I don't mean to sound bad, but George just left the Beatles, probably collected in excess of 50 million dollars....so it probably would have been better if he just donated a few million dollars from his own pocket than this concert
I am sorry to say Bangladesh is still to find her freedom from our nasty political environment....today our police killed 4 man....your dream is not fulfilled yet...............But salute to you...
@ Guido8943 brother if u bought 2 tickets for this concert den that means u have donated some money for my country when we were into some serious trouble.and for that i thank you from the bottom of my heart! and i don't have any words to describe or praise George Harrison's contribution when we needed it the most! i only pray that wherever he is now, he is in peace and i convey every single Bangladeshis love to his departed soul!
As a NYer who grew up with and loved all the Beatles, I bought 2 tickets at the Garden for a concert named "George Harrison and friends, benefit concert for Bangladesh" Who knew it would become, what it did for the history of benefit concerts and who he got to perform for a night I will never ever forget. I wished I would have saved the tickets and never let the usher tear them in half. I really miss George Harrison.
Patty all those people of the Concert and those who had helped that time take my cordial thanks .... For your help and the freedom fighter of our country I can say I am a Bangladeshi. I have borne in 1986 after the liberation. For the sacrifice of yours we have got the country....
I was 10 and my sister and her boyfriend went to this concert. My MOTHER and my sister and older brother saw the Beatles at Shea and the Monkees at Forest Hills.. I remembering crying out the window, and then the 1972 Stones Concert came around. My turn. My mom let me go: I rode my bike home with my little sister, past Belmont Race track...and caught the train. The rest is history.....
Thank you George Harrison. We will never forget you as you are our friend. It was a sudden attack and we didn't know what to do. You went all the way to Madison square garden, NYC, USA and asked people to lend their hand to relieve Bangladesh. Your sweet voice and sweet guitar we love. And love always. We adore you-you will be in the heart, mind, and soul of people of Bangladesh forever. We love you. May God provide you a place in laudable station. God bless you.
I was in high school when this concert took place. I saw the movie at that time. The Song for Bangladesh and My Sweet Lord changed me. George Harrison did, and I began a spiritual life, trying to find that core of universal love that George and others espoused.
As of this moment, I (being a bangladeshi) am STANDING in front of my computer, looking at the screen and saluting another one of our freedom fighters. Thank you George Harrison! bangladesh is forever indebted to you! may you rest in peace!
@Al3zza hmm... pretty offensive and very funny@ the same time(: because there are scums in every nation!
and You should know that these people from Bangladesh are actually called Bangladeshis not Bangalis LOL
Well, I guess then I should let you know that I found a very amazing Bangladeshi American friend among those scums and she is the happiness of my life(:
Don't judge the entire nation on the basis of a few groups of people. Remember there is always good in every soul! Be kind to one another!
Now it's time to arrange another concert to save the Country. And PM will show belly dance and butt and all the member of the board will push from back. Caz we have not enough money to arrange a concert. We loss all our money in share mkt, living cost is so high- no saving and many more........
George Harrison was a devoted truth seeker who spread the truth that he found through is music and lyrics. If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google, click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. I think George would have loved this.
I saw the film in my hometown theater shortly after its release. I loved everything about it except for Ravi Shankar. He was a little over my 16 year head at the time.
The sad part was, they raised millions for the poor people of Banglladesh and they didn't see any of it for 9 freaking years, how many passed because of this. this was govermental orchestrated. damn the establishment.
I remember playing this album, and going to the movie at the 'drive in', and now I can see (as I couldn't as a dumb 16 yr old kid) how much George really meant it. May he rest in peace and he knew there was much more beyond that which we have the ability to see and understand on the mortal path. Damn cigarettes killed too, too many people.

@Rush1013 Yeah, you're right. I didn't mean that he would have wanted to be deified or anything. I just meant that Band Aid, as laudable as it was, seems to be thought of as the first of it's kind. That said, it kind of sums up George and the whole understated way he lived his life. Hare Krishna.

@patrick45sue still makes me cry we at least were socially aware and givers and now there will be nothing for us of all of the weirdness that happens when we retire, money or medical, soon as I can't pay for my oxygen I'm a goner. Love you George Blessings.
40 years.....seems like yesterday,a hot muggy Sunday , 10 dollars to my name, walking the streets of New York, the Hookers the Moonies, the Hari Krishnas, I was lucky I still had enough money left to take a bus home. I think the ticket for the afternoon concert was a whopping $7.50 .... Bought a pack of smokes with the other 50 cents......those were the days my fiend.
@Beatlejoose56 Lucky you concert tickets for today so called "artists" are 75-100 dollars! i would kill to be at this concert. I have been robbed and cut short of anything good( im 15) its like 10.00 to go see a movie!
ringo dandose en la bateria con el otro pata y geroge harrison tocando la cancion con guitarra en mano y sentimiento puesto jja me daba risa ringo jajajajaj
I´m from Finland but i know we have Bangladeshian workers, students and some immigrants here too and most of them are good immigrants (no make harm to Finnish people like some Africans and Arabs does.). they are hard workers too. I found that song to find info of our national singer Danny who sung and translated that charity song in Finnish too but its not in here youtube... Any way Good job George! and God bles Bangladesh to get out of corruption and poverty and help make them peaceful place.
When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again, and all the uninspired crap that people call "music" these days will fade away and be forgotten. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.
I was twelve, but we had a pirate-radio on the sea, Radio Veronica, and the did send it out a few days later. I know from my brother and parents is was uniek. Then my parents started to respect pop-music.
Great wat George did for humananity, pitty that john and paul where not there, but still.......... George !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there. At the afternoon show. I am sure the made the movie from both the afternoon gig and evening gig. I remember getting a hotdog during Ravi Shanker.
When Harrison came out, he got a standing ovation like maybe 2 or 5 minutes. I don't remember but it was longer than any ovation I have ever seen. Clapton was there. Dylan was a big part of the show.
Just think...Paul and John were both asked to be a part of this. John wouldn't perform without Yoko, as George had requested. Paul would only do it if the partner ship was dissolved immediately. Too bad. Still it was the first and remains the best charity concert event.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TERRORIST COUNTRY. There are people who are. There are countries that have terrorist in them. In which case, we are a terrorist nation. I'm not one. Are any of you? How about George W. Bush, Barack H. Obama, Richard Cheney or Donald "Rumpfill" Rumsfeld? And oh, by the way, "terrorism" is just another form of warfare. Like "Black Ops" & other stuff that "we" do. does that make me a terrorist? Fuck No. In any case, just enjoy the music.
You're rihgt, that's why we, the common people who make the money, have to stand up against the banks and extreem pollitisians. I think the democrats in the US are not oké, but the best out of a bad choise !
MR LEON RUSSELL ON KEYBOARDS AND MR CLAPTON ON THE LEAD GUITAR FOR A CONCERT THAT SHOWED TO THE WORLD ALL THE MISERY IN THIS POOR COUNTRY FOR THE FIRST TIME
This is brilliant and beautiful song. This concert and "cause" were even more so. Before Sir Bob Geldof, "We Are The World' or any of the others, this is it.
i'm getting goosebumps cause, The George Harrison sang this song...with respect for my country..to save my country....... love u george harrison... :'( R.I.P
@911waba God love your country. I was living in a 'first world' country when this happened. Only became aware because it's been 40 years. The music is amazing - especially Ravi and his friends. I'm old but even my son loves it. Slainte :-)
He's just upset his country signed to the largest surrender since WWII at the hands of India, with 90000 captured, and losing half its territory and population, plus a third of its army and economy,
as a just reward to its neglect and persecution of Bangladesh.
hey judecreek 2 kevin here sorry i havent replyed lately, last monday what a celebration beer and the bubbly was running like water if you know what i mean. usa usa usa. george is god next to john.
Bin Laden y Al-Qaida. Es un invento de EE.UU. Con esto generan odio hacia los musulmanes y justifican todas las guerras a los pueblos arabes. Lo sabe todo el mundo menos ustedes los mismos estado unidenses. Ignorantes
The Beatles were a force of Nature. They showed us that with enough love, you can do just about anything. There are hidden messages and meanings in many of their songs. To find out what they are, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read the section about The Beatles.
I am a student of Bangladesh and I can't express my feelings towards George in any other way but with just a few drops of tears and appreciation. On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, we thank you and send you love and blessings from our hearts and prayers.
Bangladesh is one of the best country in this world.......all the talented people lives in the Bangladesh...............but bangladesh cannt show to the world cause of poverty........
hey jude creek u are talking to a ex jr rotc marine core mother fucker, bin laden is dead like the mets bullpen. dont u ever disrespect the usa. i will turn 40 on monday may 9 may the seventies live on,my name is kevin j mitro and lets chant usa usa usa . george is god.
@rocky1976ize Maybe you should re-read my reply to that moron. I said "if he really thinks..." I don't doubt for one second that Osama Bin Asshole is dead. And it's about damn time. I lost three friends on September 11. Thank you for your service, Kevin. USA USA USA. Happy Birthday!
@paulalex511 Thank you for your kind words. It's strange, but the events of this last week opened all kinds of wounds, pain and memories. In a way, I guess that's the way it should be. Maybe now all the victims can finally truly rest in peace.
@judecreek2 Laden also help boosting up moral for terrorists in Bangladesh. So, since he is dead. They have lost an "icon"(as they say). They will eventually lose in the long-run. Al-qaida and other jihadist elements will fall because of "leader-ship struggle".
I don't mean to sound bad, but George just left the Beatles, probably collected in excess of 50 million dollars....so it probably would have been better if he just donated a few million dollars from his own pocket than this concert

Lol at the Pakistani attacking Bangladesh.
He's just upset his country signed to the largest surrender since WWII at the hands of India, with 90000 captured, and losing half its territory and population, plus a third of its army and economy,
as a just reward to its neglect and persecution of Bangladesh.

The Beatles were a force of Nature. They showed us that with enough love, you can do just about anything. There are hidden messages and meanings in many of their songs. To find out what they are, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read the section about The Beatles.
