  • I think Tony lived, Chase (In my opinion only) wanted to emphasize the fact that Tony would never have true peace or happiness. His eyes constantly behind him

  • @chanderslap how do you know that tony was the one getting killed and not someone else?

  • I just wish they would hurry up and get everyone on board for a movie. These guys are not getting any younger. I don't want to see Paulie toss some guy a beatin' from his Hoveround electric wheelchair.

  • guys, no offense to whoever thinks that Tony Soprano is dead, but: how can you be so sure that Tony is dead if you didn't see his dead body or a bullet getting through his head?

All the "evidence" showed in this video is based on suppositions: neat job, but I think you can even compare Sopranos to Star Wars if you start to care about ALL the details** (I was kidding).

ANYWAYs: the finale is left open so people are FREE to believe whatever they want to! :) you can see what you want!

  • @abisk777 Agreed ... thus, "Don't stop Believin'" music.

I think like others that the audience got whacked. LOL

I loathe self-important writers who mess with the audience as he has in this ending. And then goes away so no one can reach him. PFFFT! Screw you, David Chase! You are JUST a writer, get over yourself.

  • SUCH a clever scene - awesome!

  • he's still alive....steve perry had a deal with david chase and said if he uses a sing Tony does not get wacked

  • I would like to believe that Tony is alive however i don't think he is :(

  • i think the ending was bullshit after watching the whole seasone i would think that they owed it to the audience to make a difinative ending weather tony dies or not .its a cop out to leave it open, it only benifits david chase not the fans that supported the whole 6 seasons, its a tv show not a subject for debate now i dont care if he died or not i just think that david chase wants a safty net to come back to if his future work fails!!! if it ended like that in a book i would have burned thebook

  • I think the "Members only jacket" was mentioned in the episode where Junior shot Tony too. That guy who inherited money and wanted to retire to florida, he was wearing one and Vito broke his balls over it. Was that the same episode?

  • Tony was shot by the guy who was in the bathroom as meadow entered. he looks up and the screen goes black. we see everyone entering through the eyes of tony. he never would have heard the shot because the bullet goes faster than sound. my guess is that after the assassin shoots tony, either 1) the other people (like the black guys maybe) shoot the rest of the family, or 2) one of the other members at the table shoots the assassin. either way, we know that Tony Soprano is dead

  • HERE'S SOMETHING TO CONCIDER. AT MOMENT JUST B4 DOOR-CHIME TONY TAKES HAND OFF JUKEBOX BRINGS 2 WASTE. REACHES 4 GUN? DID HE SEE A GUNMAN ABOUT TO FIRE? ALSO ALL CAPOS (CHRIS, BOBBY, SLYVIO (BRAIN DEAD) ARE DEAD.

AND PAULY, THE LAST, AGREES TO JOIN "CURSED" CREW. AT THE MOMENT HE AGREES THE CAT THAT ALWAYS STARES AT DEAD CRISSY PICTURE SITS N STARES @ PAULY THE SAME WAY. IF ALL CAPOS R DEADLOCKED. PERHAPS TONY "FADES TO BLACK" AS WELL. THE ENDING WAS PERFECT. LEAVES ROOM FOR IMAGINATION.

  • There is also the Last Supper painting reference. The first shot of Tony sitting down in the restaurant...

  • Very good job, i wonder if you could help-me on how to do such a nice job ?

    Thanks for posting!

  • Also, the theory of "the threes" in The Sopranos shows, there are three lights in the shots of Carm and Tony sitting across from each other before AJ joins them.

I dunno, I agree its subjective and its brilliant in that way, but...I think Tony got clipped. Got it from the side, didn't see (or hear) it coming

  • Tony knew it was all about to blow up and knew his time was about up. I hate the way they ended it, but then again, if they had shown Tony being shot I prolly woulda cried No!! Lol, so I guess we all have to accept our own version. In mine, the screen went black cuz Tony's life went black, aka brain dead from a gun blast to the back of the head.

  • well done thanks! I hadn't seen those before.

  • For years I've had dreams where I get shot in the head. I do not wake up before the actual death. The shot goes in, everything goes black. Thats how it was. Some years later I met a guy who had been shot in the head and I told him about my nightmares of being shot in the head and he said thats how it feels, except he awoke and didn't die. Tony Soprano is dead! But not the family. I like happy endings. Carmela went to the trash can and took all the money!!

  • @MsBatbird I think Tony was ready to die. His kids were grown up and set on career paths, his nemesis dead, and his dear friends dead or in a coma. He let his guard down willingly by going there.

  • David Chase put all these clues in here for us to speculate and use our imagination. Its actually very brilliant. The one thing I disagree with is getting shot from the side or behind him. You can see right when he looks up at the end his left arm draws for his gun. The bells on the door from meadow alert him and you can draw any conclusion as to what happens next. I believe hes killed in front of the family.

  • Funny how Heart (Magic Man "live") is right above "Don't Stop Believing"... (Heart never released that as a single live on a B-Side or anywhere. And the Capitol 44040 "stamp" isn't an actual release. Maybe that number means sumthin ?)

    Plus.... it's "Magic Man" heheh.

  • @TacomaPaul Actually Heart released "Magic Man" on an album titled "Greatest Hits/Live". While that particular song wasn't a live version on the album (double album - three sides of studio hits, one side of live material), it's possible that the printing in the jukebox was flawed & assumed to be a live cut from an album entitled "Live".

Just my two cents on the subject...

  • @bearmassaro Further investigation reveals that Heart DID INDEED release "Magic Man (live)" as a B-side to the "Who Will You Run To?" single in August 1987...

  • @bearmassaro AND it was labeled Capitol Records #44040.

    Sorry dude...

  • Also, a reunion episode would just be awful...

  • It's definitely an ambiguous ending, and that there never will, nor should, be a definite answer, but the evidence to Tony's death is almost overwhelming, and it's hard for me to believe that anything but happened. Thinking that Tony died also gives me a sense of closure that I wouldn't feel otherwise.

Having said that, I hope it's never revealed whether this is the case, as the unexplained questions are far more interesting. That's why Lost got so shitty once they started explaining everything

  • The ending was a publicity stunt. This is why. The fact it was the worst ending ever so the die hard fans buy all the episodes to analyze winch = profit & post there findings in the new papers, magazine , YouTube = publicity. This was a clever ending for money & publicity & Tony is dead (RIP)

  • maybe he chocked eating an onion ring lollllll fat kunt

  • Look, the man in the Members only jacket would have just shot Tony as soon as he was behind him. He really had no reason to go into the Bathroom at all,and if Meadow really knew something she wouldnt be wasting her time trying to Paralell park! I think Tony went into witness protection.

  • Well done on the videos. I'm pretty much in agreement with your theory. The only thing I'd add is the "Pine Barrens" episode, w/ the botched hit and unanswered questions there. As far as motive, maybe word is finally getting back on this to the Russian mafia head and timing would be excellent to take out Tony. i.e. the guy in Members Only jacket is a russian hitman, not italian. That we're commenting years after is a sign of how great this final scene was/is.

  • FUCK YOU DAVID CHASE.

  • and how the number 3 appears. Yes Megan takes 3 parking sttempts, but also Tonys first 3 sentences are 3 words long, Tony orders 3 pepsis, he has 3 family members, 3 boy scouts, 3 in megans numberplate, 3 milks on the truckers brothers coffee saucer, 3 on the poster footballers jersey. Probably referring to 3 attempts on tonys life. I think tony reached for his gun @35seconds when the first man walks in, and again when megan walks in - it could even be the same clip of Tony it looks that similar

  • I think you could have gone a lot deeper it. Like at the end as you hear the door ring when Meadow walks in, you see Tony's left hand snap back from the jukebox to under the table, and you will see his left elbow pull back and upward, as though he is reaching for something (ie his gun). Also, when Tony first walks into the restaurant, why do we see him pause and stare ahead. We see him staring at himself, sat down already. We are never shown him ordering the pepsis or the onion rings either

  • great video, just finished watching the box set in the space of 3-4weeks just a couple of months ago....that theory does make a lot of sense,i never seriously believed he could be dead though, but i guess that"s just me not really wanting him to be dead as he was the star of the show, and actually a hero in many ways despite all his flaws...but watching this opened my eyes to the possibility that he was probably shot and kiled, will we ever really find out?hope not, once again, great vid

  • it was all a dream since tony got shot

  • this is a shite explanation

  • It beats me how people cannot see that Tony was shot and killed in that diner. Its obvious if you replay the final scene in your mind and look at all the clues in that episode and the previous ones such as the never hear it coming concept said by Bobby and repeated in a flashback scene to hammer it home to the viewers. The camera tracking the suspicious guy going to the toilet. The black sreen at the end was Tonys point of view as he was dead when he and us should have seen Meadow.

  • All of these explanations are very clever...but I think the writers chose to end the show this way for one reason...Just to piss everyone off.

They need to make a movie so that I can have some damn closure!

  • @nickroberts5768 no they didn't not at all.

All the clues are there, it's for you to figure out. Read up about it before you start spouting shite

  • @mkr10001 "Shite"? Whatever man I was just bored and typed something. Get that stick out of your ass and fuck off.

  • @mkr10001 So you are "bored" and just "typed something"...and you are surprised that someone doesn't agree with it. Cunt

  • well done on your figuring out the significant pieces of information.feels like you brought it to a close for me, coz the ending was a little abrupt ya know. as you put it there was too many potential killers in there for him not to get clipped.i reckon it ends with the blackness and the death of Tony and possibly AJ Carmella and Meadow but possibly Meadow survived coz she was at the door and seen the hit on Tony AJ and Carmella

  • You are genius. Your connections are impressive, great videos part one and two.

  • Christopher was one of the most valuable men in Tony's crew. If T didn't kill him in the car Christopher would have killed anyone Tony needed whacked before he got murdered in front of his family.

  • I subscribe to the "blackout was the audience" theory. The whole Bobby and Tony discussion in the boat, about how you never see it coming and it goes black? That's us. We never saw that sudden ending coming. We were waiting for something else to happen and it didn't. So we were whacked. It's over for us.

  • @carddshark That's a nice theory. So is the one presentend in this video. Maybe both of them are true? Damn, it will take some time for me to figure it out. I haven't watched Soprano's before, I just finished that last episode.

  • MEMBERS ONLY is EPISODE # 66... think 666, devil. death!

  • the onion rings symbolize the circle of life. you live and you die. emphasis on the die

  • I think that shortly before Carmela enters the restaurant, one of her bodyguards hired by Tony enters. Even closer to each other, moving like a friendly team, A.J. and his bodyguard enters. The man may look suspicious from the counter, but he is actually friendly and worries about A.J. and the Sopranos. Then the killer of A.J. moves into position when A.J.’s bodyguard visits the men’s room. THE TWO BLACK GUYS KILLED A.J. ONE OF THEM IS THAT SOMALI GUY, WHO A.J. AND HIS FRINDS BEAT UP

  • @condedookan dude....

  • the “black screen”, is for A.J. , you have to see life through the eyes of the person being killed. As the camera shows Tony, it cant be him. It has to be the person looking at him, and that is from this angle of view his son A.J. As Tony is still worried by possible reactions to the killing of Phil Leotardo, he had arranged for body guards to protect his family members. The peoples in the restaurant are body guards, but one is the killer.

  • Google, masterofsopranos definitive ending. Very detailed and deep piece, but connects all David chases dots that lead to the ending, of Tony being killed

  • i just relized something. before tony is sitting down waiting for his family, you see tony standing in the door way of that restaurant looking at himself sitting down at the table by himself waiting for his family to get there. i believe he was wearing a jacket and the tony sitting down is wearing something completly different. is it possible that hes dreaming this or thinking of this moment? watch the ending again. at first no one is sitting there at the table. at 2nd glance, hes there!

  • So, why would they not show us who killed Tony?

  • @hackensac

In David Chase's own words: "There was so much more to say than could have been conveyed by an image of Tony facedown in a bowl of onion rings with a bullet in his head."

If Tony did get shot, which I think is the most likely conclusion, then it is reasonable to suspect from the final shots that it was the 'Members Only Guy' who looks at Tony, and the camera more than once draws attention to him.

  • Chase's whole idea was to not patronise the viewer with a definitive ending. he regarded sopranos fans as intelligent. he didn't want to spoonfeed the audience by choosing the ending for them and chose to let the intelligent interpretation of the soprano's fan be the ultimate fate of Tony. i'd take the conversation with Bobby as the definitive reference to the ending. when the end comes, you don't even hear it. it just happens, abruptly, it all just goes black

  • @LeeMahady A definitive ending is not patronizing. I think it would show more respect to the audience to show them what happens..."Choose an ending for them?" He chose everything else! I didn't want Chris, Silvio, or Bobby to die...I chose it not to happen, David Chase chose otherwise...who's choice mattered more? He took the easy way out and though I feel Tony was dead, he refused to show it, leaving the audience sitting there stunned. If people think their cable went out, you have failed.

  • @Heathnyy5

I was not that concerned about Christopher dying, as I thought he was a degenerate in more ways than one. Silvio was more definitely likeable (though his whacking of Adriana reduce his favour with the audience in my opinion). Besides, Silvio is last heard as being in a critical condition, but alive in hospital - so he might have survived? Bobby really didn't deserve to go, because on the whole he was the most benign mobster of them all.

  • @LeeMahady And that is mentioned several times in the last season.

Remember when Silvio was used as a bait in the killing of "Doc" Santoro (S6E15), remember the weird lag and silence. Later on Silvio describes the situation to the guys and remarks that it was "weird".

  • the thing is why would chase put in "this magic moment" on the jukebox if he wasn't trying to convey some sort of message, it's painfully obvious

  • All these theories and no answers. Maybe this was the end of the series and thats all.

  • Those two black guys that make the attempt on tonys life attacked and during it the one black guy shot the other guy by accident and then tony grabbed his gun away just b4 he crashed his suv.

  • what about the two mullies shown after the guy in the members only jacket is shown i bet they had something to do with it... fucking niggers

  • hes fuckn dead lol

  • some very interesting points on the finale...my only issue is who would whack Tony? he had reached an agreement with New York and killed his nemesis Phil Leotardo and Leotardo's brother Billy, who would have avenged Phil's death, had been killed in series 5...just can't figure out who would kill Tony at this point and why. personally I think it has been left open in case they ever decide to do a seventh series.

  • u knoq i don't even watch sopranos but holy shit that was a good ending imma go watch it now

  • Tony is sitting facing the restaurant door and each time we hear the door chime, we see through Tony's eyes who has entered, however the final time we hear that chime we only see blackness...that's what Tony sees because he's dead.

  • @chandlerslap i never looked at it that simply before untill right now... maybe its that simple... well thought out

  • Bobby in S06E13: 'You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?'

  • @BoScheffer Plus in S06E14.

Silvio in the restaurant in the murder of Gerry Torciano (00:32:32), the sound suddenly drops out, Silvio doesn't hear shit until the body falls to the ground.

Later in Bada Bing Silvio tells to his crew what he experienced in the shooting (00:41:59): "The fucking scary thing was I didn't know what happened 'till after the shot was fired. Fucking weird."

There is a continuous reference to the perception of sound in shooting. The finale is artistically very elegant.

  • Sopranos was a great show with a craptacular ending .

  • I'm surprised you haven't said the what I thought was obvious: He would look up when someone came in the door, and then there would be a shot of the door from his perspective. When Meadow was going to come through the door, it didn't show her because Tony didn't have a perspective, he was dead.

  • hey there...great research...i think he must have been killed...if we believe what's on screen,by the guy who went into the jacks...meadow comes in,now all the family are there...nothing is more important than the family to the mafia...the worst way to go...i think they were all killed to show he paid the ultimate price...perfect setting too,at the table where they spent more time than anywhere else....

  • Very interesting.. VERY .. alot of stuff there

  • ok so i just finished the sopranos for the first time tonight and at first i thought ya tony died lights out

but i have on question why and who killed tony?

did they not shake hands and promise that the vilence would stop?

thats breaking the mob code idn

just saying loved to be proved wropng

also it is the single greatest tv show ive ever watched

    peace

  • it is just like shutter island, first time i watched it i didnt really look for all the subtle hints that explain the ending before it happens. second time around, i was able to see all the finer points, guess i will have to watch all the seasons over again huh :)

  • @pshea16 Shutter Island wasn't too difficult to figure out, even on first viewing

  • @hopkins4545 never said it was hard to figure out, just to see all the little points that are hardly noticed the first time. example... when they hand the guns over, and since he is a doctor he never had a gun so he has a hard time taking it out of his holster.

  • this show totally copied the everybody hates chris endidng..

  • What I'm surprised nobody has mentioned is the fact that they ate their onion rings whole as if it was communion wafers, also the fact that they are in a down market diner, this is unusual for them and I believe it links with the lyrics 'just a small town girl'

I hope I helped give an idea of what happened :)

  • Sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for the research.

  • The Members Only Jacket could be a hint that the guy is made man. Just saying. great videos :)

  • I was watching the ending a few times and was not a sopranos super fan but it was a great show and this is definitely the ending with tony getting whacked but just after watching it a few times and what about adding too the ending that his son A.J and maybe even Carmella too had something to do with the hit they both look nervous and A.J even enters the place with the man in the members jacket and Carmella made a point of saying she just spoke too A.J and that Meadow was coming separately

  • Yes your clearly not a super fan of the show. Thats the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard.

  • Well done. "This magic moment" is a great find.

  • The guys who were supposed to shoot tony, were the same that got sil, he says something like, we figured they would both be at the club when talking to phil on the cell after bobby and sil got shot

  • bobby baccala sr. didn't die of cancer...

  • Who is the ignorant BASTARD bad mouthing this guy for being observant and catching the little stuff missed by even hardcore fans like myself? I for one appreciate it! The last episode, I felt CHEATED! But your clips prove Chase is a GENIUS! Just pissed they didn't figure it out first! As far as "Which direction Tony was looking"? YOU NEED FACTS TO BACK UP WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, OR ELSE IT'S A 'S-P-E-C-U-L-A-T-I-O-N", DUMB ASS! RIGHT or WRONG, FACTS BACK UP JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU POINTED OUT!

  • Yeah.....and Paul is dead.

  • Tony is dead and its about time! Furio did it! yay! You gotta admit furio woulda waxed tony's ass up and down north jeresy.

  • another is the murder attempts on tony, by his mother/junior (which he lived), then junior's dementia caused him to shot him again (survived), then phil...... another 3 reference is phil ordered 3 hits on the soprano crime family: bobby, sil, and tony. think about it.... the guys assigned to bobby got to him, the guys assigned to sil got him as well...but whatever happened to guys/guy assigned to kill tony's? my guess, it was the guy standing at 3' O CLOCK in the restaurant.

  • AND HERE IS ANOTHER OPINION LOOK DOWN TO MY LAST COMMENT BELOW. there has been a lot of significance to the number "3" its like a curse on the show. the first one was when they were talking about cancer in one of the prior episodes, they said "these things come in 3s" 3 characters in the sopranos died of cancer: jackie aprile, johnny sack, and bobby bacala sr. the lupertazzi family all known bosses throughout the series all died: carmine, johnny sack, then phil.

  • you forgot one more. in the episode were christopher gets shot, he has a vision of hell and he tells tony and paulie a message from the beyond, "3' o clock." (another reference to prior episodes) paulie got his diagnose of cancer at 3:00. and the guy in the members only jacket is standing at 3' o clock of tony. he enters in the bathroom, a reference to the godfather (1 of many). in which michael retrieves the gun to avenge his father.

  • If you really want to get into it, you can TURN UP THE VOLUME and hear a "Click" and a delay before you hear the bell, mind you its like 1 second, but it is a lot longer than when everyone else walked into the diner...which is to say that the "Click" was the washroom door opening OR closing, than BANG! black out...i wonder if the director was agnostic? why else would there just be black?

  • @SOUTHPARKFOREVER240 He's an embittered baby boomer Catholic.

  • \/ \/ \/ \/ SEE BELOW!! \/ \/ \/ \/ Also . . . . I think this is why Meadows parking is so significant, because if she parked straight away, she would have sat down beside Tony, blocking the shooters site, but she was delayed, and, i think, as she walked in, the shooter came out, killing Tony :(

  • i dnt know if its relevent at all but Tony said in one of the earlier seasons that his favorite scene was from the Godfather when Michael gets revenge by getting the gun from the toilet and then killing those two guys... maybe thts what happened with this guy in the bathroom??? not a great link i know but just made me think of it :)

  • @TenaciousMB i think it s very relevant, throughout the sopranos Godfather references are constantly made, (when people in the Sopranos get shot, the shooter always drops his gun, exactly what Clemenza tells Michael to do b4 he goes to the restaurant to kill McClusky and Sollozo). i think this is where your point is relevant, i think the guy goes to the toilet, as we see, then comes out of the toilet and shoots Tony from the side (similar to Michael).

  • chase did confirm how it endid

  • Why do you want a definitive answer? When it stopped as he looked up when Meadow came through the door, that's all it did: it stopped. There's no right or wrong answer as to what happened next. There are strong theories saying that he got killed and that he didn't. Neither can be proved. Chase hasn't confirmed either way. Good drama doesn't demand a beginning, middle and end. The series was merely a snapshot of the characters' lives' over a period of time. Anything else is conjecture.

  • @karpizan There is a right or wrong answer, but Chase chose not to tell us. He said "it's all there"... meaning that the answer is pretty much there throughout the six seasons. Tony died, the signs are clearer for that arguement.

  • @karpizan

The theories for him being killed are a lot stronger than the reverse. Chase also said there is an ending; he just doesn't want to explain it -- but it is all there. And as you can see all the flat (non interpretive) clues like "magic moment" point in one direction.

Chase originally wanted pure black -- no credits at all. The studio made him do credits. The audience got whacked, but how does the audience "live" in the universe of the Soparnos? A.to Chase: Vicariously through Tony.

  • @karpizan every story requires a beginning, middle and end though. going to black doesnt give it an actually ending. what it does it let people make up their own ending for the show. while some may say tony dies others may say tony didnt. the real answer is the fuckers who wrote the show took a copout way to end the series. they pulled this same bullshit with OZ. this is why im not getting into BEmpire for the simple fact theyll screw the final episode ever up with a lame ending.

  • I think that one other reason, that Meadow is late, is that so on right side of Tony S is clear place, and guy in wc can clearly shot him. IMHO

  • @Stlkrom Soprano's don't exactly set things up for smooth hits- They are portrayed as more realistic than convenient e.g. Philip Parisi. So for Chase to set it up to make it easy for the hitman- would just be inconsistent with the series.

  • In the episode 'From Where to Eternity' S02E09 when Christopher had a message from Mikey Palmice after recovering from clinical death for Tony and Paulie "Three o'clock" . This may refers to the position of the shooter in this scene!

  • I think your dead on right!!!

  • I think people have made something out of the last scene that simply isn't there. (which, of course, was clearly the producer's intention!)

The last scene makes you THINK anything is going to happen. Why? Because that is how Tony lives every day. In reality, the last scene is the most boring scene in the entire 6 seasons. It shows the family doing normal everyday things.

If you took the music out of the whole scene, it would be like watching a real life family having dinner.

    It's genius.

  • Come on, someone linked this and I know this is old, but there is nothing supporting the theory. So, because of past experiences you now suspect that all truck drivers are going to kill Tony. That every pair of black males are going to kill Tony. That every guy in a member only jacket is going to kill Tony. Heck, there was even something about the cubscouts, were they also there to kill Tony? The result is your fears, your prejudices in play, nothing more. It was good transition, thats it.

  • any real fan has seen the bonus footage on included in the series box set an chase says

"its for viewers to take it as they want tonys alive in my eyes ...Dead in yours ..an alive in the next mans no ones right an no ones wrong thats from the writer thats what made it more intriguing audiences that wanted to see him die .got that..the ones that wanted to see him live..did..genious

  • your apparent explinations are more than flawed, the real explination is the one i left on your first sopranos explained ending.and you couldnt be more wrong.where as i know as fact

  • @dodrocks2 which is your theory? can u send me a msg plz?

  • ctd...and we know that Tony knows that person is Carlo, someone he trusted. The lawyer tells Tony that Tony will be indicted. So no---they are not going to live happily ever after--how can they? Tony's crew is decimated--Tony is going to be indicted (and convicted because Carlo knows all). Who would whack Tony? Phil Leotardo is dead with his own crew's blessing. Chase gave food to the conspiracy buffs and they (and you) bought it! Cheers!

  • First, let me congratulate you on doing such a fine job of analyzing this. However, I think you are overanalyzing in the vein of those who have overanalyzed the Kennedy Assassination. I believe Chase deliberately put the various other characters in the diner to give viewers the impressions you voice. I do not believe Tony is whacked at the end, and here is why--no reason. We already know the end is nigh for him--his lawyer told Tony that someone big is testifying before the Grand Jury....

  • Tony got a bullet in the back of the head no doubt in my mind all the references its a shame he started to turn truly evil in the last few episodes killing chris and mulling killing paulie greatest television character of all time best show of all time "u probably never even hear it when it happens".it just go's Black.

  • he gets whacked thats the end of it

  • its obvious he was shot.............thats what mob movies/shows are all based on people getting "wacked"

and the sopranos didnt have any hidden messages or surprises when it came to this....

look at bobby and cel....straight foward....and even phil leatardo....you could all see it coming.

i couldnt imagine its cuts to black and they have a nice family meal and go on about there lives!!! that would be a stupid ending!!

im just glad paulie wallnuts didnt get hit!!

  • @waitarajason

    You can't spell for shit.

  • @damienmetalwind yeah and i make 170K a year......so whats your point???

  • @waitarajason

I didn't know gigolos made that much XD

  • @waitarajason This is the internet. Anonymity allows people to make any bogus claim they want.

  • you are the first one on youtube that i have seen, that tried to figure this out!! I would say you are really with this!! good work!!

  • When Christopher had the out of body experience, he said that Mikey Palmice told him what was going to happen to Tony. He said "3 O'clock". That is the angle that Tony was most likely shot from.

  • .....to him.

The giveaway is the POV. So cleverly done by chase. Every time the bell rings: Tony's face, Tony's POV. When meadow is about to enter (we don't see her IN the shop) it cuts to black as that's Tonys POV cos he's dead!

I read this theory online, and when you watch it back it's very convincing.

The best TV show ever PERIOD.

  • Tony is definitely shot dead. There are far too many references and hints to really think anything else. Particularly meadow parking, why would this be of interest at any other moment in the show.......3rd time lucky, or unlucky for Tony.

The 3 o'clock premonition that Chris has, the fact that it's meadows voice (albeit a younger version) that prevents Tony from entering the house ( thus dying) when in the coma, yet her presence is lacking when Tony gets shot, she would have blocked the view t

  • Saw both. Good points. I think that one particular keeps being missed. The bell. John Donne wrote "Each man's death diminishes me,

For I am involved in mankind.

    Therefore, send not to know

    For whom the bell tolls,

    It tolls for thee.

Every time tony looks to see who rings the bell and in the last take "it tolls for thee". Just a thought.

  • Very clever Moutz! Why won't Chase cone out and tell the fans what he was thinking! We made him rich!

  • It actually makes sense that David Chase wanted to kill the main charachter because it was the final episode but that he hid it because otherwise it would have been too obvious. Good work moutz with all those clues. I never even thought until now he actually dies, I mistook it for an open ending

  • Well the Sopranos ended when I was 11, but this all makes sense, thanks a lot.

  • has anyone though that tony did not die at all but rather that someone in his family carmella or aj might have been the ones shot ..when the screen goes black the pov is facing tony (aj and carmella are facing tony as they are seated across from him) & if it was tony that did the pov would have been facing carmella , aj , or the door to the restaurant ..that is to say the pov would have been looking out ..instead of the pov facing tony

  • it was always intended as a dramatisation of reality. no dramatic killing or "ending"! life isn't like that, life just goes on and we continue to face each issue. as the song says "life goes on and on and on". we end our time with the sopranos with the intention is we leave them as we find them, as any family, a family with issues but no ending, because life continues. hence them sitting at a regular restaurant and tony about to face (finally) his RECO that we'd heard of for 6 years

  • i'm a sopranos freak and one thing i noticed that i still haven't heard anyone mention is that Tony at the end scene is wearing the same shirt he was when he got shot. does this mean the entire last season is just Tony's version of him playing things out in his head the way he thought they would happen? great job david chase, i bet there's theories even he didn't anticipate coming out of it.

  • The poster could earn a PhD in Sopranos. I mean, every detail....every season, every episode. Good for you. Your explanations, if not true, are interesting and very plausible. You should get to work on the assassinations of JFK, RFK, MLK.

  • this is actually quite deep:) thanks for making theese couple vids. Awesome!

  • you no yo shit !

  • epic ending

  • First thnx for the effort.I have watched the scene over@over. Several conclusions can be made. The family together, the music, the other patrons...I think the guy that followed A.J. in went to the can and waited til Meadow showed up so the family could bear witness to Tony's demise.I watch repeats at 8am every morning to start my day with the right attitude. I get pissed when they preempt it with B.S. like Family Jewels and Intervention.Come on A@E give me Sopranos with my coffee.

  • Comment removed

  • never got into the sopranos, and based on this video i'm glad i didnt. because watching the sopranos seems to turn people into losers with no life what so ever. how much time do you have on your hands to go thru every little detail and every little scene from every episode just to try to understand what happened to a FICTIONAL character. get laid dude, seriously...

  • @DABIGDAWG018 You idiot sopranos was art, was something beautiful that allot of people enjoyed. Do you think that getting laid like an animal all day is gonna make you a better person with a more meaningful life?

If you haven't seen sopranos you don't know shit and you watch the ending now like a fucking faggot and comment shit. It's people like you that irritate me and make this world a fucking shitty place

You obviously are an imature kid with no idea about what life is and probably never will

  • Do you remember when AJ and Meadow were discussing Robert Frost "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" they say it all... Also, remember when Tony has food poisoning after eating Indian food.. what was the forst words out of his mouth when he waks up... it all ties in to the ending...

  • @DAdZor You remind me of those little dogs that bark at their own reflection in the mirror. :-)

  • @DABIGDAWG018 Right, so I assume you think all of the reading comprehension shit taught in pretty much every school curriculum is retarded too. Oh, and literary analysis. It's people like you who make me sick, people who hate on people's sense of observation and wit. It's people like you who make this world worse, trying their best to hinder other people's natural ability, intelligence, and skill. Three traits of which you apparently do not have. Good day.

  • @DABIGDAWG018 takes a real loser to post comment like yours

  • @DABIGDAWG018 lmao, stop being so deffensive. It's obvious you're a sexually frustrated virgin who says shit like that to build up your own confidence.

On topic: The ending was epic, and I didn't really get the ending. These vids helped alot, thanks for sharing!

  • @DABIGDAWG018 ok "DAWBIGDAWG" Rofl. Oh no, you're not going to watch it? What a terrible loss, just because you don't have the brain capacity to appreciate great TV series like the sopranos. No one gives two shits about you not watching it, stick to Jersey Shore.

  • amazing I think I am a believer :)))

  • Very well done. I didn't watch much of TS, but from what I did, the episodes had this overwhelming sense of sorrow. These characters had no joy in their lives, no real sense of a life well lived. What I in this scene, is that no one smiled, no one was really happy to be with each other. The family had failed, the showed up as a sense of duty to the father, but no because they had real joy in seeing each other. Whatever the ending, the family was dead, had no life, no joy. Hell of a way to live.

  • watching this i can tell you are full of shit and you never really paid attention to the show over the years. what happened in the end is up to the individual. as tony said there are 2 way for a man of his lifestyle, in the can or dead so get over it the show is over and thats it, it was brillant but never coming back so just accept it

  • very accurate

  • I believe that, "you probably wont even hear it right" and that's exactly what happened, if you where tony, its bang, dead.

  • I concur with your interpretation. But if I want to play with a Rubiks Cube, I will buy one. Chase may think he's clever with his artsy fartsy film making, but what's wrong with showing everyone what happened to Tony? The ending sucked & it's asham that you have to play detective in order to figure out Tony was killed. Gandolfini didn't want to do the series anymore so there will be no more Sopranos series or movies, at least not with him in it.

  • Brilliant! Thats explained a lot, i feel a lot better now, just watched entire episodes again and cant believe its all over still!

  • Genius. I am a believer in what happened and I feel better (not that Tony got it) about the whole show. I was ticked at Chase but I get it that he is a wizard at creating. Many people like simple, I can appreciate this from him.

  • yh tony dies, all hate the endig but chase did an amazig job of this ending i mean who have wanted to say tony just get an bullet in his head then i will all just stop? it was better this way

  • good eye

  • Just finished rewatching the whole series. Wow. Freaking Epic! Chase without a doubt had Tony killed. Excellent explanation in these two videos.

My interpretation was that throughout the show Tony's immediate family was in shambles and for the first time everyone was "together" in a sense that their lives were getting on track.

Mom enters. Son enters. Daughter enters. Tony is fulfilled and dies a very happy man.

  • @aheartmanagerie Just because Tony looked forward, doesnt mean that he was looking at the guy shooting him. He was probably looking at the door because he heard Meadow come in, and it was just at that moment, as the whole famiy was in the restaurant that he was shot, I think from the guy in the bathroom. Tony didn't have to be looking at the guy shooting him, the door bell thing rang so he looked up, saw Meadow, and then went black.

  • @jono2316jono2316 To me it looks like Tony reaches down after he hears the Ring which to me shows he went for a gun... But that's just my interpretation... I don't want Tony dead at all!!!!!

  • The sopranos is the absolute most genius show in the history of television. It stayed consistantly fresh and real throught the duration of the show. When Tony got killed in the final episode I knew immediately what had happened. It was only fitting that it came to an abrupt cut to black as it did. There may never be another show ever on tv as brilliant as the Sopranos. Salut to all who made it possible from a fellow Italiano!

  • The very last comment in your video is the most important: "The decision is all yours..."

Ultimately, I think it's up to the viewer to decide whether or not Tony got whacked. There's definitely evidence either way, so take whichever side you want.

David Chase has made several cryptic comments about the ending since the final episode aired. Among them: "There's more than one way of looking at the ending. That's all I'll say."

  • the trucker was the dude that owned the sport store that tony ran into the ground. Remember He got into debt with tony? the black guys that tried to kill tony one of them got killed.Guy that goes into the bathroom cant be the killer because in the last second you see tony look forward. The bathroom was to his right not in front of him. So anyhow it had to of been the sporting goods store owner. Also remember someone mentioned later on he was sent to a mental heath facility after tony ruined him.

  • @aheartmanagerie The guy who ran the sporting goods store was a completely different person. you are wrong.

  • @jmedran It's all an opinion haha. No one knows what happened other than David Chase so in retrospect we are all wrong...For now at least haha. Let's hope they pick back up the show or make a movie. Maybe Tony didn't die and maybe Sil came out of a coma. We will see. But we are obviously die hard fans and that's all that matters :-) I have a feeling if they do pick back up Anthony Jr and all the kids from the show will take over the "family bizz" haha. Just another cool idea. Keep watching!!!!

  • HE IS ALIVE!!! FUCK YOU ALL IF YOU DOUBT ME!! BOOO HOO HOOOOO!!

  • at first i thought the ending was crap.. but now that i understand it i think its genius and one of the best endings to a series.

  • Lets not forget the "Last Rites". Ever receive communion in church? The body & blood of Christ? Do you bite the eucharist? No... you place the entire thing on your tounge and close your mouth (as was done with the onion rings)... THEN... you sip the wine (as was done with the cokes). The only one who didn"t do this was meadow, which leads me to believe she is the sole survivor of the massacre.
