Ron O'Brien had a great radio voice. Some great tunes on here; used to listen to KFI a lot at this time when they were playing music. Was so nice to hear Bruce Wayne("KFI In The Sky"!)again. Bruce Wayne is also still sorely missed by longtime Angelenos... though it has been many years since his passing.
Good God... what kind of mic processing were they using ?? I knew it was hot, but this video really let's me know how HOT it was. When Ron is talking off the air... he sounds... well, like everybody else. Then, cracks the mic, and I'm like... Holy Shit Batman. I've never worked in a station that had processing set this hot. I love it.
@thelazycomic I seriously agree with you back then. another example is KFYR 550 AM Bismarck, North Dakota in the mid 70's. AM radio. KFYR had processors that sounded so good, once the DJ got on mic. Try it once, go to KFYR here on youtube. the good ol day's. when radio was radio....
Pros. That radio station, along with my older sister's/brother's record collection, is what MADE my 1970's experience as a 4-8 year old. [tear]Halcyon days, damnit.. Halcyon days..[/tear]
i loved big ron on kfi. i was working in radio in lake tahoe so i used to listen to him at night on clear channel kfi and emultate him. rest in peace ron.

KFI with Big Ron, Jack Armstrong and Charlie Fox knocked off KHJ. A really great top forty radio station in the late 70's.
