I am a REAL pacific islander from the region of Micronesia. @heavydutytech I still think it's okay because our culture is not dead, It's just in pieces. Ashamed being called Filipino? then call yourself a Pacific Islander lol

@heavydutytech Funny, we're still slaves. According to others. I'm proud calling myself Filipino/Pilipino. Filipino means slave to dead king Philip of Spain. & guess what? I am free & not committed to any Spanish Philip out there. Not to mention, the deeds of my Filipino forefathers who have made sacrifices so that I may enjoy who I am today. What an irony! & you are free to use those ugly names lol
@PayMoneyToMyPain92 ugly names?the way you think, youre one of those who still claim they have spanish blood, colonial mentality who racially segragated my ancestors during that era. proud being filipino!,maybe you should ask why the chinese and japanese or any asian countries are respected of their heritage thats because they still value their identity, their language and culture.Stop hiding your true identity your ancestors....
@heavydutytech have flat nose, small ,brown/dark skin, who speak multiple dialects who has a unique culture on its own and thats something to be proud of !!
@heavydutytech Yes, the 2 names are ugly. That's my opinion. Luzonian or Luzunian? Should I ask them? I have Chinese descent lol The culture is mixed with Spanish & other Asian cultures. The unique culture of the "Philippines". True identity? Yes, I'm open-minded. You don't need to tell me about the diff. Filipino dialects & etc.
@PayMoneyToMyPain92 wow typical filipinos who always claim they have have spanish chinese descent....but in reality they look like as dark as aeta...LMAO keep on dreaming you wannabe ...its an insecurity !!!
Before Spaniard colonized the Philippines, Luzon is one of the dynasty in Asia. By that i meant, Philippines is the center of Asian countries such as China,Japan,Korea and Thailand. This is before the South East Asia exist. The history of Luzon is written all over East Asia but Filipino failed to acquired such information because they can only read English.
I ask my mother if we are pacific islandesr, she didnt know what the fuck i was saying. I ask her if we were like polynesians and she said a little bit.
I am refering to Filipinos using "I'm Filipino, Spanish, Chinese" hahaha...better read the history of Filipino people. I guess not all Filipinos don't know much the Racial Caste system exist during the Spanish Colonial era. The Indio intermarried w/ the Negritos & The converted Chinese Merchant that embraced the Catholicsm & were Hispanized that they mix with the Indio that's why Mestizo de Sangley term was born they intermarried to the Mestizo de Espanol or Blanco to have tornatras..
@impinai79 The FILIPINO government recognizes many ethnic groups within the Philippines. This is not an issue amongst Filipinos from the Philippines. The identity crisis comes mostly from Fil-Ams, especially the ones who discriminate against Filipinos. This is a fact. They are the same ones who preach the fake Filipino Pride and get offended by the term "Asian" which as you stated is simply a geographical label.
people should understand how to use the word FILIPINO. specially for those people saying they were Filipino, Spanish, Chinese etc because Spaniards were the one who gave that term Filipinos (pure spanish descent born in Philippines) & the mestizo de sangley (chinese/indio or malay mix), mestizo de espanol (spanish/indio or malay mix), negritos (aeta/agta etc), indio (malay/austronesian) were mixing before the colonial racial caste system before. some were migration due to colonization ...
"Filipinos" in the way the word is used today, did not officially exist until the 20th century.
This adds a lot of miseducation to Filipinos and to people all around the world because it leads people to believe. Original Filipinos are pure spanish descent BORN in the Philippines. They are the Filipinos, but today the meaning of Filipinos is a mixture of different ancestry.
Filipinos is composed of different races or ethnic/ancestry background: Negritos, Austronesian/Malay, Arab, Spanish,Indian, Mexican, Chinese, American, other european & asian settlers. These people mix together & came out to be Filipino. So don't be confused of who you are and what we are. Be proud of yourself !
@impinai79 Lets look at the term Asian...Asian is someone of Asian decent. The Philippines are considered Asian. Therefore, if you are Filipino, you are Asian. Is it a race? No. But fact remains, Filipinos are Asian.
@shanal1510 Yes this is true, however a growing number of Fil-Ams for whatever reason get butt-hurt over the label of Asian when terms like Pacific Islanders can refer to other SE Asians as well. The real issue has always been Fil-Am identity crisis.
@shanal1510 Well because Philippines is located in Asia. Yes, we are asian because it's just a geographical term not race or ethnicity. Filipino is just a nationality because anyone can be a Filipino citizen now. a lot with foreign ancestry were granted a Filipino nationality or a Philippine passport same with the other countries.
Asian - Geographical term only for those inhabitants of Asia (Asian can be mixed of different ancestry or ethnic background) it's not a race.
Pacific Islander - No, The link that links to us is our Austronesian Heritage (Culture, Language and some ethnic including Malaysian, Indonesian, Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia)
Hispanic - is also a culture definition that links to Spain.
Latino - are refered to people that speak a latin language
@impinai79 LOL most Fil-Ams use the excuse that Filipinos are Pacific Islanders simply because of "islands in the Pacific Ocean". Austronesian started as a language family and there are plenty of Austronesians found throughout SE Asia. However, why is it that IT's MOSTLY FIl-AMs who are offended by the term "Asian" yet Filipinos from the Philippines have no problem with the term "Asian". That's a fact.
@impinai79 "Latino - are refered to people that speak a latin language"
Philippines aren't Latino. Someone can argue Hispanic, but even the Tagalog which has Spanish words, is not exclusively Latin. Otherwise that's likes saying Vietnamese are also Latino.
@ImSoPinoyPride spanish loanwords were just adopted due to the result of colonization. chavacano is not a fully spanish but a spanish creole. a lot of mexican words were adopted as well specially from the nahuatl and aztec as some of these people intermarried to the local residents of the Philippines during the galleon. What i understand with the word Latino were inhabitants of the countries that speak latin language specially the European Roman Languages.
@impinai79 Chavacno isn't even an official language nor is it spoken by the majority of Filipinos. That's like me trying to argue that there's a small population of Chinese speaking in Puerto Rico, therefore Puerto Ricans are also Oriental. The official languages are English and Filipino (based off Tagalog). Filipinos are not Latino, just because some words are borrowed doesn't mean much. AGAIN, Vietnam has a Latin-based system, are u going to call them Latinos? i didn't think so.
@BoriquenBeast Tagalog and the official languages of Indonesia and Malaysia was a Latin Script what I was saying a countries that speak the roman languages were the Latinos & I never heard vietnamese speaking a roman language. I know vietnames language belong to Austro-Asiatic and I just want to clear that I didn't say Filipinos are Latino because we are not as majority of us don't speak spanish and it's not an official.
@impinai79 Indonesia and Malaysia belongs to same language family as well and some indigenous of Vietnam too.. those group of people that speak Austronesian. Now the question is how these languages evolved & developed? does it also had some connection to their ethnic background?
@impinai79 Sorry I misunderstood. I thought you said Filipinos are Latino, which I disagree. They do have Hispanic influence, just like other Asian countries have influence in their culture due to colonizations but aren't exclusively that.
Have you seen the video "Nonito Donaire answers questions about Manny Pacquiao". He mentions how people didn't give him a chance at first and said "You're not Mexican. You're not Latino".
@BoriquenBeast Latino is more related to a Roman language & Spanish is a roman language that belongs to a Latin Language an Indo-European. Same goes with Austronesian people. Ex. Tagalog, Kapampangan, Visayas, Pangasinense is a
Malayo-Polynesian language that a sub-group of Austronesian.
@BoriquenBeast you can type on youtube search a video of Austronesian people that speak the same language family. You may search videos to see the language, culture and face of these people to understand why these people were sharing the language? how these linguistic developed? Austro-Asiatic and Austronesian is 2 different language family in South East Asia.
@BoriquenBeast Most of the Philippine dialects came from Austronesian family. Which is similar with the Indigenous people of Samoan, Madagascar, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia, Taiwan, Maori of New Zealand.
@impinai79 The Filipinos who speak Chavacano could probably be referred to as a Hispanic or Latino. However, generally, the Filipinos are not Latinos. Also, just like the term "Asian", it is socially constructed. In the U.S., Latino refers to people from Latin America and Spanish speaking countries. Filipinos and the Philippines do not fall under that category. Just because people in Singapore speak English does not make them Latin or European either.
And back to my previous comment, why the fuck do you assume Fil-ams are offended by being called Asian? We know we are fucking Asian. You assume ALL of us are fucked up in the head. Hell no.
@enjoisk8er95 Sorry but Fil-ams do get offended by being called Asian. I know because I know A LOT of Fil-ams that do. Im not a Filipino myself, Im actually Polynesian, but I have Filipino friends and I have to educate all my Filipino friends that they are Asian.
@shanal1510 I partly agree with you on that. Because there are some cocky Filipinos, this is referring to us in general both Fil and Fil-am. They believe that they are not Asian , but Filipino. There is nothing wrong with that, its just that hey have too much pride, and cause of that I knowtons of people dislike Filipinos because they "think" they are superior.Long story short they say this:"Filipino >Asian."
All Im doing isstopping the hate on fil ams. Except for the dickhead ones.
I'm partly both. Born in PI, raised in Cali. But honestly the "FOBs" in the video should stop being cocky saying, not knowing Tagalog makes you not Filipino. Shit gets sooo annoying.
@YBlnx Its not us that's instigating the argument. You're obviously ignorant to the fact that we are Filipino too! And how has living in America makes us ugly. Give me a good fucking example, cause your argument is obviously invalid. And the correct definition for Fil-am is someone who is half white or black and half Filipinos. now its all jacked up.
@YBlnx Im not Filipino, but I know A LOT of Filipinos that were born and grew up in the US are really hot! Well the Filipino girls are hot anyways. Maybe you are referring to the Filipino men LOL
@shanal1510 and you know whats so funny is that their calling their own people a fobs, and their reason, is they supposed to speak english fluently since they learned english in the philippines! how stupid is that! and i do agree that these shit heads are getting offended being called ASIANS. what is wrong with being asians? asian people are beautiful compare to pacific islanders.
@YBlnx Now I wont go that far buddy. Aint nothing like the Polynesian people...wait Im sorry there are some big azz Polynesian women Haha But...we do have our pearls of the Pacific...and it's beauty is unmatched...and thats the truth Love me some Filipino ladyz though LOL
