Everyone is missing the point. THE POINT is that in the original episode the talisman didn't change gender or develepmental age. So it shouldn't have done that in this episode. Jade is a child so she should have become a cub, and she is a female so she should have become a female lion.

And for the record, a lioness IS a lion. "Lioness" is just the name that we use for the female of the species, but they're still the same species.
