  • You know I don't understand why people are so critical of Byrdmaniax. I think it holds many wonderful gems (ie "My Destiney", "Kathleen's Song", "Jamaica Say You Will", just to name a few). I do agree that some of the sounds are alittle murkey but I think it just adds character to the album. That what I think anyway.

  • @ZenLay1968 Also; I do enjoy this instrumental take of My Destiney, even with the out of tune vocals lol.

  • agree. i loved the last three byrds albums, but the compression was just too damn much...

  • Impeccable acoustic guitar work from Clarence. Great pedal steel from Sneaky Pete, and Gene Parsons working out the super high vocal parts. Awesome stuff.

  • What is the source of this alternate mix?

  • @nkfiddler13 This is from the Japan-only quad mix of Byrdmaniax. It's actually the rear channels, isolated. That mix has a LOT of marked differences from the stereo, for starters, it's not as sludgy and compressed. Worth seeking out, it's uh, out there on the net.

  • yes that LP was really murky sounding , and so was Dr Byrds and Mr Hyde. You'd think that McGuinn would go back and remix them with out the sludge and over productions.
