Then watch the video for "Miss Murder". Somehow Davey and AFI went from Total Immortal to Hot Topic over the years. Look at this and see how kick ass and Real the Misfits were and think about how AFI used to be before Punk became the new Pop Music of the last decade. Emo/Scene is a fad. Punk is dead.

Dude the Micheal Graves misfits wouldnt even have existed if it wasnt for Danzig. That dude single handily creates the image and sound that was the misfits. The rest of the guys just tried take glens idea and keep running with it, but its obvious they lack creative style and the substance danzig had, its almost comical really.
everyone always tries to down talk danzig and even graves for having bad live show's, but seriously you try to sing that fast for that long. see if you have any breath or energy left. and honestly punk was invented to protest angainst the commercialism of music during the 70's, it wasn't meant to be amazing live.
I appreciate your sentiments, and as far as the physical toll taken on the body by performance you're absolutely right. But what makes the Misfits great to me aside from being balls out Rockers is that they weren't protesting ANYTHING. They were about chaos and violence plain and simple.
@Armyrulz Some of their live albums were recorded with not much more time than it takes to play a couple of sets at a show because they didn't have enough money to afford more studio time. Basically, get your songs ready on your own before hand and then run into a studio, throw the tracks down as loudly as possible and then get the hell out. All that really did though was create a raw, non-produced and edgy sound that made them unique which was exactly what this music needed to be.
I love Glenn's voice and his singing, but Graves was eight trillion times better live than Danzig. It just pisses me off how they're always off-tempo and off-key live and how horribly they sing...they're way better than that. It honestly surprises me how they got so big with such horrible live performances. Don't get me wrong, The Misfits are one of my favorite bands, but come on...
I get what you're saying, but I think it's different being there. Like, I saw Dinosaur Jr at Pitchfork (so it was filmed) and thought it was fucking amazing. I watched the videos taken recently, and it was good but not all that great sounding...I think if you were there watching those guys, it'd be a different thing; just saying, back when the Misfits were starting, live videos like this were probably not nearly as common or well-distributed.

everyone always tries to down talk danzig and even graves for having bad live show's, but seriously you try to sing that fast for that long. see if you have any breath or energy left. and honestly punk was invented to protest angainst the commercialism of music during the 70's, it wasn't meant to be amazing live.

I appreciate your sentiments, and as far as the physical toll taken on the body by performance you're absolutely right. But what makes the Misfits great to me aside from being balls out Rockers is that they weren't protesting ANYTHING. They were about chaos and violence plain and simple.

@Armyrulz Some of their live albums were recorded with not much more time than it takes to play a couple of sets at a show because they didn't have enough money to afford more studio time. Basically, get your songs ready on your own before hand and then run into a studio, throw the tracks down as loudly as possible and then get the hell out. All that really did though was create a raw, non-produced and edgy sound that made them unique which was exactly what this music needed to be.

@Armyrulz The difference between Danzig live, and Graves live, is that Danzig actually sounded like he was trying.

I love Glenn's voice and his singing, but Graves was eight trillion times better live than Danzig. It just pisses me off how they're always off-tempo and off-key live and how horribly they sing...they're way better than that. It honestly surprises me how they got so big with such horrible live performances. Don't get me wrong, The Misfits are one of my favorite bands, but come on...

I get what you're saying, but I think it's different being there. Like, I saw Dinosaur Jr at Pitchfork (so it was filmed) and thought it was fucking amazing. I watched the videos taken recently, and it was good but not all that great sounding...I think if you were there watching those guys, it'd be a different thing; just saying, back when the Misfits were starting, live videos like this were probably not nearly as common or well-distributed.
