@MattAUS1997 You have to remember that a Supra is an incredibly heavy car for autocross. In order to get it to perform you need some kind of suspension mod. Polyurethane bushings, thicker anti-sway bars, springs, ect. The cars are so old (have worn out suspension) and so heavy, they have a hard time getting their power to the ground. Use the first couple of laps to figure out where the apex is in each corner. A supra's strong point is not cornering, it's speed. Stay in 2nd gear most of the time
@MattAUS1997 if you are asking generic autocrossing questions: make sure your car can pass the safety inspection. The club should have a list posted on their website of what needs to be checked and secure on/in the car. It's kind of funny when an old datsun 210 with less than 90hp can post better times than a 200+hp Supra. Remember: tires, brakes, weight, suspension, and driving style are the components of autocross. Balance those things and you will post good times, if nothing else HAVE FUN!
@SRZsmack Thanks, it was my second run of the day and I was still getting use to the track and car. I was posting times similar to modified RX7's and 240's with full suspension mods. Overall I was very proud of the car and how well it performed, considering I had just put it back together after a BHG (2 weeks before) and a dead fuel injector (the night before).
any tips for a rookie autocrosser?
