@BudgieV8 They used 2 cars, the 'pretty' one and the stunt one. 1 is now outside the BBC TV Centre, the 2nd is heavily damaged and in the care of the original maintainer. No cars were sold on. Check out Quattroforum for the details.
It was hinted that he got his quattro as a shady import from Germany. Maybe he didn't want to answer questions about where he got a left-handed quattro a year before it was released when he got it repainted.
This is actually an extended in-joke. It's a virtual shot-for-shot, angle-for-angle remake of the scene opening Life on Mars episode 3. If you directly compare the two, you really see the planning: The actors here copy everything, right down to the postures, gestures, facial expressions, where they look, and when.
While I don't quite see the point of doing this here, I can't really complain, because that sequence was one of my absolute favourites from all of Life on Mars!
There are loads of Life on Mars fans in Canada. (Probably all ex-pats like me mind you)! Ashes to Ashes hasn't started yet - have tried to find out if 'BBC Canada' will be showing it but haven't had any luck finding out! We'll probably have to wait until the DVD comes out and import it from the UK!
Jan 5 2008 - BBCC is showing it starting soon but don't say in their schedule when it is actually starting. Their site just says it will be on at 10 pm on Wednesdays.

Oh yes, fans of the excellent Life on Mars exist in Canada!! Not enough though (my enthusiasm makes up for some of the shortfall, but I can't do it ALL myself, y'know!)..and all the Canadian fans I've met, I've met online!
