@1Prayerwarrior22, When I had this phone it was my first Smart Phone. It was also my first phone with Nokia's Symbian OS. But I found it pretty easy to set up and it only took me like a couple of days to master the phone and OS. I have an Android phone now and there are times when I do miss this phone (Nokia E71) and its OS. Whats really nice about this phone now is that u can buy one for like $100 new. I had to pay $200 when it was first launched.
wanna start off by saying you were REALLY helpful. i am thinking of getting this phone. but i got a couple questions for ya. can you have a certain set ringtone for different people when they text you? on the screensaver, can you have your own picture, one that you took? thanks you very much!
I have a question... The side buttons on the Nokia E71, on mine dose not do anthing. I dont know what they are for, besides adjusting the call and player volume. Let me know.
hey bud, can you help me with my nokia e71 maps? i cant see a damn thing. i cant see the road, the map, the route. nothing.no streets. only a red dot on my positiion. is there something wrong with my settings?im with straight talk tho.help can you message me in my inbox or just reply here,.thanks
@aceman42 thats because ur memory card is full that happened to me today and i figured out that it was the lilttle memory that was full so i changed it and it worked fine
BTW I use 4184.8 MB of data in just 1 week. I know it's unlimited data But does the ST decrease throttle my speed after the limit or is just unlimited speed.
I have an I phone 4 running on ST service. In my house Wi-Fi speed is 713kbps DL & 105kbps UL witch is slow speed. But my iPhone speed in my home aria is 3.5mbps DL & 1.2mbps UL witch is way faster the my house Internet. In my Lexus dealer aria speed is 5.7mbps DL & the same 1.2mbps UL now fastest speed in that aria. I call that 4G speed to me. BTW what is the 3.5G mean.
hey is that phone better than a blackberry. im a die hard blackberry user but i want to go to straight talk but they dont have a blackberry. so does this phone even come close to a blackberry. because i need a corporate phone.
@carloshill76, Yes. This phone is better in my opinion then any of the 8000 series Blackberries. One of my friends who owns an Blackberry 8520 also likes my phone more then his.
Thanks for review, some people apparently did not watch your video very well as you answered many questions that they asked, I am going to get this phone as soon as my 3 month card runs out.
@Guillermo2970498, I am pretty sure Netflix will NOT work on this phone. I have never tried, but I tried to go to Hulu and couldn't. The reason being, The Nokia E71 only supports Java "Light". You have to have the full Java capability on your phone to watch movies, TV Shows etc, via Hulu or Netflix. Most smart phones dont have the full version of Java on the phone. Not even most androids. You can however, download the movie to the Micro SD card and watch a movie or TV show that way.
How has AT&T service been for you in terms of call quality and texting? I've read bad review on AT&T service. I"ve had Verizon for years and never had any problem with dropped call or not being able to make a call. I'm in the Chicago area. Thanks!
@kinura8, Well I have been using the ST E71 for about 2 1/2 months now and haven't had any dropped calls yet, and call quality is good. Texting is very good also. Is At&t as good as Verizon, on par for the most part. Coverage in my area is excellent with At&t (Metro Atlanta), so no issues there. Coverage is also very reliable here too. You would have to visit the At&t website and see if coverage is good for your area to find out. The data speed is 3.5G in my area and is really fast.
Also, when you need to call 411. not only is it free, but its At&t's 411 and not that ad supported 411 crap. So thats a plus. The phone also comes preloaded with Nokia Ovi Navigator, which provides free voice A-GPS navigation (Walking & Driving). Its does a pretty good job too. Not the best but its free and works, so cant complain. Since this is a smart phone, you can download a ton of free apps. My favorite is the Joiku HotSpot app. Which allows you to use your phone as a 3.5G HotSpot.
yes i have alot of questions about this fone,is the facebook app free?and can i get on faceboook with out the app? and can you set a ringtone as a message tone? is the ringer volume loud? is the youtube app free? and is the myspace app free? does this fone have yahoo messenger? can you chat in facebook? can you set a signature in text messaging and last can you take that active standbye or whatever all that writing on the screeen off? PLZZZZ!! RESPON I WOULD APPRECIATE IT ALOT!
does it have an app to listen to radio stations around the world? one of my friends has that with sprint and he can listen to stations all over the world; sports, news, and music. That would be great if it did.
@krazykarls96, The app is called Joiku Hotspot Premium, and it cost a 1 time fee of $10 to install. The app allows u to use your phones(E71) built in Wifi receiver to use as a hotspot receiver. Allowing u to connect a laptop, iPad, PC etc. to At&t's 3.5G internet through your phone. I use it sporadically on my laptop and I get download speeds between 1.2mb-3.0mb and uploads between 100kbps-350kbps. Not bad but not quite as fast as 4G. Still for $45 a month, Best bang for your buck
@haroonchaudhry, ST is an MVNO carrier, which means they buy and then resell service from 1 of 4 of the MNO carriers to u. MNO means "Mobile Network Operator", Verizon, At&t, Sprint and T-Mobile are MNO carriers. They have there own infrastructure (Towers) to provide service. MVNO's do not, they lease from 1 or more from the MNO's carriers to provide service. ST use Verizon's, At&t and T-Mobile's network to provide service. With my phone I use At&t's, But ST have phones that use the other 2.
@haroonchaudhry, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Page Plus etc are all MVNO's. Any carrier provider that does not have there own network (Towers) is an MVNO. If u are still confused I recommend going to Wikipedia to school yourself. They explain it alot better then me. Sorry
Nokia did the smart thing by still staying with the same charger they have had since the black and white display screen phones so one does not have to spend more money buying a new charger, I have so many Nokia chargers laying around my house.
I don't think I would like the volume buttons with the speaker phone button between them, it would seem like you would hit the button by mistake when trying to adjust the call volume during a call by feeling for them.
@dallase1, The speaker phone button is in the front. Its the same key as the camera key, except during a call its the speaker button. Thats the default key, you can customize any key to your liking.
Huh? but you said in the video I think this is the speaker phone button and pointed to the button in the middle of the volume up /down buttons. What is that middle button for?
you can customize any key to your liking? That's Cool! I wish that was true with the Samsung t401g so you can change or disable the browser key because it sucks when you have NET10 and bump that dang button and waste a minute of air time.
Looks like Nokia is finally back making great phones.
I just curious: What Verizon-powered Verizon do/did you have? I have the Straight Talk Samsung R355C (personal usage) in addition to Straight Talk Nokia E71 (business usage(l I thought about getting the Straight Talk Nokia 6790 Smart Phone but it seems unprofessional than the two phones I currently have. Ok, Some of you are asking some stupid questions. Here is the best answer to most of them. THIS IS A SMART PHONE. Is the Opera browser better than the default browser?
Good news, I just bought an Aiptek A-HD+ camcorder on Ebay, So I should be receiving it in the mail by this weekend and I will be doing another review in HD.
Yes you can play games. You can install at either Nokia's Ovi Store or at GetJar.com. I prefer the Ovi store but there isn't as many apps there as GetJar.com.
Oh and by the way there is a nice interactive tutorial on straighttalk*com that walks you through all the features in case anybody didnt know. Go to straigttalk*com --> Support --> Phones --> E71 --> then pick from the categories.
Thanks for the review. I didnt really mind the quality cuz ive already seen about ten videos of the e71 so i know in detail what it looks like already, but yours was a lot more informative.
