okay: you haven't gotten the music flowing with the lyrics. make it flow. im from the appalachain mountains and my dad plays old time music which i've been raised in. i know that song by heart and thats not how its supposed to go... but a good effort. the banjo has a good ring to it.
You've got to be kidding me. One of the great things about old time music is the amount of variation in a particular song. So you may know your dad's version, but unless his was on the Billboard top 40, then I'm gonna say your daddy's version is not the de facto one.
Exactly. These folk songs are *supposed* to be changed, adapted, altered according to the mood and feelings of the singer and time and place. They change; that's what makes them enduring. Omie Wise is one of the great ones - no matter who's doing it.
