  • This is cute :)

  • I love this segment because they really had fun with it. And Ben Ali Gator is da man.

  • aren't those beautiful male dancing ostriches?

  • 5:01 EXTREME CLOSE UP!

  • 1:44 hehe..nice save there ;)

  • I love Hyacinth, she rocks it.

  • Stupefacente! Troppo bello!!

  • So much more elegant than human ballet dancers! I want ostriches to be seen on stage dancing like that! =D

  • @shairaptor ok humans are more elegant ballet dancers than hippos alright! =D

  • I had a stuffed animal hippo from this movie. I slept with it till i was like 8, then i lost it :(

  • that yellow skirted hippo chick is me

  • @intoxicbella That's a fine thing to be, if you're Hyacinth, that means you're talented and handsome princely types fawn over you :)

  • Why are all the ostriches boys, but dancing en pointe? Silly Disney. :)

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha... I think one of the animators for Fantasia was a furry. The lovely feminine hippos, and the ostriches, and there was even the Tchaikovsky scene with the beautiful sultry goldfish. They look more alluring than ridiculous to me... XD To each their own.

  • I used to do Ballet, but I tore my achilles tendon and I actually do look like the hippo now :)

  • Someone's probably already said this, but it's kinda funny that the black and white ostriches in real life are actually males. Females never have that coloring. :) Meh, this is why I love cartoons, you don't have to follow the rules to make something awesome!

  • @Animegurl919 OMG! They're sexy traps! XD

  • @3:24.. that's exactly the way I dry myself off in the morning

  • I hated that pink Ostrich.... always reminded me a teacher of mine when I was small... even now still now I hold resentment to her, I can just feel the arrogance coming from her. Bitch.

  • I remember going to Disneyland when I was about 9, back when you could still walk through the Sleeping Beauty Castle, and the gift shop underneath had rows and rows of the stuffed ballet ostriches....and I kid you not, they had them bent in half of the display table so that their ostrich legs were sticking up in the air. @__@ I would assume that this made it easier to display the differently-colored ballet slippers, but it just looked wrong.

  • I wish my hippo was as graceful as this one!!!

  • 1940 is it REALLY that old my goodness. I grew up on this movie

  • ......Did I dream Titopotamus?

  • this is my favorite one. Man i haven't seen it in so long it brings back memories

  • For Carleigh, Katie, Ginny, Dana, Alex, Cara and all the other dancers on my friends list...

  • This is (IMO) the best portion of Fantaisa. It's utterly brilliant! Unfortunately, so much of it is tripe, but The Nutcracker Suite, Sorcerer's Apprentice, this, and The Night on Bald Mountain make it all worth while.

  • So this is why I grew up to be a furry lol, gods I love classic Disney.

  • Dance of the Hours - The Ultimate Furry Ballet!

  • This segment of fantasia is so cute and funny xD

  • 2:43 is sooo cute

  • These Are The Names Of The Leaders Of TheTime Of Day

    Morning: Madame Upanova

    Afternoon: Hyacinth Hippo

    Evening: Elephanchine

    Night: Ben Ail Gator

  • THAT'S SO COOL! I never really understood the "Dance of the Hour" thing..now I get it :D

  • What is the name of this music? The melody reminds me of another song.

  • Dude, look at the title, it's called the Dance of the Hours!

Although, somebody once made a song set to this melody called "Camp Grenadda" (or however it's spelled)

That might be what you're thinking of.

  • ...oh. Well now I feel stupid. Thanks for educating a fellow.

And yes, you were right. I was apparently thinking of the Swedish translation of "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (A Letter from Camp)"

  • @BluTaiger Take me home, o mudda, fadda, Take me home, don't like this Camp Grenada...

sung by Shelly Behrman, was it? Mid 1960's.

  • @TheRebasMom

It was Allan Sherman who did "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" in 1962.

  • @rmar67

um, they rhyme. Thanks for updating my data store. Loved that song: a whale in a bikini, etc.

  • @BluTaiger oh you mean Alan Sherman's Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah!!

  • la danse des heures extrait de la gioconda de amilcare poncchielli

  • It's "Danza di Orologio"(Dance of Hours), by Italian composer Ponchinelli from his opera "La Gioconda"

    Philadephia Orchestra

    Conductor: Leopold Stokowski

  • @vuk1973july by the way it's "Danza delle ore" in italian!!! ;D I know...I'm italian ;D

  • @Zeedox

It should, because it's one of the most famous ballet-songs ever. The Nutcracker by Tcharcovsky. So you got to have heard it hundreds of times if not more when you have watched TV or as background for films.

  • @Beaviz81 See my earlier response. Though I do not doubt what you say is true as well!

  • I love Fantasia 2000

  • Ahem; Let's keep the comments to G rating, shall we?

  • from 2:00-2:30 that's Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah Allan Shermen

  • Madame Upanova "nooo leave my grapes alone!"

  • The dancers of the morning are represented by Madame Upanova and her ostriches. The dancers of the daytime are represented by Hyacinth Hippo and her servants. The dancers of the evening are represented by Elephanchine and her bubble-blowing elephant troupe. The dancers of the night are represented by Ben Ali Gator and his troop of alligators.

  • @lbaynes88

what great names! How did you find that out?

  • @TheRebasMom I honestly cannot remember I think a mate of mine told me and he went to a show or something about this and it was in the programme. I think. lol. But yes I agree the names are wondeful

  • I LOVE the ostrich part! (L)

  • The best way to watch this movie is on acid.

  • I have to say that the animation is just amazing even if it was made 1940 & this was 3 years after Disney released Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs.

BTW The principle dancers in this segment (which I can only name 2 of them) are Hyacinth Hippo & Ben Ali Gator. I can't name the rest unfortunately.
