  • I just heard this on the radio and had to listen to it again. Good Stuff here.

  • George's first #1. All I can say is this guy did it in a time of no internet or computers. Worked hard to do it and is the pinnacle of country music. Not some fake ass shit like justin bieber who got popular on youtube, faked computer generated singing.I dont think beiber had to sing in a honky tonk. Just saying. Long live King George

  • the access purity of country music

  • Thank you King George for 30+ years of TRUE country music.

  • Apple is celebrating its anniversary on Youtube! Anyone on Youtube that sees this and texts #APPLE# to the number 46786 get a special gift from Apple!

  • He didn't play his guitar cause he's the King. He tells his guitar to play on its own and it says "Yes sir"

  • country and blues makes for a funky mix! :-)

  • Best band in music! And it helps to have great music and King George.

  • I wonder why he chose not to play his gutar.

  • Amazing how his voice has matured compared to the original recording ...wow

  • Wait ..... who did Barth Gaines listen to on his way to OSU, ..... someone who already had multiple #1 hits and now has over 55. The King is GS. And Hank & Bob Wills would be proud!!

  • @tplanefun It could just as easily be pointed out that Garth has sold three times as many records world-wide as GS, and had five sell-out world tours. George has never sold out a major venue outside North America. Don't think commercial success is in your favour it's not (not that I personally think commercial success is ever "proof" of musical greatness, it's not, but your the one trying to use it as such!)

  • I think "Chris Gaines" killed Garths Country.... Garth's alter ego! and I think Garth gave birth to Pop Country! George Strait is Country music. If it wasn't for George, there wouldn't be a Garth Brooks

  • @jrjrjr112 Garth Brooks gave birth to "country pop" (what about Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Charlie Pride, The Judds, etc??) Also "Overnight Male", "Easy Come Easy Go", "Blue Clear Sky", "Baby Blue", etc are not stone country songs, they could just as easily be sung by pop singers!

  • Garth is GOD of country. Nobody has ever done what garth has done to country music .So george is the king

  • Garth is GOD of country. Nobody has ever done what garth has done to country music .

  • thank god there is still alan jackson and george strait

  • i was in my late teens when i heard this song. love his singing, but his fiddle

player makes this song. LOVE HIS DRUMMER TOO

  • Was at this concert with my best friend Jessica Jo, RIP and we had the best time ever!!!

  • Best artist EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LYRICS!! || EasyLyrics . org/?artist=George+Strait&title=Unwound

  • @oldermusiclover I've been long time friends with his drummer for years and because of him i got back into listening to GS.

  • he done that one here?

  • What ever happened to music on CMT? huh?

  • @justinloyal it's on in the morning

  • This is his first song that I fell in LOVE with. The first time I saw him in Hanford, CA they asked me where I wanted to sit....I told them on his face!!! Got second row seats. I would do him in a minute!

  • KING GEORGE U R AWESOME!!!

    +Brittney sia lee+

  • very Nice, george.

  • Honky Tonk at its finest...doesnt get much better than this

  • John Wayne past away, George Strait is the last real cowboy.

  • @tlcarroll john wayne

  • @tlcarroll I totally agree with you there. He is such a great guy too.

  • @christinafrazier23 yea he's really humbel also

  • @tlcarroll i agree George Strait is a cowboy but I won't say he is the last one on the national scene,, thank God.

  • @tlcarroll John Wayne played a cowboy George Strait is a true Texas Cowboy!

  • Steel Curtain I too think I am his biggest fan .Texas is a wonderful state .

  • King of Country right there yall nobody'll ever touch this mans accomplishments EVER!!!!!

  • I agree , I grew up in amarillo texas and i have been listening to geroge strait literally since he started and i truly think i am the biggest fan ..I live in Illinois now and these people here have no clue what real country is I miss home and Texas country which in my opinion is far different from the rest of the country .

  • i was born and bred in Wisconsin, I love George Strait.

  • haha totally true about people in illinois my dads family is from there and it cracks me up when they talk about "their" music.

  • @HBMGR Depends what you mean. Sure Strait has great acompishments, and has recorded many classic songs. However in terms of world-wide acompishments the biggest stars in country music's history are Kenny Rogers & Garth Brooks. They were stars far as far afield in Europe; Hong Kong; India; Aus & NZ, scoring millions of more fans than Strait ever has and have had multiple sellout world tours. At least 90% of Strait's success has been confined to North America.

  • @FabFM yea that may be true but if it wasnt for george (the king of country) garth wouldn't even be a singer. so that just poves that george is better granted garth is good but not as good!!!!!\

    I LOVE GEORGE STRAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrGeorgestrait97 What kind of sence does that make? If it wasn't for Hank Williams and Conway Twitty they'd be no George Strait, is this "proof" Strait's music is worse than those two?

I know Garth Brooks decided to become a singer after he heard Strait Country in 1981, but that is not "proof" that Strait is any better (or worse). I like both, but prefer Garth Brooks.

  • @FabFM no i am sorry but that not ture if i wasnt for georges wife norma he would not be singing country he would be in uvalde tx work at some shop insteade of singing

  • @donjohnsonbond1260 Of course it's true. Hank and Conway lay the foundations people like Strait based their music on.

  • @FabFM Garth is not even country so why are we comparing him to George Strait. Compare him to Billy Joel.

  • @cowboyfan1113 Garth is country, whether you like it or not, Country is a diverse genre, not just honky tonk.

  • @FabFM Garth is country and i am a diverse version of the pope, Garth is country to some people but not for true country music fans. Country is not just honky tonk i do agree..........Merle, Hank Jr , are country and not Honky tonk. If waylon jennings were still alive he could settle this argument and tell us if garth was country. I believe I know what he would say.

  • @cowboyfan1113 Waylon Jennings was never the ultimate say on country music, especially when he was rocking n rolling himself. You may not like Garth Brooks but he is a country artist. You have no right to say someone is not a true country fan because they like Garth Brooks. If we listened to people like you, Country would have died with Hank Williams!

  • @FabFM No offense man, you can listen to whoever you want, if you want to call Garth Country than that is your choice. I am just someone who likes pure country music and it sucks that its gone. Garth helped kill it in my opinion. Don Williams, Vern Gosdin, Alan Jackson, George Jones, Merle Haggard...thats country music. And now you have just put down Waylon!!!! LOL You may be a true country music fan...that is correct, but where I come from, Garth is not country.

  • @cowboyfan1113 So it was Garth Brooks who killed country? When someone brings a musical format to millions all over the globe (and who clearly has talent, Brooks is certainly not a hyped up pretty boy) they haven't killed it, they have breathed new life into it. You may not like Brooks, that's fine, but his achivements speak for themselves and like Strait, people will still be listening to his music in another 30, 40, 50 years.

  • @FabFM Garth Brooks will tell you who the king is and it isnt him ... George Strait inspired Garth and thank god he did because I agree with you that Garth definatly breathed life back into country . I just love country music period i like the classics , the 90's and todays . we need variety and i believe thats what we get so lets just enjoy the music and support our fav artists like Brad Paysley said we are the most loyal fans

  • @steelcurtain1977 So what? Would George Strait say "I'm the greatest of all-time. I'm the king of country". No he wouldn't. Just because Garth thinks GS is the king of country, dosen't mean I (or anyone else) has to. Elvis Presley never considered himself the greatest, yet many millions do!

  • @FabFM well you are right you are absolutly entitled to your opinion ...so my bad . Now to your Garth killed it you are somewhat correct . He killed traditional country and western and made it main stream . I like the classics mostly but there is a few today that are doing their damnest to keep honkytonk music alive . take care man and once again I appologise and agree that you are entitled to your opinion

  • @steelcurtain1977 That's cool. I still disagree Garth killed country. Did acts like George Strait stop making records because he came along? Of course not. He didn't kill anything, he just gave people more choice. He wasn't the Walmart to the mom n pop stores by any means. Cheers, and take care too!

  • @FabFM I amnot daying he killed country music i was saying country and western two separate things . I amnot sure what your age is but country and western is like from 1990ish and back . I like Garth Brooks always will . I like just about all country music I just think there is different variations which i think makes it better you have more variety as long as they dont just go grunge or total rap i will continue being a fan

  • @steelcurtain1977 He didn't kill it though. If something is still here it's not been killed. If something's killed that means its gone. Yet even you say there are many who continue playing the music. That's like saying the beatles killed off elvis presley. they didn't. presleys career continued, and country and western is still around today. Garth Brooks wasn't the first artist to mix country with rock and pop, that started in the 60s.

  • @FabFM I said garth helped to kill it. It all depends on one's view of what country is, you are probably someone who thinks there are country boys in New york City. Garth is Urban Cowboy country music.

  • @cowboyfan1113 No, if something is "killed" then it's gone. finished. done. That is not the case. Therefore it was not killed, and Garth didn't help do something that was never done!

  • @FabFM Well not only do i disagree with you but also George Strait and Alan Jackson disagree "They committed murder down on music row"...........listen to the song

  • @cowboyfan1113 In that case then you're right, it's dead.... stop playing music then and stop buying the records

  • @FabFM LOL, sensitive guy arent you?? Fortunately they still sell George Jones and Merle Haggard, wanna be cowboys like you can stil buy Garth{Chris Gaines} records.....so we both are happy. Its a win win situation!!!!! YEAH!!!! FABM you are wonderful.....you and Chris Gaines are my heroes!!!! LOVE YA MAN and please keep being you, the world is blessed to have you!!!

  • @cowboyfan1113 No not sensitive, just proving your wrong, and so have you. If it was "dead" then they wouldn't still sell. FACT. You can knock Garth Brooks all you want, but that will never change the fact your so-called "real cowboys" were more than happy to ride his coattails when he was the biggest singer on the planet in the 1990s!

  • @FabFM Listen, its obvious that you have some type of fascination and deep feelings for Garth....that's fine, you can like him all you want....i like a few of his songs. However true country music fans including myself feel that Garth was terrible for country music. He helped to kill/change it into some other form of music that is not what country was meant to be. You can like him. Go post your love comments about him on his videos. Leave Straits videos for country fans like me.

  • @cowboyfan1113 No, you don't own YT and people can debate here about the genre. This is not the GS love site. Maybe you should start one. I actually like a lot of GS's music, never said I didn't infact. I was debating with someone else (who was not an arsehole) and you added your two cents. If you can't stand the heat pal, don't come in the kitchen!

  • @FabFM LMAO, people like you are funny!!! I love it!!! "if you cant stand the heat pal, dont come in the kitchen" LMAO that is great. And what makes you think that i am not the owner of YT. Perhaps I am. Perhaps I am a major shareholder of YT. You are great, funny guy....not to shabby for a non country music Garth lover!! LMAO

  • @cowboyfan1113 Maybe I know you're not the owner of YT, because I am! And don't think YOU telling me I'm funny will offended me, it won't. On the flip side, I don't find you funny, I find you peculiar!
