I don't agree with the conduct of Israel nor the way in which it was established. However I think he may have a point with Palestine being a region not a state though. For example Germania was a region but it was only in 1871 that Germany became a unified sovereign state I think (the Second Reich). Palestine may have just been a region with various groups/tribes living in it but didn't have any kind of semblance of state-hood. It is a distinction worth noting if nothing else.

Then again statehood is a relatively new concept that derived from the Treaty of Westphalia in the mid-19th century. The arabs back were either tribal like you said or under Ottoman control, and their understanding of state obviously differs from the Western definition. I believe Palestine used to be under Ottoman control, but maybe Euro powers didn't see it that way.

I admit there is a difference between the two but it isn't as big as the Left wish it was. They exaggerate the difference merely to try and distance themselves from the atrocities of Communism. I don't agree with the conduct of Israel nor the way in which it was established. However I think he may have a point with Palestine being a region not a state though. For example Germania was a region but it was only in 1871 that Germany became a unified sovereign state I think (the Second Reich). Palestine may have just been a region with various groups/tribes living in it but didn't have any kind of semblance of state-hood. It is a distinction worth noting if nothing else.

@RoyalistNationalist I see ur point now...that region used to be called trans-jordania if i'm not mistaken (I could be wrong). Then again statehood is a relatively new concept that derived from the Treaty of Westphalia in the mid-19th century. The arabs back were either tribal like you said or under Ottoman control, and their understanding of state obviously differs from the Western definition. I believe Palestine used to be under Ottoman control, but maybe Euro powers didn't see it that way.

The whole subject of race and science isn't easy to go into because politics has long since infiltrated it.
However I think it is fair to say that any 'invaders' we have had here have been fairly close genetically speaking, all part of the same race and quite close within that (as in not the central Asians or north Africans).
It hardly matters either way because all the 'invasions' combined total an averaged 25% genetic contribution to the indigenous people.

I wouldn't say they're close to you as a Brit or me as a Canadian-Spaniard. Plus Euros have very diverse features from Nordic to Mediterranean. Egyptians and Ghanians have diff features too. The whole white/black/ color terminology is invalid, and white/black/Latino power movements are as a result defunct.

I'm no gene scientist but in my opinion I would classify them as follows (purely examples) French, British, Germans very closely related. Scandinavian/Nordic peoples slightly further off. Spanish, Italians, Greeks further off and then central Asians further off again.
I believe that once some less corrupt governments get in power the whole race question can be properly researched and firm conclusions drawn. There is too much political interference and taboos in it atm.

How can there be a mural in Parliament from 1179 when that building was only built in the 19th century? I think the mural of Richard the Lionheart dates from the mid 19th century. Galloway shouldnt make a mistake like that. However, the point still stands, Palestine has existed from the Roman period to the 20th century, and was called Palestine in Europe and the Middle East for 2000 years.

We called it Palestine in the Tudor period, the Middles Ages and the Roman age. We always called the people who lived there Palestinians. @Cybopath I know the inside of the house of commons quite well, and the mural in question is definately 19th century. Not just the wall and plaster, but the artistic style is clearly not mediaeval but in the style of Victorian Romanticism. Galloway clearly knows very little about art or the history of that building. But, as I said, he knows a lot about Palestine and the political situation. Like most politicians he doesnt have a broad view, but is good at specific issues.

As for your inability to do your homework, he was found liable in a civil trial for wrongful death and battery. Meaning he is guilty, and if not for the double jeopardy laws would have been retried criminally. You made the unfortunate mistake of not paying attention to the charges you were looking up. His most recent series of offenses are criminal not civil, regarding the robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas of which he was found guilty and i believe is trying to appeal. Better luck next time.

Not "unanimously recognised" is it? And what makes you think that's at all relevant? Both groups engage on deliberate attacks on civilians (although Hamas claims to have stopped this). And it has been observed tiresomely often that Hamas is in the business of murdering their political opponents and their supporters and killing people without trials for "crimes" such as suspected adultery. Israel is in many ways just as bad or worse, but that isn't an excuse for fascist brigands like Hamas.

Hamas doesn't deny doing them, so it isn't me who refutes your point but the perps themselves. The Al-Qassam brigades are the paramilitary wing of the party, similar to the way the SS was for the nazi party (not comparing the two in terms of evil, just in terms of structuring). Hamas enforcers still round up Fatah members and supporters and kills them using bogus charges and without trial.
