If you go to your local hardware store and go to a section with like mouse traps and mole stuff there is this dynamite shaped stick and you would light its fuse and it will make a sulphur cloud and that should kill them without harming your plants or yourself.

Interesting thought on the traps. I am also fighting some pest insect problems and although mine is just ants. It was suggested to me to use Borax as it's all natural and it apparently dehydrates the ants. I was wondering if you could do the same thing with your traps and put Borax on the "bait".
