Lefty huh?. . . . must be nice to not have to move all night. Great accomplishment but I have had a few 800+ series that could have easily been 900's if I didn't lose carry or have to constantly move and chase the oil all night. I'd bet a C note right now there wan't another lefty on that pair.....
Still look back at the night Glenn Allison bowled his 900 series, before reisin reactive, before synthetic lanes and you had to fenice the ball. It was a little more unheard of then and he did it !! On a league night with 9 other people bowling on the pair of lanes that night which meant ha had to adjust his line a little and keep the ball in the pocket. But ABC comes in two days later and says that the lanes had a feathered oil pattern. Til this day I still think it was a gross injustice.
My boy Mr. Howell. For everyone commenting on his finish, ways of bowling, etc. Just take note that the greatest thing about bowling is that no 2 styles are alike. He is a great bowling and is well known around here in NY. He's such a nice guy and has helped me with my game.
his finish kinda makes him look like a douche.....just play the game and play it well, and people will respect and love you. no need for extra antics.
of course its a lefty....if a righty threw the ball like that he would be lucky to get 36 strikes in a months period. the left side of the lane helped this guy out more then any other factor
@LeKuhns exactly! usually standard courtesy dicates the both lanes adjacent to a potential 300 bowler to stop and be quiet, and this is for a potential 900 series, i would had imagined everyone would had stopped bowling period
@GrowtheSport dude, i don't see how @wiiman0001 is using offensive language or pretty much any language other than voicing his own opinion if a polite matter. so don't tell some one to "watch the language" if they aren't using any inapropriate language.
I don't know about the entire not noticing people have stopped bowling around you when you have the first 9. I've been in that position a few times and a bomb could explode three pairs down, I wouldn't even notice, I just got that focused.
@hit9uget9 I have problems on a house shot with oil pushdown etc.. just as much as a pro shot at times. Obviously house shot scores are higher... but to go 36 consecutive strikes w/o getting tapped at least one time is really lucky on top of amazing skill.
@joepic85 the luck part i agree - skill, not so much. I have personally thrown 36 consecutive shots in the pocket (many times). I just didn't shoot 900. Many people I know in the sport have done this. The point I am trying to make is that's it's SUPER easy to hit the pocket 36 times in a 3 game set. Bowling isn't about hitting a mark anymore...it's about rev's and like I said, as long as you get in that 5-8 board area; you will score.
@hit9uget9 How is bowling about revs? Yeah today's bowlers want to crank the ball like no tomorrow but if you can't hit your mark then you wont score. I'm 18 and I've been bowling only three years and not throwing a lot of revs I've raised my avg from 120 to well into the 170s. I know I'm not pro but bowling will always be about hitting your mark and consistency. Not trying to sound rude but that's pretty much how it goes.
@7464C well not to sound rude...but bowling isn't about hitting a mark (anymore). It's about hitting an area. If you have enough revolutions on the ball you will create a mix up and increase your pin carry. In 1970; bowling was about hitting ' a mark'. Now it isn't. You're very young and if you stick with the sport and learn it you'll understand what I'm talking about. If you're talking about the Pro Tour than yes....but house league play is a joke abnd way to easy.
@7464C Bowling is not always about hitting a "mark", revs are very important due to the fact that higher rev count means bigger pin action, you could go Brooklyn with high rev and demolish all ten pins, you can even hit the 1 pin head on and STILL get a strike because of the pin action. Of course if you can hit the same exact spot every time with the same speed you'll strike every time, but you can't, so yeah revs are really important in bowling
@jonnagilda Its not because the amateurs are better bowler, but because they bowl on a houseshot... When you have the front 30 strikes its kind of hard to hit the excact spot on the lane that you're looking for... When on a houseshot you can miss some boards and still get a solid pocket hit :) Thats why
@jonnagilda Its not because the amateurs are better bowlers, but because they bowl on a houseshot... Congrats!!! Whether it's fresh oil, lefty, cranker, whatever..... a 900 series not alone a 300 game is not easy to achieve. Instead of trying to justify why it was "easy" for him to bowl a 900, why can't we just congratulate him. You haters need a hug?!?!? LOL!
I bowl in the house - and he wasnt prebowling... It is actually a second shift league starting at 9 on thursday night. And they do not reoil in between leagues!! So forget whatever you are thinking about being easier - it was a harder shot then cake patterns - wtg bill!
@afpmx honestly, if you are in the room with someone who has hit 2 straight 300's and he's on his 9th frame, all strikes, would you be bowling, or watching? i'd be the guy holding the camera for sure!
@MrPs103 If I'm bowling a good score, I don't want the feeling of people stopping what they are doing just to focus on me. I believe that a mojority of bowlers would want the flow to be the same as it has been the whole night. I would have bowled on the lane next to him (always giving proper courtesy and etiquette) to let him know that even though I am aware of what he is doing, I'm not fully putting the spotlight on him.
@spacitybowler I'll second that motion. I've gone so far as to motion people to come back to the approaches on some of the occasions I've "made it to the dance" (my term for getting the first 9, and stepping up for the 10th frame). Absolutely want the flow (and for me, especially, the volume level) to be constant.
@afpmx i wouldnt want to be the one that got in his head even if i was 3 lanes down lol. but when i shot my 300 i did wish that people hadnt had stopped bowling to come watch me
i guess this shows how easy house shots have become. but then again i cant talk cuz i havent even bowled 1 300. start making league shots harder please.....
