  • I'm going to watch your journey from the beginning :)

  • @thenewme20111 Thanks for watching. Enjoy.

  • GREAT INTRO VIDEO. SO AWESOME TO SEE HOW WELL YOU HAVE DONE SO FAR BY REVISITING THE START :) WELL DONE YOU!

  • @BeTheBestMe Thank you Julie. It's been almost 9 months now. It's been a very fast change for me but things have been slowing down. I'm within the last 20 lbs for my surgeons goal. I'd like to do better then his 250 goal but we'll see where I get to. I'm trying to find the zen in weight loss. Stress makes us fat. I'd like to avoid it. ;-)

  • Ed, I just watched your intro for the first time. Sorry, never took a chance to go back and watch your earlier stuff. Let me just say though.... WOW!!! You are doing so well. I didn't realize you had gotten that big. I think it sounds like you and I were in pretty much the same boat. Same weight range, and comorbidities. It certainly is giving me hope and reaffirming my decision to have the surgery. Thanks again for sharing your journey. You are definitely an inspiration bud. Take care. ~ Eric

  • @NotSoPlump Thanks Eric. I feel blessed to come this far without a major problem from my surgery. It is life changing. I no longer need HBP pills but still need to use the c-pap. I've had to turn the pressure down a few times because as my neck thinned it would pump air into my pouch and make me burp all night. Last night I tried to get to sleep without it but my snoring woke me up. So I still need to use it. It's painful for me to see myself in the video. I was slowly dieing.

  • Hi Ed,

I'm a new fan and like you and many of us, am finding inspiration, support, and education from the many you tubes of generous souls like you.

Today I got my date for the vertical sleeve- May 9th- woo hoo! I also started using a cpap machine two weeks ago and am finding it really is making a difference.

I have recently started my own vlog to pay it forward- have a look! Hugs and thanks- Meggie

  • @meggieprice Thanks for you comments Meggie. I just subbed to your channel. I'm still using my cpap but I had to turn the pressure down because it was pushing air into my pouch and causing me to burp in my sleep. I hope to be off it when I reach my doctors weight goal.

Best to you with your VS in May.

  • Wow you felt at the beginning of your journey like I feel now... And you are doing fantastic now! I look forward to someday being in the spot you are in (weight loss wise, not in your kitchen lol) and being an inspiration to others!

  • @TexasLBGirl Thank you Amy. You'll get there. I find these making and watching others YT videos a good way to keep me motivated.

  • I sleep about 10-11 hours a night as well and I am just exhausted all day. Taking a shower or doing anything takes a lot of intrinsic motivation and I simply don't have it. I have a sleep study scheduled for the end of the month. I'm glad to hear that you found some relief with the C-Pap machine

  • @siva418 I still use my C-pap. but look forward to the day when I can put it away for good. It takes some getting use to but really helps. I hope you get one soon.

  • Aw, you are such a sweet heart...

  • I know this is several months late (My comment) but I'm really just diving in to YouTube and have started watching your videos. I have to say that you have such a calming effect coming through, and I really enjoy watching your progress.

    Thanks for sharing Ed!

    Aly

  • @BeingHappyMe Thanks for the compliment Aly.

  • I too was 12 when I gained weight steadily.

I'm getting a RNY done too.

    2003 = 253, dropped 53 lbs within a year on Atkins.

2004 = got pregnant, and gained weight since then.

    Am now 323. Highest 326.

Hope to get surgery in October.

  • @mrsheatherkl Heather, I really do believe low carb diets like Atkins work well. I think the science behind low carb makes a lot of sense. I definitely have an addiction to high carb foods like bread and sugars. They will trigger me to binge eat. However the one thing any lc diet could never do for me was portion control. The hunger pangs always made me loose control.

I wish you the best with your chance for weight loss surgery. Hang in there and for now try cutting out the sugars in your life.

  • @reinventingEd Thanks a lot Ed. I did love Atkins, and was healthy on it. But I lost my chance of doing well on it again, after pregnancy, as I couldn't lose weight as easily as I did the first time on it.

  • @mrsheatherkl I didn't say start doing Atkins again. I just said try to avoid eating sugars. But thanks for your reply because I have to remember I'm not here to give advice as if I know what is best for others. Best to you on your weight loss efforts.

  • @reinventingEd I didn't say you said I had to either :O) I was just saying I wish LC would work and maybe after the RNY it will! :O) Good luck to you too and I look forward to watching your journey!

  • Thank you for sharing with us, I know you can do it and we will be right here helping you along the way. This is a great community and we need more men and you are doing the right thing for you! You documenting your journey will encourage more men to jump in and follow your lead. I'm looking forward to following your Journey.

  • @virginiann1975 Hi Virginia, thanks for your comments, I'm not sure I want to be any sort of leader in the WLS community. I see myself as just one more person who is willing to put a little of his life on camera and tell my story. I also see it as an important tool to help keep me accountable and give me a visual record of where I've been. I know the physical changes in the next year will be profound. I think it'll be fun to watch.

  • Ed !!!!! Good luck next week. I guess right now you're on liquid diet?? Just keep pushing through it. Keep your mind busy...watch videos and drink drink drink.

  • @TheSlimJen Hi Jen, I started the clear liquid diet on Saturday. Tuesday can't come soon enough.

  • Hi Ed welcome to the best WLS support system on the planet! I'm one of Sally's groupies so here I am, lol. ALL of us get the heebie jeebies before surgery it is totally natural, once you are out for a couple months you will be so glad you had the surgery. I had my rny gastric bypass 5 months ago in Seattle and have lost 85 pounds so far!! Wishing you all the best and look forward to following you on your journey!! =D

  • @tryshh Thanks for the welcome Pat. I just subbed to your channel. Looks like you're doing good.

  • @reinventingEd Sure am, any questions feel free to ask!! You will too, thanks for the sub!! =D

  • Hi Ed. I weighed 441 pounds at my gastric bypass consult . Since my surgery, I've lost well over 200 pounds as well as all comorbidities. At my consult I was on metformin for diabetes, and even with atenelol, my systolic blood pressure was 190. I also had to wear a cpap every night. I don't have any of those problems anymore, and I don't have the aches and joint pain anymore.

Yes, there are risks to surgery, but being morbidly obese is also a risk.

wishing you all the best, Yehuda.

  • @yalg22 Thanks for the well wishes Yehuda. I've been watching your vlogs for a couple of months now. I've very impressed with your progress. It's not just the surgery that changed you. It's the accountability in your decisions that has really impressed me. We have a lifetime challenge with our weight issues. I know my binge eating won't change with this surgery and I have to be much more accountable my actions. My social worker at St. Lukes said 90% of this is our heads. I need to work on that.

  • @reinventingEd Yes it is life long, and as long as you accept that and continue to work on your issues, you'll be just fine. Stay in touch, Yehuda.

  • Hello Ed !!! Welcome Welcome clap clap !!! • Hey Ed welcome to the WLS Community!! We share very similar stories. I did Atkins for years on and off again. I was heavy in High school, lost weight, gained weight. You will be successful! Just takes time. Best of luck. I'll be watching your progress.

  • @thegerm1 Thanks for the big welcome Jeremy. I've been tuning into your vlog for a few weeks now. Good to see your feeling better.

  • Hey Ed welcome to the amazing You Tube WLS community!

You will feel better, way better in fact how you feel is the best part. people around you will tell you how good you look but you will know the important thing is how good you feel. Ed, you are right to feel nervous it is a huge step but think about this... when was the last time you saw a morbidly obese 80 year old? Right... ?

If you need any help, advise support the WLS community is here. Also go to wlsfa.org and join us there.

  • @AntoniaTakeTwo Thanks for the well wishes Toni. I'll check out wlsfa.
