What is "really cold and really windy"? 0F? Because 0 to -10 is the range I'm looking to gear up for. I have a ski mask and a cap, but its very easy to block breathing and sweat like a pig if it's not cold enough.
@latuman here in Texas we don't really get weather THAT cold. But the core concept remains the same. You have to layer.
For temperatures that cold, start with a good sweat-wicking base layer, add on an insulating layer, and then add a wind blocking layer. Covering your face is hard because of the water vapor in your breath. I recommend keeping it covered with the ski mask though to prevent chapped lips.
This should keep you dry and reasonably warm even in 0 to -10 degree weather.
