  • Good luck to him whatever the case

  • It's amazing this dude is still alive. and still a addict. I wonder if you mounted all the coke he has took and put it in one place. it would probably be so big it would have its own weather system.

  • @a1974h He's actually not an addict anymore, though due to his past he is broke and now lives in his car. He still makes music on his laptop

  • That man's voice moves me and the band was so funky, crushed hard on him as a little girl. oh yeah. timeless.

  • i swear this song is one of my favorite songs of all time !

  • This is sooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than the recorded version. Which, incidentally is itself a classic.

Such a talented man and such a talented band.

  • sly is a badass!

  • one of my favorite songs of all time...but feel kindof robbed cus of the speed!

  • This guy is coked out his own lyrics

  • To bad Sly is trying to sing this like a lounge lizard, no one else can find the beat because he's dragging everything out!

  • @amobofone what are you talking about? fucking idiot

  • AS YOU CAN TELL I AM GROVEN TODAY

  • His name probably should have been " Shy" instead of "Sly".

  • If you are a songwriter your lyrics come to you from the universal, monkey. Not Drugs or alcohal so go sell your voodoo to someone else idiot. Drugs are for losers.

  • @coolcat6098 Drug users have enriched your life. That is a fact. Perhaps you don't believe me? Well, the light you are enjoying, from that lightbulb? Motion pictures? Those were invented by a cocaine addict. His name was Thomas Edison. You could at least be a little gracious to the loser.....

  • @YukonGoldenBoy Drug users have wrote my life......

  • @YukonGoldenBoy Drug users have wrote my life......but in retrospect they dont make much sense!

  • He wasn't an alcoholic, he crushed hiself freebasing cocaine and crack cocaine. And Slys abuse of those drugs ended what would surely have been a much longer career, both for himself and the family Stone. He's staged a few comebacks, but could barely play at the events willing to book him. As for my spelling Yukon, of you choose to remark, it's a play on a song title, not a mistake on my part. Thanks for the useless pep talk on drugs though, mmmmK.

  • I always loved this song....

  • This is my favortite Sly song.

  • i say god damn this is some great music!!!

  • Fabulous 3 chord minimalist funk, with a fatalist edge!

Popular music was never the same again.

  • It wasn't just drugs... I know his family...

  • I love the trippy videoing and editing - so retro! Man where would i be without sly. GENIUS!!!

  • Sly is so gone in Sly world right now....but he's hammering that Organ..haha....forgot the other verses...repeated the first one twice...but hey...it's Sly. You're lucky he showed up lol.

  • @yalsmal: Larry Graham didn't play the bass on this track, it was Rusty Allen. Search for the soul train performance of this song and you'll see Freddy Stone introduce all of the band.

  • @derekgharris yeah larry and sly had fallen out by this time...too bad...

  • Thanks Larry Graham, for your amazing bassline...

  • Boy...he was wiped out during this!!

  • genius

drugs destroyed his carrier but he could have been bigger than elvis the beatles etc

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89

sadly you're right in many ways..

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 What role did alcohol play? Did the drugs allow him to write the songs in the first place? Also, your references to the pinnacle of superstardom; Elvis, the Beatles....um, massive drug abusers, all of them. The Beatles always contended drugs helped them write music, and Elvis only wrote about 2 of his own songs, cuz he preferred eating and drugs. A common misconception is that drugs are always bad, and thats false. Dangerous? Sometimes, yes. Also it's career, not "carrier".

  • @YukonGoldenBoy it comes out "carrier"from my ipohone as "bulk carrier vessels" is a major one n my emails. sorry 4the typo, mr finicky! drugs are not always bad? wow that a major demagogic statement. itdepends n the rates quantity quanlity what when etc. taking drugs fuck ur health in a waynot taking them doesnt. thats an obvious fact. if i knew about sly u would know what im talking about. it depends on what drug, frequency, etc. dont be that simplistic dude. u cannot compare people ...

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 drugs didn't destroy Sly, Sylvester destroyed Sly, an along with the other complexities associated with the Business of music. Today, he is alive and well, and maybe the happiest he's ever been. Imo of course...

  • @smrfox99 ok, so according 2 u "drugs" did 0% influence on him...yeah right

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 Unless you mean influence in the term of affecting one's state....uhh...duh? Isn't that obvious; it played a part, but in a whole like I said...in my given opinion, Sylvester destroyed Sly.

  • @smrfox99 WOW u seem to really like econometrics, right? dude, nobody gives a shit about that stupid shit about sly vs sly, retard.

  • Comment removed

  • @smrfox99 just apologize for being a retarded monkey

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 Oh wait, I just realized you're a troll ...lmao..I take that back eat a dick :-D

  • @smrfox99 OH SHIT UR running out of excuses...

  • @smrfox99 good one but u cannot answer anymore....maybe u take drugs and u think ur ok hahaha...poor little ignorant baztard

  • is all about the FUNK , boys and girl, if you didno,t have it . you don,t get it, and who wasno,t on dope back then

  • Dope song. All I am wondering is, how in the hell did he play with all that shit on.

  • yes yes...the bass is what got me hooked on this song...sick sick song...one of my favs...always hits those chords in my heart!

  • Yes this is magic but don't forget to mention who's all over that Hammond B3. That too needs to be acknowledged.

  • is that larry graham playing bass?

  • @TheAcidzephyr No. Larry had left by then, I think it was Rusty Allen.

  • @TheAcidzephyr should be

  • One of my favorite songs of all time! You're right, highonhendrix, this is a bass song. You got to give the bass player some play!

  • definitely on some drugs

  • That's Allright Though!!! Larry Grahm still worked it out...! Cynthia and the horns were incrdible and she doesn't age! She looked and sounded the same in 2008 as she did then...

  • @allday06 - So much soul - it's all about the groooooove, baby!

  • It's great when you have a bass-driven song like this one....and then the cameraman focuses on everyone BUT the bass player. Even the dummer got a close up!

  • wooooohhh, someone hates the bass player

  • I know I can't believe they dont focus on Larry. He is a genius a lot of the members of this band are including sly. Miles Davis loved this group and that had a lot to do with the cool stuff Miles did in the early 70 s

  • @highonhendrix From the 1 shot they gave him, I believe thats Graham.

  • Woooow I've never heard him that wasted. But This is great as Fresh is my favorite album

  • thanks for this

what year is it from? i'm not familiar with much live sly

  • from '73

  • You sure it is 73 it sounds like Larry but he was gone by then. The other base players had a lot of fun too , but larry usually did that cool patern from what I have heard.
