@fokkezor 80's hair metal died out with the decade. But that doesn't mean metal in general did. There's plenty of new aged (female) metal singers/bands who are really good (and can NOT even be compared to emo), just don't have that 80s style.

Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptations), Sarah Deva (Cradle of Filth/Angtoria), Tarja Turunen/Anette Olzon (former/current singers of Nightwish), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Otep...just some of the new age female metal singers.
