Maybe it is from the 80's, a little before Stage 1 (those where very similar to a modern Defenders)...
@LRTICO i think its a S 3, dont think its old enough for a series 2a. they changed in 1983' from 88 to 90 (were not called defender until 1990ish) and in 1984 from 109 to dan dan daann the !!!110!!!! ( they are the BEST (because i own one) ;-).
unless he had a 90 and changed the wings, bonnet and wind screen, maybe...?
also cant see the rear cross member very well (for standard 'big hole' for 'pto' shaft that series'ss have....but he does seem to have the smooth roof on it ,not the ribbed1?
