I think that the doc went numb. Compared to killing the woman he loved everything else is chump change. Though that doesn't mean he lost his humanity; I find it worth arguing as long as he shows remorse there is always that chance. In analyzing way the story unfolds the way he says "and I am fine" reminds me of the phrase "the lady protests too much". In the end I could see him trying to bring down the Evil League of Evil for Penny's memory.

I don't think most people understand, but when Penny said "Captain Hammer will save us", yeah. Even though C.H. was a complete jerk, she stills thinks about him til the very end. That's what, in a way makes Horrible lose his sense of humanity. Everything he cared about is gone, so he becomes selfish. His trust in the world was completely destroyed by that one little statement.

@bookaddict247 There's no point for a sequel because there wouldn't be the emotional, human aspect to it. This movie was amazing not because it was a great superhero movie, but mainly because it is a character study. It's a good movie because the movie takes a genuinely good guy, convinces him that his only choice in life is to do evil, and in the end takes everything that mattered away from him. The humanity in Dr. Horrible dies in the end, and he's left completely disenchanted.

"My victory's complete"  what a line. You can tell that he knows it is a pyrrhic victory: that he lost something much more important than he gained by getting into the evil league. What a story....

@lkoiuj317 Actually, Penny dieing wasn't on purpose, it was a mishap of his death ray thing exploding after Hammer tried to fire it at him. Horrible was originally going to kill Hammer, but it never happened that way.

But yeah, after Penny died, Horrible had nothing left to care for in the world and became selfish.

For the sake of those who don't like the audio cutoff, may I make a suggestion? Pad the files with ten or twenty seconds of silence at the end. Then, if the video gets cut off, rather than losing song, you will lose the "dead time" instead.

I think it was more along the lines of: He got what he wanted in the sense that he became a villain, but because he lost Penny he couldn't really enjoy it. He just went emotionally numb and didn't feel any of the joy he thought he'd have of being a real villain.
