerika kaufen würde, verbraucht deutlich weniger und mit dem Basismotor geben die sich nicht zufrieden.
@mikey141414 I know its just like the porsche cayenne s hybrid I really think they could of done better, but the panamera s hybrid makes up for it with an impressive 41 mpg.

Touaregs! I just love them! I bout the 2012 TDI this year, and its amazing! Wouldn't change it!! VW is the best! I love all the new designs!
