The reson all the locals are hating on you for saying "maui girl" instead of "Ehu girl" is because roman (the lead singer of kolohe kai) sings it saying "Ehu girl" and thats the real way to sing it because in hawaiian "Ehu girl" means "maui girl" and it also sounds stupid when you say "maui girl" in the song.
