@mosakaso2010 Hi mosakazo. Thanks for your kind comments! As I haven't uploaded any music to YouTube for a while, I'll try to focus on uploading some Queens material in those languages soon.

@MrTommybull Hello again. I'm always on the hunt for this kind of music in whatever format - shellac, vinyl, cassette, CD... and so on. Unfortunately, I haven't come across "Thoko No. 7" yet. The only versions that I have are "Thoko" (this original version, originally released in 1964) and a follow-up recording called "Bala Thoko" (released in 1965). If I do manage to track down "No. 7", I'll let you know ASAP!
Hi there, yes its about a year ago when I made my comments about Thoko No 7 and I still cant download the music, are able to tell me how and is it possible to have the complete music without another tune imposed on it, there must be someone with Thoko No 7 who would'nt mid sharing it with me, I dont care if its a little scratched or damaged. Love that music........Tom
Thanks for the kind comments! If you look on my channel you'll see quite a bit of this kind of music already uploaded. I still have plans to make available some more of this music, so... stay tuned. Thanks again!
@NickLotay, Love old xool songs. You are part of a group of people that is making sure that music like this never die. Can you upload the song that kicks in at the tail end of the 1st song. 2ndly, I used to dance to a song that we called "Goloza". Dont know of the singa but may have been produced between 1969 and 70
Thank you for your kind words. The song you hear at the end of this video is called "Soweto Bump". It is available to buy on the CD "Mathaka Vol. 2" by Makgona Tsohle Band. You'll be able to find it on the sites Oneworld.co.za and Kalahari.net.
I was in Rhodesia in 1964 when Thoko was called Thoko No7 I would give anything for that tune as it would bring back so many happy memories of my younger vdays.
the MOTTELA logo and the image of the single made ma heart stop a bit. makes sweet childhood memories of Ekhaya, Matabeleland more vivid. Thanks for the upload. (okanjobo zami zinde angihlali phansi)
Thanks for posting this video. Is there a complete video of the band playing at the end? They sound like Boyoyo but one of the other commenters said they are the Makgona Tsohle Band. Who ever they are that is wonderful footage and it would be nice to see all of it.
The Makgona Tsohle Band was the 'house band' at Mavuthela, the African music division of Gallo Africa. They were one of the greatest mbaqanga bands in SA during the '60s and '70s, through the '80s.
The footage of the guys is taken from a very shortlived TV series they did in 1982/3, called "Mathaka" (it was a mixture of comedy, music and drama). As far as I'm aware they made over 100 episodes before the show was cancelled, and this is the only piece of footage I have of it.
It's a very modest song with only a few lyrics, but basically it's a love song about a girl called Thoko. From what I can hear, they're singing "Thoko, ujola nobani... woza, Thoko" which means something like "Thoko, go steady with that guy... come, Thoko!"
Brilliant! That is some really great footage of the Makgona Tsohle Band. Quite rare indeed. I have never knew there was footage of this great band. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for posting it, Nick!

Unfortunately this song hasn't been released in any digital format yet - what you hear is taken from the original record from 1964.
