  • at the air shows they should not put the week F/A-18 hornet as the blue angles it should be the F-14

  • Yes may be the spirit will perish but the memories remain.

  • As a child growing up in Norfolk, VA, I had dreamed of flying one of these. I was so obsessed, my father surprised me and took me on base, and I was able to see it in the flesh!!! Awesome!

  • this is a faggot song for a tomcat movie

  • pilot markku p from finland

  • my all time favorite.. tomcat.. a proven fighter...

  • :( i luved the tomcat it was an amazing plane and i wanted to fly it when i join the marines but now i dont know what ill fly

  • my uncle died in 1987 flying a f-14 he was in vf--33 he still holds 3 records he had one of the highest scores ever graduating from the naval accademy and heaviest take off from a carrier with a f-14 tom cat R.I.P. uncle bill message me if you wanna know anything i would be glad to talk about it

  • @1987hawkeye GOD BLESS YOUR UNCLE&R.I.P I THANK YOUR UNCLE FOR PROTECTING US DURING THE COLD WAR AGAINST THE SOVIET UNION

  • A F-14 can land on a, carrier!!.........a tornado is'nt designed,for rugged sea-life

  • this song fits perfect..the only true love i have ever felt is every time i see an F-14 it makes my blood rush..us navy should give them all to me for free!!! :D

  • watch the copy rights...^^

  • This was my favorite jet in Ace Combat 5, best for most ground mission and missions with lots of turns. Very reliable jet. If I had the cash I would have bought one for myself

  • What worries me is that this fine machine and its prize (AIM-54) have fallen into the hands of Iran. (no offense to Iranians, but I just don't like Ahmedinejad)

  • @Spjungen

Well, the Phoenix wasn't that great of a missile. It was ment to take out Bear Bombers. The Few remaining Iranian Tomcats are mostly used as AWACS it seems. That radar is powerful.

  • The F-14 was not feared. It was respected by our enemy's, and Allys.

  • you know i usually call that sac-religious comming from an F/A-18 suporter but i completely agree so yea

  • it was very feared by enemy pilots who would run from it rather than stand against it

  • @TheScrumpty Okay. Read slowly. It was respected by our enemies and allies. I you don't understand it. Read slowly again.

  • i did read it slowly and i understood what you were trying to say but the fact is the tomcat was not only respected by enemy pilots it was tremendously feared as well, i do agree with your statement but it was just incomplete

  • The F14 Tomcat. Such a beautiful and cool looking aircraft.

  • great fourth gen plane but it's time for the 5th gen to show their mark. Sleath fighters has arrived.

  • @sg1parasite YAH! SLEATH IS TEH BUSTERESTED

  • f-14 is the best fighter ever and forever will be

    in my oppinion

    anytime baby

  • bullshit

  • yes but we only have one gen 5 plane and our wonderful president nobama cancelled the rest of the program

  • due to its high cost not because the plane was a bad aircraft which i agree with

  • i still want someone to tell me about these "high costs" the tomcat airframes were paid for and had been paid for for several years, the spare parts had also been paid for for several years, naval personel are paid on a salary, which means they are no more expensive to maintain than any other aircraft no matter what the maintenence hours to flight hours ratio is

  • @TheScrumpty

For every hour of flight time it spent 4 in the shop. That is the expense they talk about. That ment you either need more aircraft and personnel to maintain them per ship, or ran less sorties per ship, in comparison to newer frames. The wings alone are a monster to maintain. Its a good aircraft, but the hard life of a carrier is not conductive to long gevity. It will be missed and loved

  • @Tu49 You also have to realize that we don't need that many f-22s, because none of our enemies can make fighters to match it. It is smarter to make more 35s, as much as I love the 22.

  • @TheScrumpty We have the JSF program, but that isn't nearly as a capable to fill the gap that the F-22 was supposed to fufill in the Air to air role. If the US is to remain competitive with the latest Fulcrum and flanker threat, we need more Raptors.

  • @sg1parasite

only 1 has, and it only has stealth and thrust vector. other than that it isn't much of a match for gen 4 US fighters, of which the F-14 is the crowned king.

  • @sg1parasite Yeah, like "rusty" F-22... Just google for Rusty F-22 "You'll recall the Air Force claims its F-22 fighter is the world's best. Heck, at $350 million a pop, it should be. Too bad they didn't invest in RustOleum when they were building it."

  • The first time I saw a F-14 up close was when the USS Ranger, on its last cruise, stopped over at Sydney. VF-1 and VF-2 were aboard then. Next time they came it was USS Independence with VF-154 and VF-21. After that was Kitty Hawk and VF-154 again. The Constellation and VF-2. I lost my interest in carrier aviation when the navy went with the Super Hornet, and now the F-35C. I thought the navy made it a requirement since the A-7 Corsair that all their planes must have two engines for safety sake?

  • I'm wondering about the same thing, and it seems like I can't find the answer x.x

  • that is true the f/a-18 hornet is the only other two engine aircraft

  • how is the name of song??

  • show must go on - mercury

  • thanks dude

  • np bro :)

  • Point50Cal-you are right that the navy did keep some F-14's operational for training,BUT the US will never fight aginst them. When we sold them to Iran, we sent techs over to teach them how to use them and keep them flying. Then when we left do to a regime change the planes were mysterously dismantled so they would never fly. But yes, Iran has 84 Tomcats sitting in Desert storage and that is where they will remain.

  • germany considered to buy the tomcat, but they decied for the tornado. did you recognize that they are very similar?... ;)

  • the Tornado is not the same as the F-14, thats like saying a monkee is the same as a chimp

  • well but theyre both apes^^

no they've both turnable wings and about ths same size and weight.

  • @95predator:

    Tomcat = Air superiority

    Tornado = Tactical bomber

  • right, but they have both a similar wing construction and are both beauties, arent they?

yes the phoenix under achmadinedschad controlis fatal. you should sell f35 to israel, but for a lower price.

  • @95predator the thing is they are built for different jobs as a bomber/recon the tornado is better but as a fighter/interceptor the tomcat crushes tornado like it was little bug so you cant compare them at all and no they dont look alike even with swing wings i have seen the tornado upclose and its not half as pretty as the tomcat..so the conclusion is :you are wrong ;)

  • @95predator they look a lot alike on the outside but if you look at the cockpit they are very differant

  • @95predatorthey are diferent airplanes.... the tornado is usefull tu bombing and its not so got to dogfight....the tomcat can bob and is one of the best figthers in the world

  • @cholpasaurio the tom cat was for shooting bombers down, its out classed by any true air combat fighter

  • @TrrOtaku true, the F-14 was not made for dog fights, but it can take down most 4th gen fighters if the pilot is good. They have good long range missiles and far range radars that were made for BVR type attacks. It makes me think of them like a flying sniper.

  • @deckire yeah i suppose its what you strap to the wings and what is in the nose cone. coolest combat jet ever imo, it is totally unmistakable like its out of a manga film or something

  • @95predator The Tornado would get stomped by the Tomcat....

  • it will be awkward if the Iranian's F 14 beat American's F18 should any conflict arises.

  • you know what it would serve us right, i hate like hell to say that considering it would cost the lives of american sailors but for the stupidity of one man named dick cheney, it would serve us right to get our ass kicked by our own jet one that we could have beaten in a conflict if we had not retired and then destroyed our own tomcats

  • @TheScrumpty You know what, don't talk to me. talk to "JayStevens3". He's a captain or something. If the SH is soo bad, why did the Navy request a new fighter? Or why was it proposed, and approved by SECNAV and CNO? Politics had nothing to do with this. Nothing. If you don't believe me, fine. Talk to that guy mentioned above.

  • i would be happy to not talk to you but you keep bad mouthing me on almost every post you make, so if you leave me alone i will be happy to leave you alone, fair enough?

  • Why are you pissed off man ? Listen no matter what happens, a lot of people even myself we have loyalty and forever to the F-14 is the best fighter jet ever made, ther will be other Moder fighter jets but we will stay with the TOMCAT.

  • Not all the F-14s are retired yet. Some where kept by the Navy's Top Gun program as OPFOR aggressors, perhaps knowing that they'll likely face F-14s used by Iran.

Nonetheless, it's a shame to see the Tomcat go.

  • Sorry for the typo, "were" not "where".

  • Plus conus, peut être, mais l melleur c'est le RAFALE M

  • goodbye f-14 may your spirit live on forever T-T

  • i thought they are saying : silvester stallone, or super star

    i didn't expect : show must go on !!!

    loool

  • what is the name of this song?

  • The Show must go on by Queen

  • Great plane, but now it's retired the F18 has to prove it's self and it probaly will!

  • Yeah, but not in looks!!!

  • I like the F18 look, but i suppose it won't be as great as what the Tomcat did.

  • and how do you suppose the F/A-18 will prove itself, i dont see how it can, it has too many things working against it to truly suceed like the tomcat did

  • ive always wanted to see one of these as it was and still is my favourite jet, as im in UK its narrowed my chances even more of seein one of these beasts :(

  • f-14 frightening yet cool no plane will substitute his fame

my favorite plane since a child

    nice pictures

  • the navy didnt want to retire the f-14 they wanted to keep it as a bomber .. this hurts to see one of the greatest planes ever made to be put for retirment :o( im sure that the F35 will do a great job ... but nothing can compare to the F14 ! RIP F14 you will be missed by many !

  • F 14

  • wonderful vid, wonderful plane

  • shame to see such a workhorse dumped.....kept U.S back clear through the cold war

  • love the video and song watch my gulf war tribute

  • Actually Captain Dana Smudge Potts was planning on buying 3 D Tomcats. 1 to fly at airshows and 2 for spare parts but the price the Navy wanted was too high and the plans were put off for the time being.

  • isnt there anyway to buy one and just keep it? Not fly it or anything

  • nope, too many classified components. plus, there's no telling if Iran'll pay you a visit

  • o well

  • i know, i wanted one too!  and a komodo dragon, come to think of it, but they're illegal too :{

  • yah i wanted to keep one in an priviat airport and fly it every once and a while

  • hah! well, you can still buy MiGs and some Czech planes

  • i have the perfect solution if iran paid me a visit if i were ever to have the money to own one, high speed lead poisioning for the bastards

  • Amazing plane...awesome!
