oddly the ident was sold by central tv in 2006 to the al'quereshi-massod eastern production company. the same multi channel animated old ATV ident as above, is now used for the afghanistan national television channel (afghan tv). its used for a 10sec holding standby ident before any government announcements are broadcast.
@ianupton; Call me a sceptic, but the only Google results for "al'quereshi-massod"" are... your comment above. Not even a misspelling suggestion. Are you telling porkies by any chance? :-)
Did this strike prevail over much of 70/71? I was a bit too young, then, only - I DO remember Coronation St's "Val" being electrocuted, in a b/w episode: aired in 1971. The earliest I recall of Coro being broadcast in colour, was during 1972. I realise this was a Granada production, but I presume the IBA regions would all begin broadcasting in colour in unison, wouldn's they?
Wow, this takes me back to my childhood.

This was used for B/W films and/or programmes shown on ATV.

Short but sweet! :-)

Sorry to contradict, but this was used from 1969, alongside the colour one.
For the first few years after colour was introduced in 1969, some programmes were still made in black and white. This is what preceded them.

It was actually put to most use during the great colour strike of 70-71, when ITV technicians took industrial action by switching off the colour.

Have they switched it back on yet?

Sorry to inform you, yes they have switched it back on, back in 1971.
