You are part of the problem.
@davidthegreatgeneral Well, at least iraq was an independent country from the dictatorship and imperialism of the IMF, world bank, wall street, nike, shell, ect... I don't like dictators.. but the USA is a more totalitarian state than Iraq was during the regime of Sadam. Actually do u know how the current political system in the western world is actually called?Fascism. According to Mussolini corporatocracy and fascism are the same thing... and they are. So u can't call anybody a dictator...
@ProudAntiJTFER what's it like to be racist? what is the shortcoming that inspired your hatred of others? It's been said that those who call the most names have the most to hide. What are you hiding?
ha ha ha wow I mean wow... I kinda like this stupid band just for the laughs. I didn't know people actually made music this bad and think they are right.
Woa FREEEDOOMM!! hahaa I'm really drunk right now goys.. I LOVE BUSH IWILL SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS. nehnahnehnehneeehnaaah BUSH WAAAAAASSSS RIGHT!! TEDB KENNEDY WRONG BUSH- RAWWKSS nehnehnehnahnaaahnaaah
Baathist Syria and Shiite Iran have cooperated for years to the detriment of peace ... what makes you think AQ couldn't become an ally-of-convenience with the Shiites?
Or any other group ... apparently you think terrorism starts and ends with AQ.
As for the Iraqis building a stable nation ...
as I said below, they are making more progress on that agenda than our own Congress is making on theirs ...
... and that wasn't happening before our Men and Women established peace through the surge.
mmarsh1972 ... all you are posting is the same old talking points that have been repeatedly discussed, debated, and debunked.
Afghanistan has as many or more ethnic groups as Iraq ... what they don't have is the technical infrastructure and wealth Iraq does, which makes Iraq more dangerous as an Afghanistan 2.0.
As for Osama's "ceasefire" ... do you take him at his word, too? Ever hear of the term "hudna"?
Let me tell you the biggest lie about this war ... the lie that it was unneccessary.
Ron Paul ran for president back in 1988. You can thank our corporate media for focusing its attention on only Dukakis and Shrub Sr, thus that's why no one heard of the far superior leadership qualities of Ron Paul.
Ron Paul has good things to say ... but his views on foreign policy began sliding into obsolescence with the advent of the 707 and container ship. His isolationist, passive approach to defense is as obsolete as the Maginot Line.
Add to that the annoying "Paulisites" who support him (some simply because he's GOP cover for them) ... and I see why he's not headed to the Oval Office.
By taking the Libertarian slot that might otherwise have been open to Paul, Bob Barr did us all a favor.
I am one of the "annoying 'Paulisites'" to whom you refer. I feel pride supporting a man who was an honorable flight surgeon (not some Air National Guard flunkie who disappeared for over a year), an obstetrician who brought 4000 lives into the world (Bush killed that many Americans in this war - and our economy), and someone who does not externalize our nation's problems.
You mean a "flunkie" with ~ 400 hrs. flight time in a plane that was effective in killing off the terminally stupid? So much for "Bush is dumb ... next you'll tell me that fufilling his NG committment was "fake but accurate"?
And a Man whose actions liberated 50 MILLION PEOPLE from totalitarian brutality ... instead of seeing a good many of them be put into shredders and mass graves as he wallowed in the "principled" INACTION that is the common thread between Dr. Paul and the anti-war left.
I am no pacifist. I wish I had been born 50 years earlier so I could have fought in WWII. The US should have entered that war long before Pearl Harbor.
I feel sympathy for the Iraqi people, but remember that part of the reason Saddam Hussein became so powerful was because he was supported by the US during Iraq's war with Iran. Ronald Reagen knew full well what kind of monster he was dealing with.
Now these great men and women have to suffer for it.
Otherwise-prudent Men like Reagan played the proxy game with Saddam, because critics like you kept telling us that we could NEVER confront a Third World enemy directly. That would be "imperialism", y'know.
BTW, the relationship was a conversation-over-coffee compared to the whore's bed Saddam shared with France and Russia.
Where were YOU, demanding that Reagan drop Saddam in his tracks back then ... and where were YOU protesting when GHW Bush left the Iraqi people to their fate in 1991?
What was smokin' was news coverage of the "Highway of Death", making a legitimate attack look like capricious brutality.
That ... and insistence by the UN and Arab states that we "do not exceed our mandate" ... led GHWB to stop at 100 hours, instead of decisively defeating Saddam.
This was done after we encouraged Iraqis to rebel. 30,000 lost their lives as a result.
Just like today ... the Left and the media influenced our leaders to foment INACTION, when decisive action was called for.
I respect what they are doing for their fellow veterans. If they believe in what they are doing in Iraq, then God bless them. They deserve much better for a commander in chief.
I am tired right now. We'll work more on this conversation tomorrow.
Listen to the lyrics of the song, of how "right" Bush was. There isn't ONE thing on this song that turned out to be true. Bush was wrong on Iraq, on terrorism, on the economy, wrong on EVERYTHING!
Maybe its time to swallow your incredible ego and accept the fact that you were wrong, and that its high tide you start to listen to other people like the liberals, Democrats, and even the French. The fact remains: They were right, you were WRONG.
... either keep ol' RitchieTheRiveter (note the name) here to design and build some of the technology that our warfighters use to keep themselves and the innocent safe, in part by enabling them to kill ONLY the enemy ...
... or I go over there, and (because of my age and health) probably become the star of an AQI snuff video -- and Men are put at risk to find me.
So tell me, how would YOU choose to assign me, in support of the troops?
You dodged the question, I asked you where exactly did Patreaus claim that Saddam had WMD? Patreaus is hardly a unbias source either. Patreaus was appointed directly by Bush (because they couldn't find anybody else) to be the WH uniformed water-boy, his report was written by the WH. Do you really think he'd going to get up on National TV and give a honest assessment? This is Bush WH, they can't even spell the word 'honest'. It was pure SPIN. He said exactly what the WH wanted to say.
I didn't dodge the question ... you stated that this Administration did NOTHING right ... I provided you TWO items where the evidence shows that you are wrong. The fact that neither had anything to do with WMD does not change that.
The next thing you know, you'll be calling him "Betrayus" ... since you are so enamored of talking points.
And I don't just listen to the good General to make up my mind ... the milbloggers, Michael Yon ... sheesh, even the freakin' WaPo is backing him up now.
Then you agree that the war rational was based on lies? How then you claim to trust Bush on how well Iraq is, as he already lied once. There have been improvements, but its mostly been done by the Iraqis themselves, not us. We are stilling losing 25-50 troops a month. Do you know why Iraq will ultimately fail? Its because of the failure to create a stable government. The Sunnis and Shiites have 800 years of religious hatred, the only reason these 2 haven't attacked each other is because of us.
Do you think because Patreaus wears a uniform that makes him any less of a tool? Patreaus wasn't Bush first choice he was his ONLY choice because everybody else refused to do it. He was brought in to represent the Bush view not to give an accurate view, the last thing Bush wanted was someone he couldn't control. And the Dog got his bone, as he was recently promoted to lead Central Command. Are you going to tell me thats a coincidence? How do you think Mike Brown became FEMA chair? Loyality to W.
Are you really comparing Iraq to 9-11? be that theory too has been disproven about 1000x already. Do you know why the terrorists attacked us? It had nothing to do with our freedom or liberty, the terrorists don't care how we live. The reason they hate us is because we stick our nose in their business. We support Arab dictators, we support Israel, we attack muslim countries, and we have troops on their holy land, these are the sort of things that piss people off. The CIA calls it Blowback
If it's only about "blowback", then why do they target THEIR OWN PEOPLE with such fervor? Methinks their motivation is more than just being PO'd ... what part of "Caliphate" don't you understand?
And, Iraq didn't need to have ANYTHING to do with 911 in order to still be the SAME KIND of (and even more likely) threat than Afghanistan was re: 911.
As long as some in these lands wish to peacefully interact with us, the thugs have NO RIGHT to stop us from doing so.
Osama himself admitted on video tape that 9-11 was SPECIFICALLY because of our troops in Saudi Arabia, remember he offered a ceasefire if we left? Secondly Iraq is nowhere near as Dangerous as Afghanistan is, as there are multiple ethnic groups in the country. Do you really think Iran and the Shiites are going to let Al-Qaeda simply arrive and take over once we leave? They are the most bitterest of enemies. Al Qeada will find no sanctuary in Iraq, even the Iraq Sunni don't like them.
Frankly it is amazing that, after the burst of the tech bubble, 911, and the influx of illegals, we have only a 5.5% unemployment rate ... which is still almost as low as it has ever been here.
You exaggerate the effect of the war on the economy ... especially when compared to what one day's worth of terrorism did to it.
You'd open the door for more days like that.
I look forward to 20 Jan 2009, when Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney leave their offices WITH HONOR ... and their critics' heads explode.
I bet you believe in conspiracy theories that always seem to be beyond reality ... with black helos and Bildebergers, perhaps?
Our economic downturn has not met the official definition of recession ... two consecutive quarters of negative growth.
And just how did the Prez cause this?
The cost of the war? We have paid about as much for the war as the nation has in "compliance costs" to prove our innocence to the IRS in the same time frame.
I don't believe in conspiracy theories. I just don't find them any more outlandish than you making Bush out to be the hero he most certainly is not.
Why don't you go to Detroit and tell some of these former auto plant workers that the economy is in great shape?
The cost of the war? 4000 soldiers so far, countless disabled vets who will be unemployable, many billions of dollars that could have be spent revitalizing our own nation's economy.
You need new talking points from your "betters" ... the ones you have now are mindless broad-brushings that have been debunked.
Many in my family worked on GM's factory floors for years ... and they'd tell you that Detroit's problems are primarily self-inflicted by the short-sightedness of both Management and UAW ... and that the war has no significant effect upon those problems.
If you think that the gov, if it took that amount of money, could solve these problems, you're fooling yourself.
I was using Detroit, which DID lose jobs before Bush, as a microcosm for the rest of the country. Most industries, except the military of course, are shutting down, laying off, or at best undergoing a hiring freeze. If you go parading around my hometown spouting off "there's no recession", get ready for the men in the white uniforms with the butterfly nets.
If money is not going to improve things in our country, how will it improve things in Iraq?
It's not about a lack of money ... it is all about who has it, and what they are capable of doing with it.
A rights-respecting government, especially federal, is structurally incapable of effectively/efficiently solving most socioeconomic problems ... because it MUST limit itself to one-size-fits-all measures in the name of equality, while the problems are highly individualized ... and would require a level of intrusion upon personal choice that makes the PATRIOT ACT look downright Libertarian.
OTOH, conducting military operations in the defense of this nation is the proper purview of the federal government ... an area where it can leverage our wealth for effective results (though not always as efficient as I'd like to see, even though there are often legit reasons for $150 hammers and $500 toilet seats, despite the conventional wisdom to the contrary).
I used to think that way, until I started working in this area.
Unlike the private sector, a gov. purchasing agent can't "go with his gut" when it comes to selecting/de-selecting suppliers. Tha'll make his office lawyer bait.
That agent must provide the suppliers with specifications for what he's buying ... and to keep suppliers honest (since he can't just arbitrarily de-select them), those specs include extensive testing/inspection requirements that drive up the final cost.
The oft cited "$500 toilet seats" weren't toilet seats like most people are thinking of. Rather they were special covers for toilets on B-52s (or perhaps some other long range aircraft) to keep blue ice from falling on blue states. I don't know the details about the hammers, but I can see a case where there might be something called a "hammer" but be part of a machine, similar to a valve seat in an engine not being something you could ever sit on. That said, a slimy thing to do to pirate a vid.
what do u expect from the demorat mobsters who run michigan?
and why does the rest of the country have to send money to your state...?
clinton tried gutting the military, democrats stifle domestic energy production, the democratic teachers unions and liberal 'educators' (indoctrinators) run our schools, sierra clubs and green econazis drive away new plant building and thousands of jobs...who needs foriegn enemies?
I'd be interested for you to provide a link where David Patreaus said that Iraq actually had had WMDs because He never did. The Senate Intelligence committee just called Bush a liar on this very subject I think you need to check your facts again. The trouble in America isn't Defeatists, its the APOLOGISTS. During the Nixon Admin the GOP crucified a President who dared lied to the country. Today these cowards put politics and party loyalty ahead of the country and because of it US servicemen died
The evidence David Patraeus has is the fact that (1) this war is winnable, and (2) the Iraqi people are pro-victory.
Those are TWO things Bush got right, which flies in the face of your assertions.
WMD was only 1 of 23 justifications for war ... and the Duelfer Report stated that Saddam was ready to restart his mothballed WMD development/acquisition efforts once sanctions were lifted.
You are just as wrong for not anticipating this possibility, as the Administration was about the stockpiles.
You mean the same Senate that has made less progress on its agenda, than the Iraqi Parliament has on theirs? The one whose leader should be named Sen. Warislost?
The problem with America is those who conflate education/expertise/erudition with wisdom, to the point they consider themselves "above" the need to confront those who threaten life and liberty with force.
Their influence persuaded this nation to let this problem get out of hand, until we lost 2,996 in the space of a few hours.
Up till 2005 I believed everything bush said and the media. I went about life thinking everything was ok with our government and nothing to worry bout. Then an american citizen got his rights taken away as an enemy combatant.... Talk about eyes wide open now.
scorpian: welcome back to the light side. Look after yourself, buddy. Cut up your credit cards, pay off your debts, sell your dollars. Buy gold and guns. Trust nobody who calls themselves a 'politician'. Things are gonna get real nasty in the USA from here on in.
...this video makes me sad :( at how stupid people are in this country. Hopefully, Obama can restore decency back to America. Kick these retards back into the SHIT- hole of society in which thier from.
Is your family so in-bred that you believe Any policy is good policy? The reason I know you live in a shit-hole is because you lack any critical thinking skills that would enable you to move up in the world. Thats why your called white-trash and thats why you live in trailor parks along with the people who are stupid enough to agree with you.
you need to do your homework and realize that people who actually are more successfully financially vote Bush. This is fact. In fact, I bet my $85,000 income beats yours.
So because his opinion was different than yours that automatically makes him white-trash? Talk about "open minded"! Not every hick is an inbred, gun-totin', bible readin' republican.
There are precious few babies left, at least not in Iraq! After BushCo's hired thugs got done using them for bayonet practice, the rest have nearly all been used up by the insurgent suicide bombers. Where do you think they each get their 72 virgins from? What ain't already been killed have been raped by those Blackwater pedo-goons. It's pretty sickening what they get up to now they're officially above the law (thanks to David Addington - Bush's personal Shyster-lawyer in Chief).
Learn to be more adult here. I bet you don't even know what the word retard means. I've seen a real retard before. retards couldn't make music like this. the retard I know can hardly talk! this is a serious vid here... take your insults somewhere else liberal!
I'd like to know how The Right Brothers copied We Didn't Start The Fire because it sounds nothing like it!! Go whine to the ACLU if you don't like it, liberal!!

AMEN! liberals are making me mad. they think you soldiers shouldn't be there when you guys clearly agree with president bush on the war subject. Also, thanks for serving this country burduex
Most of the liberals that talk do not know anywhere close to what is the truth. If you are politically aware, chances are you will be a republican. I try not to even pay attention to them anymore.
If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.. If you are politically aware, chances are you are a liberated mind, an open mind, and compassionate ie : not a rebuplican neo con supporter.
That is quite an ignorant assumptions to make when there are probably many other people out there that are just as knowledgable, or probably even more based on your comment.
All politics aside, you rockers could go head to head with Zeppelin, Hendrix, Etc.
It almost seemed like a was watching Keith Moon when I saw your drummer. Those are some conservative Riffs! I could kick myself for buying mindless drivel from bands like Pink Floyd when all I need is The Right Brothers! You provide us with hope that even though crap bands like AC/DC continue to sell records, we will always have you guys to thank for putting the Rock back in the Roll!!!!

Hey goadhatesmyspace Iran wont have to elect him he'll just stay in power no matter what. The guy is a nut he thinks its his mission in life to wipe isreal off the map.
Bush isn't going to get away with starting World War III and these morons aren't going to get away with ripping off We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel... fucking douche bags.
ummm... American invaded iraq and is funding Israel, breaking apart countries. Plus Iran's president proably isn't going to win re-election. If you knew anything about globalazation, you will understand that WW3 isn't going to happen because it would hurt corporate profits.
first things first, iraq attacked america. anyway, I doubt that corporate profits affect war as much as you think. War and violence is based on beleif. Terrorists want us dead. I doubt they check revenue increase in corporations.
Iraq didn't invade America, there is no link with osama and Hussein, bush even admitted it. Terrorists aren't like orcs in Lord of the Rings. They have reasons to hate and Americans give more reasons everyday. Plus it isn't a war if it is against individuals. Please know something before you rant garage. Ignorance is a sad thing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The link between Iraq and terrorists just happen to be that terrorists are in iraq. We invaded iraq ultimately to kill terrorists. Civilian iraqis do not hate America. ONly terrorist insurgency wants us dead, which is why we are there. Im not sure what you mean that its not a war if its against individuals. As far as i know, all wars are against individuals. dont call me ignorant.
goadhatesmyspace, you can exercise your right to shut the fuck up, or pack your shit and move to that new home you were talking about and send a fowarding address to the Air Force so they can take care of that bobming thing for you.
Doctrine; collection of concepts; and dictatorship by government of a country, often involving hostile nationalistic attitudes, racism, and private economic ownership under rigid government control. A fascist regime is often militarily belligerent.
That's right, you dun tell im armydude76! Being for Freedum dun means voting Repubelikan, either vote repubelikan or dun git out of Amurikah! YEE HAW!
To the last comment on the board! Who are the people that support Bush...We the people of the USA that love our Country and our Freedom,,,Try standing up for your Country! If you don't like The USA GET OUT! Find a better place to live...I am staying here to support the President and the troops and the people like the Right Brothers that are telling you to wake up ....Someday you just may wake up to a nuke and you will then say dah! I guess they were Right.
Ever hear of a man name John Locke? The man who basical wrote our Constition. If you don't like a system you follow the rules to change it. I am following the rules by excersing my freedom of speech. If I leave the country, the USA will bomb my new home.

Godhatesmyspace....You may exercise your freedom of speech as much as you want.. And so will I >> And we have that privlidge to do so due to the brave men and women in our service! Which I support.. DO You? I love the USA so I am staying and supporting all that supports the USA...God Bless the USA
Yes I support the troops by not throwing them in front of a train. Do you think anything possitive can come out this war. Violence is rising even more so over the past 16 months. The surge isn't slowing things it is just killing more people in Iraq. May was the third deadlist month. Our military isn't sure who they are fighting anymore. Every war has an end, is this war suppose to be longer than vietnam? Or even have an end for that matter?
YEE HAW DAWGIE! You dun sher is right Trish316, you dun make yur momma/sister proud! Freedum uf speech dun menes suppor da Prezident or dun git out of Amurikah! Yee Haw! Go dun moov to Kuba if ya dun not like freedum! YEE HAW!
On a more intelligent reply, Trish316, why don't you GTFU of America! It's obvious that the rest of the country disagrees with your facist bullshit! That's unless you're probaly 5 and still need some growing up to do. The majority of America is no longer biting on your Seig Heil to GWB rants!
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool fag music what is this a blink 182 copycat on bush???? idiots freakin morons kill urself. THE ENTIRE WORLD HATES USA!!! all die in iraq please
Unfortunately, commandanteagi, the inclusion of the "Atomic Annie," the supposed "atomic" cannon, it was a fake. I was in the service at the time in nuclear weapons and this bit of film was just one of a number of fakes which were used to unsettle the Russians. It worked too well and many people in this country were made even more complacent because they believed that it existed.

songshopeyouth13 3 years ago
Ron Paul ran for president back in 1988. You can thank our corporate media for focusing its attention on only Dukakis and Shrub Sr, thus that's why no one heard of the far superior leadership qualities of Ron Paul.
tymagan 3 years ago
Ron Paul has good things to say ... but his views on foreign policy began sliding into obsolescence with the advent of the 707 and container ship. His isolationist, passive approach to defense is as obsolete as the Maginot Line.
Add to that the annoying "Paulisites" who support him (some simply because he's GOP cover for them) ... and I see why he's not headed to the Oval Office.
By taking the Libertarian slot that might otherwise have been open to Paul, Bob Barr did us all a favor.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
I am one of the "annoying 'Paulisites'" to whom you refer. I feel pride supporting a man who was an honorable flight surgeon (not some Air National Guard flunkie who disappeared for over a year), an obstetrician who brought 4000 lives into the world (Bush killed that many Americans in this war - and our economy), and someone who does not externalize our nation's problems.
tymagan 3 years ago
You mean a "flunkie" with ~ 400 hrs. flight time in a plane that was effective in killing off the terminally stupid? So much for "Bush is dumb ... next you'll tell me that fufilling his NG committment was "fake but accurate"?
And a Man whose actions liberated 50 MILLION PEOPLE from totalitarian brutality ... instead of seeing a good many of them be put into shredders and mass graves as he wallowed in the "principled" INACTION that is the common thread between Dr. Paul and the anti-war left.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
I am no pacifist. I wish I had been born 50 years earlier so I could have fought in WWII. The US should have entered that war long before Pearl Harbor.
I feel sympathy for the Iraqi people, but remember that part of the reason Saddam Hussein became so powerful was because he was supported by the US during Iraq's war with Iran. Ronald Reagen knew full well what kind of monster he was dealing with.
Now these great men and women have to suffer for it.
tymagan 3 years ago
Otherwise-prudent Men like Reagan played the proxy game with Saddam, because critics like you kept telling us that we could NEVER confront a Third World enemy directly. That would be "imperialism", y'know.
BTW, the relationship was a conversation-over-coffee compared to the whore's bed Saddam shared with France and Russia.
Where were YOU, demanding that Reagan drop Saddam in his tracks back then ... and where were YOU protesting when GHW Bush left the Iraqi people to their fate in 1991?
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
I was barely 16 years old in 1989, the year that Reagen passed the torch. Not a whole heck of a lot I could do when the Iran-Iraq war was going on.
And who knows what Bush Sr. was smoking back in 1991?
tymagan 3 years ago
What was smokin' was news coverage of the "Highway of Death", making a legitimate attack look like capricious brutality.
That ... and insistence by the UN and Arab states that we "do not exceed our mandate" ... led GHWB to stop at 100 hours, instead of decisively defeating Saddam.
This was done after we encouraged Iraqis to rebel. 30,000 lost their lives as a result.
Just like today ... the Left and the media influenced our leaders to foment INACTION, when decisive action was called for.

Go to Google, type in:
"Mudville Gazette" milblogs
Hit "I'm Feeling Lucky"(I'd post a link, but YouTube won't let me.)
Read what some of those great Men and Women have to say ... including at least one author there (Chuck Z.) who was seriously wounded in Iraq.
He and others work to get laptops with voice-recognition software to wounded vets who can't type as a result of their injuries.
The site founder has himself done 2 Iraq tours.
None would agree with your view.
All are pro-victory.

I respect what they are doing for their fellow veterans. If they believe in what they are doing in Iraq, then God bless them. They deserve much better for a commander in chief.
I am tired right now. We'll work more on this conversation tomorrow.
Good night.

Conservatives,
Listen to the lyrics of the song, of how "right" Bush was.
The fact remains: They were right, you were WRONG.
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
Dave Petraeus would disagree with you, mmarsh ... and he's got evidence to back him up.
AQI is now a pariah, and JAM is fast becoming one.
OTOH, our Men and Women are now being referred to in Iraq as "tribe al-Ameriki", a title of TRUST.
Had we listened to your fellow-travelers in defeatism, Iraq would now be an industrial-strength Afghanistan 2.0.
You spout 20th-century conventional wisdom.
Not the facts ... it's the Leftist supposition of intellectual superiority that needs swallowing.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
If you think this war is so great, why aren't you over there?
tymagan 3 years ago
You have a choice ...
... either keep ol' RitchieTheRiveter (note the name) here to design and build some of the technology that our warfighters use to keep themselves and the innocent safe, in part by enabling them to kill ONLY the enemy ...
... or I go over there, and (because of my age and health) probably become the star of an AQI snuff video -- and Men are put at risk to find me.
So tell me, how would YOU choose to assign me, in support of the troops?
Your answer will speak volumes.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
Ritchie
You dodged the question, I asked you where exactly did Patreaus claim that Saddam had WMD? Patreaus is hardly a unbias source either. Patreaus was appointed directly by Bush (because they couldn't find anybody else) to be the WH uniformed water-boy, his report was written by the WH. Do you really think he'd going to get up on National TV and give a honest assessment? This is Bush WH, they can't even spell the word 'honest'. It was pure SPIN. He said exactly what the WH wanted to say.
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
I didn't dodge the question ... you stated that this Administration did NOTHING right ... I provided you TWO items where the evidence shows that you are wrong. The fact that neither had anything to do with WMD does not change that.
The next thing you know, you'll be calling him "Betrayus" ... since you are so enamored of talking points.
And I don't just listen to the good General to make up my mind ... the milbloggers, Michael Yon ... sheesh, even the freakin' WaPo is backing him up now.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
Then you agree that the war rational was based on lies? How then you claim to trust Bush on how well Iraq is, as he already lied once. There have been improvements, but its mostly been done by the Iraqis themselves, not us. We are stilling losing 25-50 troops a month. Do you know why Iraq will ultimately fail? Its because of the failure to create a stable government. The Sunnis and Shiites have 800 years of religious hatred, the only reason these 2 haven't attacked each other is because of us.
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
Do you think because Patreaus wears a uniform that makes him any less of a tool? Patreaus wasn't Bush first choice he was his ONLY choice because everybody else refused to do it. He was brought in to represent the Bush view not to give an accurate view, the last thing Bush wanted was someone he couldn't control. And the Dog got his bone, as he was recently promoted to lead Central Command. Are you going to tell me thats a coincidence? How do you think Mike Brown became FEMA chair? Loyality to W.
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
Ritchie
Are you really comparing Iraq to 9-11? be that theory too has been disproven about 1000x already. Do you know why the terrorists attacked us? It had nothing to do with our freedom or liberty, the terrorists don't care how we live. The reason they hate us is because we stick our nose in their business. We support Arab dictators, we support Israel, we attack muslim countries, and we have troops on their holy land, these are the sort of things that piss people off. The CIA calls it Blowback
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
If it's only about "blowback", then why do they target THEIR OWN PEOPLE with such fervor? Methinks their motivation is more than just being PO'd ... what part of "Caliphate" don't you understand?
And, Iraq didn't need to have ANYTHING to do with 911 in order to still be the SAME KIND of (and even more likely) threat than Afghanistan was re: 911.
As long as some in these lands wish to peacefully interact with us, the thugs have NO RIGHT to stop us from doing so.
Ditch the talking points.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
Ritchie
Osama himself admitted on video tape that 9-11 was SPECIFICALLY because of our troops in Saudi Arabia, remember he offered a ceasefire if we left? Secondly Iraq is nowhere near as Dangerous as Afghanistan is, as there are multiple ethnic groups in the country. Do you really think Iran and the Shiites are going to let Al-Qaeda simply arrive and take over once we leave? They are the most bitterest of enemies. Al Qeada will find no sanctuary in Iraq, even the Iraq Sunni don't like them.
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
Legally, you are too old to go over to Iraq and support the war in the way that you and every one else who supports this war should.
But consider yourself fortunate that you have a job.
Thanks to this war and all the focus being placed on an OIL rich nation, many Americans have lost their jobs and are unable to find another.
Impeach Bush and Chaney.
And imprison The Right Brothers for their musical crimes against humanity.
tymagan 3 years ago
Frankly it is amazing that, after the burst of the tech bubble, 911, and the influx of illegals, we have only a 5.5% unemployment rate ... which is still almost as low as it has ever been here.
You exaggerate the effect of the war on the economy ... especially when compared to what one day's worth of terrorism did to it.
You'd open the door for more days like that.
I look forward to 20 Jan 2009, when Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney leave their offices WITH HONOR ... and their critics' heads explode.

I bet you also believe there is no recession. It's high time for people like you to click your ruby red slippers together.
tymagan 3 years ago
I bet you believe in conspiracy theories that always seem to be beyond reality ... with black helos and Bildebergers, perhaps?
Our economic downturn has not met the official definition of recession ... two consecutive quarters of negative growth.
And just how did the Prez cause this?
The cost of the war? We have paid about as much for the war as the nation has in "compliance costs" to prove our innocence to the IRS in the same time frame.
Concerned about this cost? Fair Tax anyone?
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
I don't believe in conspiracy theories. I just don't find them any more outlandish than you making Bush out to be the hero he most certainly is not.
Why don't you go to Detroit and tell some of these former auto plant workers that the economy is in great shape?
The cost of the war? 4000 soldiers so far, countless disabled vets who will be unemployable, many billions of dollars that could have be spent revitalizing our own nation's economy.
tymagan 3 years ago
You need new talking points from your "betters" ... the ones you have now are mindless broad-brushings that have been debunked.
Many in my family worked on GM's factory floors for years ... and they'd tell you that Detroit's problems are primarily self-inflicted by the short-sightedness of both Management and UAW ... and that the war has no significant effect upon those problems.
If you think that the gov, if it took that amount of money, could solve these problems, you're fooling yourself.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
I was using Detroit, which DID lose jobs before Bush, as a microcosm for the rest of the country. Most industries, except the military of course, are shutting down, laying off, or at best undergoing a hiring freeze. If you go parading around my hometown spouting off "there's no recession", get ready for the men in the white uniforms with the butterfly nets.
If money is not going to improve things in our country, how will it improve things in Iraq?
tymagan 3 years ago
It's not about a lack of money ... it is all about who has it, and what they are capable of doing with it.
A rights-respecting government, especially federal, is structurally incapable of effectively/efficiently solving most socioeconomic problems ... because it MUST limit itself to one-size-fits-all measures in the name of equality, while the problems are highly individualized ... and would require a level of intrusion upon personal choice that makes the PATRIOT ACT look downright Libertarian.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
OTOH, conducting military operations in the defense of this nation is the proper purview of the federal government ... an area where it can leverage our wealth for effective results (though not always as efficient as I'd like to see, even though there are often legit reasons for $150 hammers and $500 toilet seats, despite the conventional wisdom to the contrary).
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
There is never a legit reason to buy $150 hammers and $500 toilet seats, the government would be saving a ton of money by shopping at Wal-Mart.
tymagan 3 years ago
I used to think that way, until I started working in this area.
Unlike the private sector, a gov. purchasing agent can't "go with his gut" when it comes to selecting/de-selecting suppliers. Tha'll make his office lawyer bait.
That agent must provide the suppliers with specifications for what he's buying ... and to keep suppliers honest (since he can't just arbitrarily de-select them), those specs include extensive testing/inspection requirements that drive up the final cost.
Never say never.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
The oft cited "$500 toilet seats" weren't toilet seats like most people are thinking of. Rather they were special covers for toilets on B-52s (or perhaps some other long range aircraft) to keep blue ice from falling on blue states. I don't know the details about the hammers, but I can see a case where there might be something called a "hammer" but be part of a machine, similar to a valve seat in an engine not being something you could ever sit on. That said, a slimy thing to do to pirate a vid.

Today these cowards put politics and party loyalty ahead of the country and because of it US servicemen died
mmarsh1972 3 years ago
The evidence David Patraeus has is the fact that (1) this war is winnable, and (2) the Iraqi people are pro-victory.
Those are TWO things Bush got right, which flies in the face of your assertions.
WMD was only 1 of 23 justifications for war ... and the Duelfer Report stated that Saddam was ready to restart his mothballed WMD development/acquisition efforts once sanctions were lifted.
You are just as wrong for not anticipating this possibility, as the Administration was about the stockpiles.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
You mean the same Senate that has made less progress on its agenda, than the Iraqi Parliament has on theirs? The one whose leader should be named Sen. Warislost?
The problem with America is those who conflate education/expertise/erudition with wisdom, to the point they consider themselves "above" the need to confront those who threaten life and liberty with force.
Their influence persuaded this nation to let this problem get out of hand, until we lost 2,996 in the space of a few hours.
RitchietheRiveter 3 years ago
Up till 2005 I believed everything bush said and the media. I went about life thinking everything was ok with our government and nothing to worry bout. Then an american citizen got his rights taken away as an enemy combatant.... Talk about eyes wide open now.

I was in the service at the time in nuclear weapons and this bit of film was just one of a number of fakes which were used to unsettle the Russians. It worked too well and many people in this country were made even more complacent because they believed that it existed.
