@sonofwind34 - Hi, No, No reverse gear. I will turn on the spot though if you get full lock andput your foot on the floor. It will just do a doughnut!
This is my favorite youtube piranha video. I am building on with a zx-7r and watching this always motivates me to get back to work on it. man that thing hauls ass.
I only took it to about 70mph in the small field (with not much braking ability). If I had it on a larger field I think it would get to at least 100-120mph if the rear wheels would still grip against the wind resistance. I wouldn't trust it much past 80mph though. I had a weld break and a front wheel fall off at 50mph and that was scary!!
It was only about £60 as it was an engine from a stolen/recovered bike which couldn't be used on the road again. (Engine number was ground off). It did cost quite a bit more than that to buy carbs, CDI and wiring loom etc from eBay.
please tell me where i can purchase such a frame, and tell me what else i need, i just bought a cbr600 motor for a go kart and i realize now the only thing ill be able to put it in is a buggy frame.
I'm afraid that building the frame is 10 times easier than the rest of the build. You'll need to be able to weld brackets etc on the frame, so start with learning to mig weld then go from there. Buy plans from "The Edge Buggies".
I have watched clip after clip of interesting buggy's being driven like they were made of glass (snore zzzz), you on the other hand drove it like a stolen horse. Bravo my friend, I have had some hot machines in my 35 driving years, ('03 ZX9 at present) and I sure would like to drive that thing!!
Cheers.. I tend to thrash everything I own to an inch of it's life! ;-)
I must admit I snapped a few 30mm driveshafts in the early development days and had a few scary moments (e.g front wheel stub axle snapping off at 50mph), but that's what adrenelin sports are all about. :-)
I've got an old Yam FJ1200 on the road at the moment and that gets a bit of stick!
I only took it to 70mph (according to GPS), but at that speed it's hard to stop on slippery stubble. If I had more "straight line" space then 100mph would be easy.
I used Ford Sierra Half shafts welded (cut in well using at least 180 Amps) to some Lada Riva Propshaft CV joints. The static part of the drive had to be a proper keyed buggy axle as any movement of sprockets or brake discs will trash the axle. I broke mine several times before I spent some money on keyed steel carriers and axles.
Is that a CB750? (Sorry.. I'm not up to speed on what's what). I've just got myself a CB750 F2N (RC42) on the road. My latest buggy (Sidewinder) has got a VFR400 engine in it. Much more handleable due to it being better built and far superior wheels.
I want one!!!! How well does it do on the sand? Where i live (Oregon, United States) ther's alot of sand dunes on the beach where i always ride my YFZ. How much US Dollars is it?
My mate has built one of these and put a 900cc Honda Fireblade engine in it. He has just got it back from powder coating and hasn't had a chance to assemble it yet. I can't wait till he does!
No, Sorry. I sold it last year to someone who lives in France to pay for my Kit Car. I think I'm going to build another one this Winter as I do miss it.
Build one yourself.. Get plans from "The Edge Buggies". I built mine for under £800 by doing everything as cheap as possible.
does he ever drive straight the staoring wheel never stops moving.

wow thats nuts, is it rear brake only? or do the front wheels have brakes on them
BBerkow 2 years ago
That one's got a single rear brake only... Not much good on chopped stubble field. VERY slippery!

what do u think the top speed on this thing is?

whats the h.p. its putting out???
turbos are the best thing for some engines, they increase h.p./torque and give better fuel economy when accelerating. best of both worlds ;)

dude you need to freaken shift! one of these days your gonna blow the engine to hell!

engine sounds a bit weak. :?
but otherwise - it's well done.

Do you mean weak mixture? It wasn't. The lambda was just right. Plus I was getting the full 100bhp out of it. (Which is plenty in such a light buggy)
