Have you tried doing a bit of compression and EQing after recording? SoundSoap can also help get rid of noise. Though the only solution here may be to move closer to the microphone. Or, get an external sound recorder, place it closer to the performance, and sync that to the camera image. I use the Zoom H4, recording at 48kHz 16-bit in WAV format, to beef up the recorded sound, in addition to an on-camera mike.

Don't take it down. That's bloody brilliant. That's one of my favorite songs... and I hate the people who try to cover it like Limp Bizkit and not G.M. so this was quite refreshing. Great voice.
