I've recently constructed a cannon inspired by yours.
It's Dual 4" diameter 36in long sch 40 pvc, into dual cp-100s. Into a set of 2in elbows to a T with female threads allowing for various diameter barrels.
Can you remote fire with the modified pneumatic actuated sprinkler valves?

I once shot a green olive out my ass! It made a mark on the wall. I hurt my ass doing it. Now I want to make one just like you so I never put my ass in harms way again! This looks like a lot of fun. I dont think getting hit with one of them potatoes could be fun. I guesss if it can go through a bureau like that it could kill someone easily. So extreme caution should be used. I hope you can find time to answer a few questions. But a parts list would save me a lot of time.
flow... the valves only come up to 1". instead of 1" of air moving in X amount of time, i have 2" of air moving in X amount of time. its all about getting as much air out as fast as possible.
If money, time or skill is no object, pneumatic is still the way to go hands down. The biggest, most powerful spud guns are all pneumatic. I'm not saying you cant build a VERY powerful combustion gun, but if you mean something that will fire on stuff like hairspray or anything you just "squirt" into the barrel.... pneumatic is WAY more powerful. No question.
These are modded for air triggering. This being the case, the air triggering allows more air to escape faster than the electric solenoid. I would definitely say unmodded valves are better than ball valves though. You just cant open a ball valve fast enough. It's easy enough to mod a sprinkler valve, and way worth it.
I get as good or better with mine and I use a plastic 150psi 2" ball valve. I go from a 3" 191 cu/in cylinder to the 2" ball valve (accepts 1.5" fittings)to a 1.5" barrel. NO reduction between the two systems. My design is a low pressure (60- 80 psi), high volume design and it works GREAT. The sprinkler valves can really limit your flow. I'm not saying that that they don't work, because they obviously do work in your design. But I can most definetly open a ball as fast as those sprinkler valves.
not to be disrespectful, but you obviously do not understand how fast a sprinkler valve can open. there's a snow balls chance in hell that youre gonna manually open a ball valve faster than a sprinkler valve. to be honest with you, im willing to bet that most of the air in your gun has been discharged before you even get that ball valve open a quarter of the way, which means your 2" ball valve is now more like a 1/2" valve.
@72twist thats not entirely true with the ball valve. ive built numerous air cannons with 1 inch or 3/4 inch sprinkler valves. and ive also built a mortar with a 2 inch x 20 inch steel air chamber coupled to a 1.5 inch ball valve. i hit the valve and it fires. the ball valve setup is able to launch a baseball sized water ballon over 80 yards. the sprinkler valve cannons dont have the balls to fire one more than 10 feet in the air. (i use a sabot to launch the baloon of course)
hey, if you replace your sprinkler valve with copper solenoid valves, oyu can easily run up to 200 psi without having to worry about your pvc parts as long as they are cemented properly.
It takes about 5 seconds to fill the gun. In the video I am only using a 10 gallon compressor, so it has enough volume to fill the tanks a couple times without turning on.
Sweet. I just built my first pneumatic (no where near this size). I wonder if you'd get any more performance if you used a third sprinkler valve to trigger the two main valves. Also, it's my understanding these valves don't start self-destructing until you hit about 200 psi. Is that your experience? I'm running mine up to 150. So far no problems.
You probably wouldnt get any better performance with another sprinkler valve as a trigger, only because there is not much air volume that needs to be let out on the triggering side of the valves. I just use an air gun with the tip removed. Works great. I have only run up to 100psi. I guess i'm a little scared to go much past it. The most I would probably go would be about 120. You get to a point of diminishing returns with air pressure.
50 psi per tank? Or 100psi per 3" tank?

Have you thought of a piston valve? Not as large as a supah valve, but opens a lot faster.
Also, you should try GGDT (software) for that, to see how powerful it is.

nice spud gun, i still have a 10gallon steel tank one i wanted to make. there is no limit to air powered shooters, and they keep getting bigger.

you might as well of put one spprinkler valve on thhe barrel instead of 2 on the air chambers

i dont understand the point of dual sprinkler valves, why cant u just put 2 chambers leading to one valve, what would be the difference?

if u have a brass ball valve could you thread pvc into it or would u have to get brass fittings

You can thread pvc into brass, as long as you have the correct fittings, obviously.
