Oh yeah I agree, tofu is crazy hot in that, I really gotta try a nabe once I get to Japan~ I tried a shabu shabu here but heh not sure if it's the real deal~
thats about what I love about japanese cooking, the large amount of vegetables and kinda like you said, it just seems so light compared to other things you normally eat here and it tastes great no less.
nabe sounds oh so good too, I'm jealous.
"and then your gunna get very very sick, okay dont do that ;)" lol
looks like you were enjoying yourself this time around.
o.O kimchi in nabe, sounds so good but so dangerous as well.
I love the "sauna" part!! so funny! I heard western people feel uncomfortable eating nabe. They don't like putting chopsticks in the same nabe. Is that true?
@adakkochan really? but you do that with everything in japanese food. you know you can flip the sticks and use the other side to be really polite but most times japanese will just say - you dont have to do that...or look at you strange. i personally have never gotten sick or seen someone get upset that we are using the same side of the chopsticks. also i mean you are dipping them into boiling water. the chances of cross contamination are pretty impossible in such an environment.
Very interesting video ! Like some other people said you looked very excited and I liked the "face over the steam" thing it made me laugh ~ I love japanese cooking !!! <3
wow look at you chef unrested! coming form a chef my self i like the way you did the demo. good info and description. especially the tongue flipping after saying how good its gona be lol. great demo i would love to see more vids like this.
CoooL, what a coincidence. A Japanese friend in my dorm is going home to japan for new year and he said he could bring some ingredients for making nabe. And I was like, what's that? And he said, "you'll see". 5 min later I see this vid in my subs!
Dude, you sure are american :P. With all the warnings. In US u have to warn for everything right, EVERYTHING (e.g: dont stop chainsaw with hands). Cool vid though : )
@doggybag71 wait no hands on chainsaw? perhaps i'll sub teeth instead. actually japan is even more ridiculous on warnings. one of my favorite is not leaning your head off the side of an escalator and letting it be smashed my the oncoming ceiling. illus. are included too!
@Ventdemon i actually cant grow sideburns, or a beard or mustache. i have always wanted sideburns, but on the upside not being able to grow facial hair keeps you looking young as most people do not believe i am 30
i know, i remember when i thought you were 20, you told me you coudn't grow side burns. Getting alzheimerz old man, hahahaha. maybe in the next milestone. Keep the peace bro
living in paris before i started spending 3months a year in osaka...i never thought i would be bringing back food from japan for my french dinner table;but each time i bring back sesame sauce and sesame salad dressing.
what i like most about eating in japan is that when using chopsticks i can't shove food into my mouth like i can with a fork or spoon...& there is really no need to!
Haha really funny video. I know that the point of a FAQ is to answer all the questions but it's funny how far you go into detail. Also why would you make me hungry for something I cannot get here? So jealous...
I've never used the Japanese version, but I've been using the Korean one since I don't have time to take both classes. It's okay, and kind of neat, but I wouldn't recommend using JUST that.
I would be interested on seeing your review on it though, I highly recommend a torrent or maybe just the "free trial" that they offer. Anyone who buys the actual program is crazy IMO. Advice from youtuber "koichiben" is to go to Japan for the same price and become a hobo. Learn the language, and be in Japan.
i have a question for ya . now that your married and someday you will have kids in the japanese culture its exspected for a woman to quit her job and go home to ba a mother. will your wife do the same and make you the main bread winner? dont want to sound nosey but was just wondering. peace
@riztar it is common, but being an international family i would never expect my wife to do as such. just like everything we do - it will be a shared task. although most japanese kids are raised solely by their mothers i have a long history and knowledge of child care and plan to play a massive role in my kids life.
i dont think i could move to japan just because i am the pickest eater, but i am trying to eat different things. when you first moved to japan did you find it hard to ajust to the different foods?
@barrettsalive yeah it was a bit hard at first. like the rice...i couldnt get used to a giant load of rice added to alot of dishes. but over time my tastes have changed and i also found adding raw egg to rice(common in japan) makes me really enjoy it.
"Don't put your face here- you'll diiiiieee!" haha! great stuff! :P

Nabe is definitely my favorite meal here in Japan. My host mother makes it here and there and each time it is amazingly good.
Plus, its a good family dish and everyone sitting around the table provides a good atmosphere.
She made tori-dango last time :)

LOL Goofy bastard!
One thing I make often is Ramen:
Two cups of water, the raman seasoning packet
Small amount of sesame oil
four gyozo (what ever flavor you like) boil 3 minutes, after two minutes add
four slices of sliced pork for hot pot
Raman noodles (out of the package)
When the noodles are boiled dig in!
Very tasty and very quick too.

I personally hate having facial hair. Every 2-3 days I have to waste 30 minutes shaving, just so I don't look like a creeper.
