i wonder why italy only won twice in all these years!! There are a lot of songs which are still popular today... for example volare ohhh, cantare ohhh...
Trulyloyale, you are BORING, you keep saying the same thing. Tonight the millions of people that tune into RAI to watch the final will make you eternally wrong.
@seymourdix1 ehm to tell the truth Italy is not really coming back to the ESC ridiculous trash , its only the winner of Italian X-Factor who 's been appointed from RAI's 2nd channel to perform the English version of the winning song at the ESC . That was an unrehearsed decision only to please implorant EBU who asked Italy to help Eurovision some way, due to the hard problems of the ESC and to the big lack of interest among European audience in recent years .
Was really Italy coming back to ESC, the representing artists would have picked from Sanremo Festival as it used to be customable at the times Italy partecipated and for sure the song would have been in Italian not in English . Take note that nobody in Italy cared absolutely anything of all the stuff, no media, site or any source else talked about that ( I casually got myself informed of this news just a couple of hours ago and honestly I laughed to tears ) , nothing's changed in here
in our good & wise opinions the ESC is only pathetic rubbish, a low event in which the absence of art music totally dominates and the only taste known is the bad taste . In other words a waste of money that embarrasses.
all italian songs in the esc are very good. they should have won many more times than twice and should have been top 5 most of the time . I miss Italy in the esc. Please come back!!!!!!!

Idee ben accette...
It's such a pity living in Germany and listening to the shit Europe is calling "music" when I'm listening to this video. I do understand why Italy doesn't want to participate anymore.
No vivo en Europa...Why Italy is no longer part of the Eurovision contest?? I do not live in Europe that's why I'm asking for?
@newyork676 excuse me??? Maybe intolerant towards idiots like you.
And homophobic? As far as i know, a gay themed movie, by a gay director came out in theatres like a few months ago...and it turned out to be a huge hit...it was first at the box office...and Alice in wonderland came second...js.
If Italy could get Franco Battiato to write their entries, and Alice to sing them, I would be most grateful. I might even begin to watch the Eurovision Song Contest again after a LONG, crap-music-induced, hiatus. :-)
numb15 : Would you expect English teams tio be banned from the Euro Cups because the Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham drunk animals act as savages attacking women children & olds in downtowns each time they go abroad, not only Italy but the whole Europe ??
Would you expect Italy to act in the same shamefuul retarded , stupid way ag. british workers like instead the brittons have done ag the Italians in Lindsey refinery ??
Because they all learn not take these incidents too personally. Italy should learn not to take a bad result in Eurovision so personally either.
Last year Toto Cutugno expressed sadness at Italys absence from the Eurovision, and Raffaella Carra had some of the 2008 Eurovision singers from other countries on her Carramba show.
Since you have no idea of the subject , don't keep on making a fool of yourself trying to make people believe you're a brit : you're only a funny
Italian troller who has much time to spend posting his rubbish on here and at the end you appear pathetic .
As for all the rest about the awful, rubbished ESC I won't waste my time debating with absolute ignorant chaps who clearly know nothing of the subject like you ,
Would you expect England to act in the same civil way Italy acted 24 years ago towards the whole England , when your so beloved english drunk animals & savages murdered the Juventus fans ( some children among them ) ??
No
would you expect from anyone to debate about the ESC subject knowing it and not by a quick search on junk wikipedia, the most rubbished internet source which has almost nothing true and it's made by personal opinions most from anglosaxon countries ??
numb15 : I think TrulyLoyale is right in calling you an ignorant, ridiculous, internet provoker, a trolling idiot , 'cos I agree with him about you being an Italian provoker.
Get informed that Italy quitted this rubbished & senseless event 'cos they foresaw what was going to happen with the changes forced by the BBC ( actual ESC, a bad, low level, ridiculous & pathetic shit ). So BBC with France, TVE & Germany made their own group and put Italy out of ESC organization.
I don't think UK may judge Italy over music, good attitude ( the British are famous for being rude and for having really bad manners, which is the opposite for Italian people, despite the ridiculous personal opinions of numb15 ), hooligans' violence & arrogance ( the English should shut up forever after the Heysekl tragedy and I don't remembered any Liverpool drunk animal ever jailed for those assassinations ), and many other things .
True facts count , wikipedia's one way false bs don't.
As far as everybody knows, the ones known to be childish & pathetic sore loosers and blind nationalistic poor brains are just the british ( talking not strictly of sports but overall subjects ) .
Italy tolerated too much the arrogance , ignorance & crappy knowledge about music from the UK, scandinavian & northeuropean countries : in my opinion every country is free to get out from the troubles & the rubbish stubbornly caused by other countries' ignorance & incompetence .
And Italy was totally right in getting out from the ESC rubbish .
And that was not due to Enrico Ruggeri and other false nonsenses posted by some british /northeuropean one way nationalistic brains, but it was due to much deeper causes ( we are no England or UK, Italy historically is the homeland of music ) .
Got it numb 15 ? You made a mistake by searching on the wiki's rubbish & false news anglo style ...!
And don't tell lies : Cutugno & Carrà never talked of the ESC, NEVER
yes i must say i agree with you on several occasions, about votings etc...well, a change must be introduced, but then..participation is also needed, as it is interesting to have this diversity.
Would you expect Finland to cut diplomatic relations with Italy because of all the insults it received from Berlusconi? No. Would you expect Germany to cut diplomatic relations with Italy because of the kapo comment from Berlusconi in the EU parliament? No. Would you expect Manchester United to stop playing in Rome despite the fact that the Roman Ultras are always stabbing their fans (even though Italian fans are never harmed in England)? No.
To start with, watch your language, I didnt insult you, so you have no reason to insult me by calling me coglionebut Im not surprised, Italy is famous for being smart and cultured as you said, but not famous for its good manners.
Italy decided to withdraw when Enrico Ruggeri came in a low position in the contest, they could not accept that. That is a display of poor sportsmanship, and RAI acted like a spoilt child, it was an exaggerated reaction!!
Well , as for the " some superb entries from a musical point of view " , honestly only numb15 could see them, 'cos nobody else realized there were.
At the opposite, the ESC is nothing but a ridiculous, pathetic and senseless event in which high quality of songs & music are optionals .
Jade Ewen on last 2009 ESC was a decent song, just a decent song compared to the endless serie of horrible shits the ESC continued to take out like always , that's out of any one-way nationalistic opinion !
The eurovision for the past few years has had some superb entries from a musical point of view (Jade Ewen for UK last night was amazing). Yes, there will always be some bad pop entries, but Italy lacks the sense of humour to take them with a pinch of salt. I hope Italy will participate again at some point.
hey GUYS DO u know why italy doenst get bothered to enter the eurovision contest because ITALINA LANGUAGE AND ITALIAN MUSIC IS A HIGH LANGUAGE FOR SINGING JUST IMMAGINE OPERA WE DO NOT NEED TO ENTER THIS CHEAP CONTEST WHERE PEOPLE JUST GO THERE TO DANCE AND INTRODUE POP MUSIC ITALY IS TOO HIGH TO PARTECIPATE IN THIS KIND OF COMPETITION ALSO WE HAVE SANREMO SUHC A BEAUITFULL CONTEST SINGING COMPETITION NELLA CITTA' DEI FIORI ....
e non hai idea delle cazzate che starnazzi , coglione !!
Italy decided to drop out 'cos of some reasons : 'cos of the overall low level of the ESC, 'cos of a general disagreement with the EBU about how to make & broadcast the event, 'cos of a really low interest inside Italy's people about the ESC, 'cos of the very bad habits from certain countries ( UK & Scandinavia , Finland excluded )
to share each other votes and victories only to nationalistic reasons no matter how bad, crappy & mediocre were their entries, and so on ......
All reasons that have nothing to do with money : RAI is the wealthiest broadcasting corporation of Europe , they have more money of anybody else in Europe, due to Italian government's overbearing continuous control .
And I have to say that I agree totally with my country's decisions to quit the ESC shit .
Italy was smart and capable to foresee what was going to happen to ESC produced , managed & broadcasted by british way with France, Germany & Spain collaboration .
In 1997 those 4 countries decided to exclude Italy from the leading group : looking at all the trash so called songs, bad quality junk music , pathetic shows of the past ESC contests compared to many amazing , superior Sanremos, try to guess 12 years after who was right and those who were 100% wrong and made fools of themselves ! D
And oh yeah, I also got to mention "Non ho l'etá" with Gigliola Cinquetti from 1964, the first one out of Italy's two victories. You can see a clip from it starting at 2:03. It's one of my favorite 1960s entries.
You should have showed which year the songs were from. And maybe you even should have written down the song titles and the performers. Otherwise, this is a terrific video. Italian is such a beautiful language, and Italy should get their butts back into the ESC! I especially love "Gente di mare" from 1987 and "Insieme 1992" from 1990. The ESC never gets better than that!
So why does italy not participate in eurovision on a yearly basis???? Most countries do, I highly doubt there's anything different about them that should make them decide not to participate.
Ridiculous British bs !!! Italy makes masterpieces and superior great music since
over than 300 years and not since only 40 ys and it's the homeland of music, where music was created they way is played ,
Britain is the tasteless rude land where a very few people gained big money by their rubbish and where people's knowledge of music is that one of deanyorks ....!
The only really great British artists ?
The Beatles,
out of them the brit music is a senseless, awful, rude, boring rubbish.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mille Grazie! I literally like'em ALL, especially love 58, 64, 66, 78, 87, 89, 91, 92 and 97. Definitely a class of their own. Just shocking that Domenico Modugno never won. Pepino di Capri gave me the goosebumps and wet eyes; Mia Martini simply blew me away. Italy should just forget about winning and come back and raise the standards on Eurovision, just like Sébastien Tellier did this year. I'm sick and tired of these American Idol rejects from Eastern Europe.
WICH EMBARRASING SONGS BY IRELAND,LATVIA,ESTONIA,SPAIN,ARZEBAIJAN IN ESC 2008 ITALY NOT RETURN FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS!A LOT TIME ITALY MERITED TO WIN BUT STUPID VOTES SYSTEM AND FRINDSHIPS BETWEEN SOME COUNTRIES DIDN T DESERVE ITALY VICTORY!from italy
After that, make an effort and listen to the songs and not just to this posted video jingles before posting your embrassing rubbish . And maybe you'll find that the 1975, 1984 were not exctly ballads in the classic meaning and that out of very few songs, 90 % of all ESC entries till 1997 were all ballads coming from all joining countries, so your pathetic words are senseless and so bizarre !
But most of all, maybe you'' find out that you may note give your vote to Italy this year ( even if possible from australia ) , and you had no chance to do it in the past 2years 'cos "of their great and unusual entries" , for the simple reason that Italy
does not partecipate to rubbished and ridiculous ESC since 1997 !
I know the australians have the pathetic habit not only of talking of all the subjects ( even the ones they are absolute ignorant about ) but also of pretending to teach it ,
but at least you should have taken a fast look before making a fool of yourself once more ! Millions of people ( again check on the web and just get informed ) find the Italian songs at ESC just the opposite of what you ignorantelly say, and other countries' songs simply ridiculous, awful and so boring . I said nothing ag. Sweden in my comments, so I don't know what you're dreaming about : just try to read easy posted words .
I like 4 of the swedish songs, I don't like at all the UK entries which I find to be pathetic,ugly,silly-texted,boring and horribly performed .
Obviously Italy couldn't send each year the best song (it would be impossible to every country ) , but true facts and music experts say they were the leader country as for beautiful songs and averaged quality ( which doesn't mean some crappy songs Italy sended got volved in great songs ).
Everyone has his own taste and may say I like it or I don't ( freedom of speech ) , but changing reality posting totally uncorrect, rubbished and onesided nonsenses like you do is something quite idiotic , as I've already told you .
I know millions of people who got bored much beyond the tears by the UK or the Sweden songs , or even more laughed till the tears for how they were ridiculous and pathetic, so
last word is up to true facts .
Take a look around the web and you'll see by yourself .
Ps : enjoy the so awful and boring nowadays ESC , Charlotte Perelli ,Helena Paparizou and all the ugly and ridiculous globalized rubbish, each song perfectly sounding the same as the other ....
ONE CRAPPY AWFUL SOUND , that's music art !
You're so right and of course Italy must learn music from those countries who are so superior XDDDDD !!!
@Busseto: I have told you several times that the opinion I stated was based on these clips and that it was my FIRST opinion of the songs. And yes, the majority of songs in the past have been ballads, but Italy is one of the countries with the least variety. And I don't think that would change if they were in the contest today. ;) And what are you on about? That quote is not from me. I know Italy is not in ESC now. And I couldn't vote from Australia but I can vote from Sweden where I am now. o.o
You insulted Sweden and now you insulted all Australians. Well done. I do not give a damn what millions of people around the world think. I know that Italian music is world-famous. I have not "ignorantly said" anything. And the rubbish you just posted about how people view Sweden's and the UK's entries I could say exactly the same thing about Italy's entries. You state that everyone has different tastes but you don't follow it.
Sweden has one of the best track records ever in doing well at ESC. They've won 4 times and very rarely scored below top10 or top15. But does this mean that Sweden sends the absolutely best music in the competition? NO, some people still dislike Sweden's music - even though it's popular. Sweden has huge music exports and don't need ESC either. Who are you to say what is good music? Friggen hell, taste is relative. Repeat it to yourself some more times.
Pop is one sound the way ballads are one sound. Don't kid yourself. All pop songs do not sound the same. Just because a song is uptempo doesn't make it inferior. I have not set that Italy should "learn music" from other countries. And I have NOT said that this music is superior to ballads, That's you speaking and your elitism regarding Italian music. I LOVE music. All kinds of music. And I am not stuck in a box like you are.
Ps Can anybody expalin to me what the words " Italy, like France, are huge ballad nation " ??
As said , with all respect for France, Italy in music art is not comparable to France in any way, but I'd like to know what in the world those words posted by IQ mieroth mean ......
It means exactly what it says. Both italy and France are big on sending ballads to ESC. Something which has been boring ESC fans to tears (especially when it comes to France) each year. If you send a powerful ballad, fine. But when you send a ballad just for the sake of sending one I don't see the point. But they've had great and unusual entries for the past 2 years. I'll be voting for them this year. :) LOL, because Italian music is superior to all. Of course. ;)
I don't know where are you from and I don't really care 'cos I think ignorance & rudiness
have no geographical borders and you for sure ,along with your idiotic & ridiculous comments , are the best proof of that .
I only look at your embarassing and childish ignorance of music matter through the nonsenses you keep on posting, so ITALY is the one who are glad to stay out from a pathetich and junked event like ESC to which may take part & ruin music art arrogant donkeys like you.
No matter Italy is a founder of Eurovision and was the country who created the ESC
( again get informed since you look to be an absolute ignorant of music ) , it's thanks to ignorant & childish fellows like you that ESC has become the ridiculous ,ugly and boring stuff ( talking of boring things ) nowadays is .
But I won't waste my time anymore replying to a rude and illiterate little brain who types just to move his fingers.
Arrogant? ME? Look at your own posts please. I'm half Swedish and half Australian. But I don't go on about Sweden like you do about Italy. Song contests are huge in Sweden too, and would go on without ESC. Sweden also has a long tradition in music, although it's a different sort of music which I'm sure you wouldn't approve of. But I see it as just one ESC country among many, and not as the centre of all things musical that should win every year. Which appears to be your view of Italy.
That is called elitism. I know that Italy is a founder of Eurovision - but how should that allow you favouritsm? If you can't handle a negative opinion of Italy there's nothing I can do to help you. :/
Italian an french songs are romantical traditions ! not international hits copies ! your opinion is stupid and italian singers are famous all around the world without ESC they don't need !
There is one solution : you must stop your stupid comments about italian and french songs ! i remeber you that France and Italy won more esc than Sweden ! Exept Abba, swidish victories are shit !
Lol. I have not many any stupid comments about French or Italian songs. I've just stated that neither country has much variety in what they send to ESC. France is slowly changing now though and they have a GREAT entry this year. I also loved their entry last year. &hearts And that's very nice of you to say, but I believe the majority in Europe would disagree with you. Although I would have preferred it if Sweden won with Den Vilda &hearts instead of Fångad av en stormvind (which I do not like).
DOES ANYBODY KNOW A SWIDISH SONG IN THE WORLD? I DON4T THINK BECAUSE NOBODY LIKE YOUR AWFULL LANGUAGE ! BUT FRENCH AND ITALIAN SOUND VERY NICE ! GO LISTEN TO EDITH PIAFF EROS RAMAZZOTTI LAURA PAUSINI LUCIANO PAVAROTTI etc....
Maybe that's due to your very little music knowledge or you just don't have something called musical ear , mieroth !
Italy has an historical heritage in musics ( songs comprehensive ) that countries like France and even UK may only dream about .
There's only one country whose songs and musics stand out the ugly mist of ESC, and that one is Italy with no doubt, to the ones who really know music and can properly judge it .
Awful music, silly-texted and ridiculous songs, pathetic singers whose only ability is dancing on stage along with some nice-legged female dancers, each junk entry just alike the other, always the same globalized rubbish anglosaxon style ( the worst kind of rubbish ,let me say that ), always the same senseless, horrible stuff .
Till 1997 , last year Italy partecipated to this bad event 'cos thanks God we were the first and most intelligent in quitting , Italy's songs were exactly the opposite
Yikes, if you represent the views of most Italians I'm more than happy for you to stay out of ESC. This elitist attitude won't do. ESC is supposed to be about fun and bonding through one thing all people have in common - love of music. And like I said earlier, my opinion of the songs would probably change if I heard them more than once. Albania's entry this year would also be quite forgettable after the first listen, but I find it to be a gorgeous song!
My complaint is that Italy has had no variety of songs throughout the years. And I find that quite boring. Maybe you're one of the people who believes ballads are superior to all other types of music? If that's the case there isn't much more for me to say. I can't argue against such idiocy. Although I am somewhat amused that you cannot handle someone's opinion when it contradicts your own.
Italian an french songs are romantical traditions ! not international hits copies ! your opinion is stupid and italian singers are famous all around the world without ESC they don't need !
Italian an french songs are romantical traditions ! not international hits copies ! your opinion is stupid and italian singers are famous all around the world without ESC they don't need !
Italy, like France, is a huge ballad nation it seems. Now, I just listened to these songs for the first time now. 3 stood out. Volare, the unite Europe song, and one with a girl singing in a soft voice. I remember how these songs sound. All the others sounded the same to me. And that's quite amazing, and not in a good way. Of course if you know the songs this won't be the case, but as a first impression most sound the same to me. o.O
Bud mieroth I don't think someone who likes the Charlotte Perelli songs' awful sound and makes an ESC 2008 Top 10 classification , which is nothing else than making a classification of best rubbish , will get all that .
And unfortunately for music art there are millions of people who have your same knowledge and skills about it , which is
the main reason , even though not the only one , of why Italy leaved all the rubbish you like so much foreseeing what was going to happen .
Italian an french songs are romantical traditions ! not international hits copies ! your opinion is stupid and italian singers are famous all around the world without ESC they don't need !
I think by "a girl singing in a soft voice", you mean Gigliola Cinquetti, who won for Italy in 1964 (the first of their only two victories). Am I right?
It seems like you missed the beautiful "Gente di mare" from 1987. The clip in this video doesn't do this powerful song justice, but it came 3rd, even though it should have won.
"I treni di Tozeur" from 1984 and "Fiumi di parole" from 1997 aren't exactly ballads either. And surely, the Bee Gees copy from 1980 has to stand out too.
Yeah, one of my favourite ESC entries of all times. I'm also a big fan of Rapsodia and Insieme... but to me many other songs seem too bland. Apparently Italians are extremely offended by this viewpoint. But hey, that's their problem, not mine. =) But sure, you do have to listen to the full clips to make a proper judgement, and that I have not done for many entries. And I've said that this might have an affect on my judgement. =)

The problem is that Italian Tv don't want to be encloyed in the EBU...and I think it's a shame!
And lots of people don't know the existence of ESC..It's a shame!!! Poor italy where will you arrive??

numb15 : Would you expect English teams tio be banned from the Euro Cups because the Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham drunk animals act as savages attacking women children & olds in downtowns each time they go abroad, not only Italy but the whole Europe ??
Would you expect Italy to act in the same shamefuul retarded , stupid way ag. british workers like instead the brittons have done ag the Italians in Lindsey refinery ??
Busseto 2 years ago
Because they all learn not take these incidents too personally. Italy should learn not to take a bad result in Eurovision so personally either.
Last year Toto Cutugno expressed sadness at Italys absence from the Eurovision, and Raffaella Carra had some of the 2008 Eurovision singers from other countries on her Carramba show.

Busseto 2 years ago
numb15 : I think TrulyLoyale is right in calling you an ignorant, ridiculous, internet provoker, a trolling idiot , 'cos I agree with him about you being an Italian provoker.
Busseto 2 years ago 3
Everybody can realize who was right and who made a fool of himself by looking at last 10 years ESC ....!
Italy was robbed at least 4/5 of a deserved victory, due to northeuropean, scandinavian & british nationalistic envy
& childish attitude in sharing votes each other, in order to share victory year after year .
I don't think that such a cheating, stupid &
idiotic behave & attitude may be called fair or sportman, anyway Italy showed a much better and more mature attitude and behave .
Busseto 2 years ago 4
I don't think UK may judge Italy over music, good attitude ( the British are famous for being rude and for having really bad manners, which is the opposite for Italian people, despite the ridiculous personal opinions of numb15 ), hooligans' violence & arrogance ( the English should shut up forever after the Heysekl tragedy and I don't remembered any Liverpool drunk animal ever jailed for those assassinations ), and many other things .
True facts count , wikipedia's one way false bs don't.
Busseto 2 years ago 3
As far as everybody knows, the ones known to be childish & pathetic sore loosers and blind nationalistic poor brains are just the british ( talking not strictly of sports but overall subjects ) .
Italy tolerated too much the arrogance , ignorance & crappy knowledge about music from the UK, scandinavian & northeuropean countries : in my opinion every country is free to get out from the troubles & the rubbish stubbornly caused by other countries' ignorance & incompetence .
Busseto 2 years ago 4
And Italy was totally right in getting out from the ESC rubbish .
And that was not due to Enrico Ruggeri and other false nonsenses posted by some british /northeuropean one way nationalistic brains, but it was due to much deeper causes ( we are no England or UK, Italy historically is the homeland of music ) .
Got it numb 15 ? You made a mistake by searching on the wiki's rubbish & false news anglo style ...!
And don't tell lies : Cutugno & Carrà never talked of the ESC, NEVER

Trulyloyale 2 years ago 2
To start with, watch your language, I didnt insult you, so you have no reason to insult me by calling me coglionebut Im not surprised, Italy is famous for being smart and cultured as you said, but not famous for its good manners.
Italy decided to withdraw when Enrico Ruggeri came in a low position in the contest, they could not accept that. That is a display of poor sportsmanship, and RAI acted like a spoilt child, it was an exaggerated reaction!!
numb15 2 years ago
Well , as for the " some superb entries from a musical point of view " , honestly only numb15 could see them, 'cos nobody else realized there were.
At the opposite, the ESC is nothing but a ridiculous, pathetic and senseless event in which high quality of songs & music are optionals .
Jade Ewen on last 2009 ESC was a decent song, just a decent song compared to the endless serie of horrible shits the ESC continued to take out like always , that's out of any one-way nationalistic opinion !
Trulyloyale 2 years ago
The 2 real reason why Italy has not partecipated to the Eurovision (since 1997) are:
the main italian tv channel (RAI) thinks that Italians maybe not be interested enough to watch it on tv;
or
(and this is really sad)
that Italy cannot afford to host the event in case they won!
can you believe it??
i'm italian but in case like this i feel bad about it!
lorenzofeehily 2 years ago
The eurovision for the past few years has had some superb entries from a musical point of view (Jade Ewen for UK last night was amazing). Yes, there will always be some bad pop entries, but Italy lacks the sense of humour to take them with a pinch of salt. I hope Italy will participate again at some point.

Stai muto se non sai un cacchio di niente

Italy decided to drop out 'cos of some reasons : 'cos of the overall low level of the ESC, 'cos of a general disagreement with the EBU about how to make & broadcast the event, 'cos of a really low interest inside Italy's people about the ESC, 'cos of the very bad habits from certain countries ( UK & Scandinavia , Finland excluded )
Trulyloyale 2 years ago
to share each other votes and victories only to nationalistic reasons no matter how bad, crappy & mediocre were their entries, and so on ......
All reasons that have nothing to do with money : RAI is the wealthiest broadcasting corporation of Europe , they have more money of anybody else in Europe, due to Italian government's overbearing continuous control .
And I have to say that I agree totally with my country's decisions to quit the ESC shit .
Trulyloyale 2 years ago 4
Italy was smart and capable to foresee what was going to happen to ESC produced , managed & broadcasted by british way with France, Germany & Spain collaboration .
In 1997 those 4 countries decided to exclude Italy from the leading group : looking at all the trash so called songs, bad quality junk music , pathetic shows of the past ESC contests compared to many amazing , superior Sanremos, try to guess 12 years after who was right and those who were 100% wrong and made fools of themselves ! And oh yeah, I also got to mention "Non ho l'etá" with Gigliola Cinquetti from 1964, the first one out of Italy's two victories. You can see a clip from it starting at 2:03. It's one of my favorite 1960s entries.
Furienna 3 years ago
You should have showed which year the songs were from. And maybe you even should have written down the song titles and the performers. Otherwise, this is a terrific video. Italian is such a beautiful language, and Italy should get their butts back into the ESC! I especially love "Gente di mare" from 1987 and "Insieme 1992" from 1990. Italy should just forget about winning and come back and raise the standards on Eurovision, just like Sébastien Tellier did this year.
Busseto 3 years ago
But most of all, maybe you'' find out that you may note give your vote to Italy this year ( even if possible from australia ) , and you had no chance to do it in the past 2years 'cos "of their great and unusual entries" , for the simple reason that Italy
does not partecipate to rubbished and ridiculous ESC since 1997 !
I know the australians have the pathetic habit not only of talking of all the subjects ( even the ones they are absolute ignorant about ) but also of pretending to teach it ,
Busseto 3 years ago
but at least you should have taken a fast look before making a fool of yourself once more !
Busseto 3 years ago
I like 4 of the swedish songs, I don't like at all the UK entries which I find to be pathetic,ugly,silly-texted,boring and horribly performed .
Obviously Italy couldn't send each year the best song (it would be impossible to every country ) , but true facts and music experts say they were the leader country as for beautiful songs and averaged quality ( which doesn't mean some crappy songs Italy sended got volved in great songs ).
Busseto 3 years ago
Everyone has his own taste and may say I like it or I don't ( freedom of speech ) , but changing reality posting totally uncorrect, rubbished and onesided nonsenses like you do is something quite idiotic , as I've already told you .

Busseto 3 years ago
@Busseto: I have told you several times that the opinion I stated was based on these clips and that it was my FIRST opinion of the songs. And yes, the majority of songs in the past have been ballads, but Italy is one of the countries with the least variety. And I don't think that would change if they were in the contest today. ;) And what are you on about? That quote is not from me. I know Italy is not in ESC now. And I couldn't vote from Australia but I can vote from Sweden where I am now. o.o
mieroth 3 years ago
You insulted Sweden and now you insulted all Australians. Well done. I do not give a damn what millions of people around the world think. I know that Italian music is world-famous. I have not "ignorantly said" anything. And the rubbish you just posted about how people view Sweden's and the UK's entries I could say exactly the same thing about Italy's entries. You state that everyone has different tastes but you don't follow it.
mieroth 3 years ago
Sweden has one of the best track records ever in doing well at ESC. They've won 4 times and very rarely scored below top10 or top15. But does this mean that Sweden sends the absolutely best music in the competition? NO, some people still dislike Sweden's music - even though it's popular. Sweden has huge music exports and don't need ESC either. Who are you to say what is good music? Friggen hell, taste is relative. Repeat it to yourself some more times.
mieroth 3 years ago
Pop is one sound the way ballads are one sound. Don't kid yourself. All pop songs do not sound the same. Just because a song is uptempo doesn't make it inferior. I have not set that Italy should "learn music" from other countries. And I have NOT said that this music is superior to ballads, That's you speaking and your elitism regarding Italian music. I LOVE music. All kinds of music. And I am not stuck in a box like you are.
mieroth 3 years ago
Ps Can anybody expalin to me what the words " Italy, like France, are huge ballad nation " ??

Busseto 3 years ago
It means exactly what it says. Both italy and France are big on sending ballads to ESC. Something which has been boring ESC fans to tears (especially when it comes to France) each year. If you send a powerful ballad, fine. But when you send a ballad just for the sake of sending one I don't see the point. But they've had great and unusual entries for the past 2 years. I'll be voting for them this year. :) LOL, because Italian music is superior to all. Of course. ;)

Arrogant?

Busseto 3 years ago
Yikes, if you represent the views of most Italians I'm more than happy for you to stay out of ESC. This elitist attitude won't do. ESC is supposed to be about fun and bonding through one thing all people have in common - love of music. And like I said earlier, my opinion of the songs would probably change if I heard them more than once. Albania's entry this year would also be quite forgettable after the first listen, but I find it to be a gorgeous song!
mieroth 3 years ago
My complaint is that Italy has had no variety of songs throughout the years. And I find that quite boring. Maybe you're one of the people who believes ballads are superior to all other types of music? If that's the case there isn't much more for me to say. I can't argue against such idiocy. Although I am somewhat amused that you cannot handle someone's opinion when it contradicts your own.
