  • Ohio Light Opera (Wooster, Ohio) gave a fully staged version of this operetta maybe 5 years ago. Both the singers and orchestra were first rate! I think this production--with all the dialogue in English-- is now available on a CD-set. Thank you for this video. Great music.

  • anyone konows a version without the noise?

  • j'adore la chanteuse mutine...

  • I've never heard this in Russian. I think it is really nice, although now I can't understand it. I think I must learn some Russian.

  • is this operette?

  • BRAVI!!!!

  • They're not doing the Shimmy very well. Even so, it's more fun to hop while dancing than while singing.

  • Well, who knew the Ruskees were so much

    fun.

I hate to have to hop while singing.

    Tnx 4 the fun post.

  • Sehr geehrter Herr several2007,

haben Sie diese Operette auf Deutsch?

  • No....

  • lilyan ....dimitris gogos liked much this operetta by emmerich kalman...so his other nickname transformed in gogos[bajaderas]..i seen in wikipedia...

  • Russians are really good dancers and singers. I wonder if this performance is live? They dance and sing at the same time and do not seem to be out of breath...

  • It most certainly is live. This is from a Moscow Operetta theater performance, not a movie or TV. Pay attention at around 2:40 and after - it looks like the a quick view of the audience.

I've been to a number of operetta performances as a child. Yes, operetta singers sing, dance and act.

  • Thanks serrateresa for your reply and thanks several2007 for posting this beautiful video. Greetings to you both!

  • Очень забавно и главное красиво

  • Замечательная оперетта!

  • PREKRASNO!!

  • Fantastische Bewegungen. Macht spass.

  • There is not a single Russian theatre without Kalman's operettas in its repertoire. His music is heard at any concert of operetta artists, and both on radio and TV.

His music is folk by its nature since it combines czardas we feel close to, and Gypsy tunes that the Russians always loved. Furthermore, operettas' melodramatic plots sound concordant with the Russian soul.

  • very beautiful..........strepitoso!!!!!Eva
