You know I don't understand why people are so critical of Byrdmaniax. I think it holds many wonderful gems (ie "My Destiney", "Kathleen's Song", "Jamaica Say You Will", just to name a few). I do agree that some of the sounds are alittle murkey but I think it just adds character to the album. That what I think anyway.
Impeccable acoustic guitar work from Clarence. Great pedal steel from Sneaky Pete, and Gene Parsons working out the super high vocal parts. Awesome stuff.
@nkfiddler13 This is from the Japan-only quad mix of Byrdmaniax. It's actually the rear channels, isolated. That mix has a LOT of marked differences from the stereo, for starters, it's not as sludgy and compressed. Worth seeking out, it's uh, out there on the net.
yes that LP was really murky sounding , and so was Dr Byrds and Mr Hyde. You'd think that McGuinn would go back and remix them with out the sludge and over productions.

agree. i loved the last three byrds albums, but the compression was just too damn much...
