  • WOW you did an amazing job! phemoninal! AGH!!!! AMAZING!!! MINDBLOWING! SPECTACULAR! <333

  • Wow. This is truly one of the most amazing preformaces of this song and these characters I have ever seen. Well done!

  • My friend is doing this play at our Backdoor Theatre performing studio and she showed me this last night, and i absolutely fell in love with it! I love how you actually look like you're in pain when you're changing from Jekyll to Hyde. It sends chills down my spine and i get goosebumps. I have never seen this song from the play done so well and with so much enthusiasm. Good job, Robert. :)

  • I just want to point out that it says in the sscript that the transfromations are painful, at least according to the song "The First Transformation." Yet, for some reason, most actors only portray THAT single transformation as painful. That has always bothered me, so I want to congradulate you for having some common sense and realizing that if one transformaiton is painful, it only follows that the rest should be. THANK YOU SO MUCH for realizing that.

  • I could accually FEEL your pain at each transformation. I too, am a tespian, but I've never perfomed at the State festival. Just in front of my class. But seriously....I'm n love.

  • this was amazing...I love how commited you are with the piece...great choices...this is the best recording iv seen of this song...bravo...im doing this piece for districts next year

  • Greatest Confrontation EVER performed in the history of the world! Nobody beats YOU Rob :3!!!

  • You are truly an amazing fellow senor! I love your voice and this is the best performance of Confrontation I've ever seen! You truly deserved Critic's Choice! Brava brava!

  • camera man needs to turn off auto focus lol, but its amazing for a young aactor like he is... my brothers are involved in theatre here in oregon and thats damned good for a high schooler

  • Amazing for such a young actor! It is rare outside of a professional theatre production to see such a strong representation of both personalities. Your posturing and voice dynamics in the representation between the two were marvelous. Bravo young man.

From the Georgia state Thespian of the year 1995! (god I feel old now..)

  • wow. simply wow.

  • Very nice, but I could have done without the screaming during the transformations and I wouldn't have spent so much time on the floor. Vocally it's one of the best on youtube for whatever that's worth :)

  • That was really epic! It almost looked pre recorded though. Im sure it wasn't though. It was really good. Although i would have prefered you sing the part "For i'll live inside you forever" rather than yell it. just and opinion

  • I think the "physical transformation" was interesting, but too much of it made it distracting. Your voice switch is amazing enough as it is - a strong Jekyll and an equally strong sounding Hyde. I think because of the constant scream-switches, you changed from the rich deep tones to more of a throat-screaming sort of singing.

Other than that, watching the performance was a delight! Excellent use of the stage.

  • I truly admired your use of the whole stage, which I find is quite lacking in many other performances I've seen. I'm going to play this role at my high school and have also made the choice not to do the whole "stand-in-one-place-and-go-back-and-forth" method. Bravo!

  • I actually did like the transitions between Jekyll and Hyde. It showed a real struggle to be in control of the body, and that it was a violent struggle that took its toll on Dr. Jekyll. Very well done

  • holy santa clause shit. i remeber seeing this freshman year. dude ur so good

  • I agree with Fiedlerfan4lyfe, your transitions between jekyll and hyde were a bit hokey and overdone. you should depend more on your acting and voice. both of which were excellent, by the way. a very very very good voice. and the character development on both was very well done.

  • You're the greatest actor in our generation! 8D *standing ovation* YAAAAAAAAAY! GREATEST PERFORMANCE EVER TO GRACE THAT STAGE! 8D

  • Really good. I didn't really like how you made such a big gasp or sometimes a yell or convulsion when you changed back and forth though between Jekyll & Hyde, but that's just me.

  • I am currently building the temple now known as Rob Mobley Unlimited...the Extreme Mobley Experience. I'm not really sure you are aware of this...but just in case you're not...I wanted to let you know...you ARE Rob Mobley.

  • This is SOOO wonderful! and it's very refreshing to see some different blocking to this song :)

    BRAVO!

  • Amazing... it's incredibly believable too. I absolutely LOVE your Hyde!

  • amazing dude

  • Whoa... great visual transformations between characters. I hadn't seen that done before. Brava!

  • i love the change between the two characters.

    it is an amazing transition.

my best friend is performing this at Florida Thespians state competition this year as well.

It is interesting to see other ways of doing this.

    This was an amazing performance.

  • omg..i didnt even think it was you singing at first but it was unbeleivable! the performance of a lifetime!!!!

  • Possibly the BEST performance of this song I have ever seen. I have seen many. This is amazing!

  • this is amazing

    great job :)

  • Broadway Bound!

  • This kid is pretty good, wow.

  • You=amazing.

  • you rock! i was there that night :P

you were the best out of all of the critiques choices

  • Wow. You made me go and buy the songs to put on my ipod. Your very good- how'd you get that way? Special training or something? :)

  • Best rendition I've seen so far, even though there was no special costumes or anything.

  • I was in the front row when I saw this! It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen Rob!You were also awesome as Genie & in Popcorn too!! Hope you're doing great in college! Best wishes to you b-^u^-d.

    -Your #1 fan

  • Amazing performance. I love how you do the convulsion to show the switch. Better demonstrates the battle between the two in my opinion. Plus your submissive/aggressive pose switches really adds to the two characters :)

  • This is amazing! This is probably one of my favourites that I've seen, thus far.

I actually found the "twitching"/convulsing fantastic; It seemed to emulate the pain that Jekyll would obviously be feeling during transformation; It's exaggerated, obviously, as this is theatre, and it's what we do. :)

  • ok so check out my video response. I used some of your ideas in this song cause they were brilliant. I got critics choice at districts but I try to represent us at states but didnt get critics choice sadly, one judge didnt like so much movement. anyway thanks for the brillant ideas for the song if it wasnt for you I wouldnt have even done this song. tell me what you think of my rendition.

  • Rob! Whats with the camera guy???

I love it. Your awesome as always.

  • This version is intense!

    Great Job (:

  • I love this song and saw someone perform it at states this year as well the audience in the room even stood up and started clapping and cheering dispite the judges. I like this performance and his vocals are amazing I do agree that screaming repeatedly is not the best choice as he goes back and forth because it throws the audience off and turns his singing into screaming. His movements are really good but he could be a little more stiff to give the appearance of fighting his conflict.

  • When you think about what has happened to Jeckyl before this point, the song works well. Out of context however it must look pretty crazy!

  • stop fucking writing stupid comments when you dont know what youre talking about!

  • What is there to know? Forgive me for having an opinion, but I feel that his screaming ditracts from the fluidity of the scene, and distracts me from the fluidity of the music. It's unnecessary when your doing the movements. Also the way he screams "never" at the end is very annoying, I'm not feeling the emotion at all.

  • when you get to perform a song at closing ceremonies then you can talk bad about this perfomance

  • Umm, I have?

  • sure.......when?

  • SLO little theater, around 2001.

Melodrama department a little before that.

    A couple school functions.

Pat Jacksons american dance troup 2002.

  • wow that's so amazing!...... but wouldnt have been better if you got it from states for a solo? yeah stop criticing people who are more talented than you. it makes you look stupid arogent and if you are going to. do it in a nice way and stop being mean about it.

p.s everyone else I expect like a million thumps up for this one. lol

  • First off, I can't even discern what your trying to say in your first sentance, and second of all, if you are going to badger me about the merits of my performances, even though you diden't ask for ANY kind of discrepancy in your previous question, then what might be your credentials?

  • Hey guys, I appreciate your comments, but I would like to keep the arguments to a minimum. Casperjebus, I thank you for your opinion, but I unfortunately do not own a DeLorean time machine so I could alter my performance (and I am a fan of keeping the vocabulary civilized when voicing myself). Codyrocksmysocks08, thank you for your constant optimistic comments. It really means a lot that a piece like mine can spark such arguments. Again, thank you both for your opinions.

  • great vocals on the piece just tone down the transitions a bit :)

  • a really awsome job... the only advice i can offer is when u transition i totally get the idea and thats a really good thing to do but just switch up the the growls a lil bit instead of the same ooohah thing u got goin on. but otherwise insane performance

  • believe me...you are really a great actor, besides a very good singer...you should have an excellent vocal techinque to do all that fisic movements and sing this song! every single transition is perfect..jeckyll & hyde are truly alive..well done...

  • honestly, wow. this is by far the best performance i've seen on YouTube as of yet. Your movements were amazing and unlike anybody else's. You didn't confine yourself to the usual "switching side" idea but utilized the entire stage and even threw yourself on the ground a few times.

The only thing that I didn't fully like was your transistions in the beginning. I liked the idea, but it was a tad destracting.

Other than that, however, command performance!

  • you have to understand that it's suppose to be a surprise in the beginning, and having that first tranformation like that gives the audience some curiosity in the piece and makes you wonder what truly just happen until the second transformation where you finally understand what just happened. I think I put that right.

  • for that particular performance, yes, but at that point in the musical people are well aware that dr. jekyll as an alter ego. but I do agree that it would be a surprise for that performance.

  • oh ok. I see what you mean. but yes it is good for the performance.

  • AWESOME!

  • I was at the dance when this was going on, but wow! I love it.

Jekyll and Hyde is easily my favorite show. You're wonderful, the voice is phenomenal. This is an A+ performance.

  • hey Mobley, good job at districts last week loved popcorn and friendship didnt get to see children's hour but heard it was great. Oh loved this song saw it in the room and at critics choice

  • there is only one wayy to view this song being done,

    live

    it just seaks in.

  • agree

a kid did at my districts and i was front row in the small room where he did it, and i cried its just moving.

  • Great job!

  • the chest resonator is an actors best friend. use it.

  • I am a fellow florida thespian yay! Seriously...this is amazing...and i get chills everytime i watch it. Its incredible. The kind of performance we all hope to give at state one day!

  • Really great job...Very original and very dramatic...Watching the performance was just as fun as listening to the voice....5 stars!!! I would love for you to check out me singing confrontation and let me know your thoughts...It's on my home page...Thanks

  • WOW!!!!! This is freaking amazing...i went to Florida state every year in highschool and watched over rated ppl perform this..you on the other hand were FANTASTIC!!!!! Go FLORIDA THESPIANS

  • hey man you did a great job i was at the dance when u did this but had i known confrontation was going on i deff. would have watched it.

  • dude...holy crap! That was the most amazing original version I have ever seen...dude...give me your voice...I want it...lol...anyways great job!

  • I saw this live. My troupe did the elevator skit at opening ceremonies. You are amazing, Rob! Really amazing.

  • when I perform this song it hurts my voice som much when I do hyde's part. did you have the same problem?

  • My throat was always parched after doing this song. But I think that comes with the territory. haha.

  • well that's true. when we do hydes voice we are using are voices incorrectly but you have to if you wanna make it sound raspy and creepy. I can wait to perform this for thespian festival this year.

  • Woah, what amazing physicality! I like the way you use your performance space, it's very original. 'Confrontation' is a great song! Well done :-)

  • How can I find words to describe this? Prodigious. Unwonted. Usually people who can do this well have a strong kinship with their inner 'Hyde', but that could be me.

How long did it take to get it where it was at?

  • WOW

  • What made you choose this peice?

I'm doing the show now with a local theatre group, and after looking through different videos I have to say that your performance is the best I've seen.

  • I had always loved this show, and I just liked to play around with that song to humor myself. After about two years, I thought I'd give it a shot at competition, despite the fact that for every one "Confrontation", there is about 6 more there. But I got lucky. Haha. Thanks for your comment!

  • ...This is the best Jekyll I've ever seen. It's made me speechless, and this actor should be commended on his beautiful shift between the Jekyll and Hyde characters. Incredibly believable. Jeesh.

  • Was that you singing live? If it was WOW, if not WOW on the dramatic lip sync.

  • yes, i sang this at the Florida State Thespian Festival this past spring. Thanks for the comment!

  • your scary:)

but amazing and i love you!

  • the transformations is what mae this video they mad e it actually look like me was being possesed by Edward Hyde

  • I have goosebumps it was that good.

  • words can not describe my amazement. i am sad i didnt go see this when u were performing it...was this the best of show performance? if it was, you definitely deserved it. well done.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG you are awsome

  • You were absolutely amazing!!!! I was blown away!

  • Wow, to bad the camera keeps getting fuzzy. Wow.

  • JESUS FUCKING CHRIST MAN!!!

    That was soo amazing!!!!

  • Amazing dude, acting is superb, I'm going to steal alot from you when I do this song from now on! The hyde is almost a little too raspy, uncontrolled, but overall this is amazing. I love the switches.

  • you were amazing

    your hot call me

(i was in the front row)

    ;)

  • Very nice job ^_^ This is the best rendition of Confrontation that I've seen so far. You have a lovely voice so yes, you need to take care of it.

I had an exorcist flashback while I was watching this. :P Lol I hope you have a successful acting/singing career. :D

  • Very nice, but I'll also re-iterate what was said above. Continuing to use your Hyde voice in that matter will lead to some serious vocal chord damage.

  • It was absolutely original and amazing. Do me a favor and watch your voice. You are going to destroy your vocal chords at your age if you continue with the Hyde sound. I know from experience doing this show myself, and I now have Bilateral Vocal Nodules because of it. Amazing, you'll go very far, just take care of your gift.

  • WOWWOWEEWOW

  • Ohmy goodness....i didn't think anyone could do it without looking retarded but you sir...you made it right!!!

  • I saw you perform this at the convention center and main stage, and all I can say is, holy crap man, absolutly awesome! Me and my friends all think you were fantastic. I got goosebumps personally and one of my friends thought fire was going to shoot out of your hands durring the Hyde parts. Keep it up and you'll go VERY far!

  • Ah, COOL, you guys were at Festival? in Tampa?

    This guy is fantastic.

I didn't get to see him at State...but that was the best time I've ever had in my life.

A friend of mine did this song; it was phenomenal. I don't like his Hyde but his Jekyll is fantastic.

Wow. That's so amazing. He did perform at my sister's middle school banquet though...I love his transformations and blocking. He uses the stage so well.

  • OMBOB! This is the guy I saw at state. He was absolutely AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG He gave me goose bumps! I cannot describe how awesome he is!

  • this was SO GOOD i was there @ states and i gave it a standing ovation!!!!!! great job!!! States has been the best experiences ever (2 years and going again!)

  • anybody recorded the opening ceremonies? i was in aida's dance of the robe? anybody?

    thanks

  • Aw, that was phenomenal.

My favorite large group...that, and Keep it Gay.

  • Oh my my my... quite an impressive show you put on there. I feel your pain, ouch that must of hurt so bad. There were points in the song that the background music overpowered you, and sometimes I couldn't quite understand what you were saying but an otherwise amazing performance, you most certainly did deserve critics choice. I was there as part of district 13 our troupe won two critics choice. Small group scene and duet scene, we did the Macbeth scene and the Judas scene.

  • I was there and it was really really really good. That's the one that left me in shock for 2 days. I'll never forget the whole Festival, and this was one of the best things about it!!! You have true talent.!!!

  • What room were you in?

  • Solo D i believe. i dont remember.

  • I think i was in that room. Congrats!

  • I saw you in this room doing it. We all freaked out.

  • sooo much better than David hasselhoff .. Keep it up you have soo much potential.. AHHHH YOU ARE AMAZING!

  • Nice body language.

  • utterly amazing.

seeing you do it live in front of me - man, oh, man! there are no words.

  • did you record district 5 troupe 4848's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Spamalot? They won small group critic choice. post it please thanks!

  • No. The guy who recorded this only recorded the individual events from our troupe. However I will say that those guys were great and it was a pleasure meeting them backstage! I wish we did record it.

  • great job! i'm a district 7, troupe 4879 alum. just curious...were though background vocals on the karaoke? it sounded like it. (not of u singing, but the operatic chanting)

  • No. It was a synthesizer that took the place of the vocals that are used in the actual show. Good ear though.

  • hey good job i was there too just at the dance lol go district 12 lol

  • yay smookie i am so proud of you! you can see your little blonde spot at one part lol <3

  • 6/5

  • The was AMAZING!!! You have a true talent!

    (However, go District 10 ^_- )

  • Ah i was supposed to be at closing ceremonies! but i had to leave a day early. my friend taylor also got critics choice for her solo cabaret.

great job! you have an amazing voice!!!

  • Im in her troupe!

  • oh sweet!!

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG!

  • I saw this at the Convention Center and KNEW it would mainstage. I just knew it. Amazing job.

  • Oh...Goodness. This was spectacular.

    Yay FL State Thespians 07!

  • AH! I remember watching this! Great job!!!
