  • omg poor todd! if it was me, i dont know if i could ever return to the same place without having a paper bag over my head!

  • oh how i miss Indonesia :(

  • @niamh2739 they're not that really hard on todd, if i am the one who done that (i am indonesia) it would be just the same, i have to clean it and i have to pay it LOL....

  • Wow they where really hard on todd! I mean it was an accident. AB is kind of a schmuck to people he works with. What Indonesians do have accidents ever? If that had happened to anyone else it wouldnt have been as bad.

  • Great country, but let's remember that it's a country with a society that enjoys the pain and death of innocent Christians.

  • @BayAreaOrBust thats just so untrue and biased, here we're free to express any religion for a little example my father is a christian and my mother is a muslim, they married, boned, and here i am living a full life with a bro. but like other places too, there are always extremists that ruins it for everybody, theyre hated by most of the population anyways. dont judge a nation with a horrifying thing like that without even a hint of knowledge of what its really like, makes u look foolish lol

  • He cant go for five minutes without mentioning USA

  • Wouldn't this ram fighting be intolerable in Islam? It reminds me too much of dog fighting or any other gory, violent animal fighting competition.. Sure animals fight in nature but not in this perverse way..

  • @MissTB91 I don't support animal fighting at all but it doesn't seem like these guys are getting hurt at all.

  • I'd like to visit Indonesia some day.

  • i agree. fish head is the besttt. I don't get people who don't eat it.

  • @lumpymallows My grandma says it makes you more smart. Maybe more omega etc..dont know too lazy to find out lol :D

  • Judging by the Gamelan music during the ram fight, I'd guess Anthony Bourdain was among Sundanese people.

  • i like when he was saying "nasi goreng"

  • On page 5 and 6 you will see a person name Lisa... She is scum if you look at her page it has videos of the German reich goosestepping when they were invading countries and killing people.

  • volcani

  • I love the sounds of bugs here in Bandung, even if this is a big city, nights are always peaceful to sleep

  • Yeah, I love Rendang...

  • i love anthony style, and the fact that he came to my country and eat the local delicious foods just make me even love him more. I am a guy and straight btw ... come to indonesia again anthony! and for all of you who never been to Indonesia should come at least once in your life. My country offers you friendliness, sincere smiles, warm hearts, yummy foods, beautiful views and rich cultures..

  • F*ing TODD

  • THE FOOD

    IT LOOKS SOOO GOOODDD *drools*

  • nice episode, tony should come back to the Philippines...the episode done here in the Philippines was ok..but mr. bourdain have not seen the best of filipino cuisine, traditions.

  • eating with the hands isn't just a in indonesian concept it is a Islamic one most if not all muslims do that whether thier from west africa, middle east , southeast asia, or even in the western world. other than that this is a great episode.

  • @Rbigray1 it's not "Islamic" exactly. I mean, it's not something that Islam encourages, its just something the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to do so I guess it became a tradition for Muslims who adopted his behaviour and passed it down. (I'm not trying to belittle you in anyway I'm just enjoying the video of this beautiful country just like you. it's just an explanation of what you said.).

  • @tasneefm No prob. And yes you are right its not something that is in the Qu'ran but rather is something that is found in the Hadith. I was just trying to emphisize to those who may not be muslims that this is a way that muslims the world over eat. I'm from the United States and I eat this way myself. It's pretty cool though to see how far the Islamic world extends and how different peoples share the same common Islamic principles. Salam Brother

  • @Rbigray1 MashaAllah. Me too brother. Wa alaykumus salaam.

  • @Rbigray1 I learned it from a Tamil yogi, who said that prana goes into food from the right hand.

  • Comment removed

  • @howtoplanaparty I agree people from all over the east eat like this... I was only correcting the video that said it was a Indonesian concept when Indonesia as a muslim country would eat the same way that muslims the world over would eat including those of us in the U.S. That was what I was trying to explain but I just worded it badly.

  • I like to go and just look at the trees.

  • that young indonesian chick taking tony around wants to fuck him, i can tell

  • @beswick1111 i heard she suct his dick

  • 8:14 nice dance anthony :D

  • yeah anthony getting the ladies !!!

  • :( I wish that kid did not smoke...damn, I want a cigarette now.

  • The food looks so good I want to cry

  • Mr Bourdain ... i really enjoy your show and writing

  • are there any Indonesians here that can help me live in Indonesia? Im an American Muslim living in Egypt with my wife and we want to move to Indonesia insha'Allah.

  • Yaaay Indonesia is a food heaven!! People, let's just forgive poor Todd's li'l incident., and don't talk shitty about religions. This is a nice vid and Tony did a great job. We should all come to Indonesia, enjoying vacation and eat and eat and eat again..

  • Man... I feel so bad for Todd. Poor guy must have felt immensely guilty.

  • this is one of the best episodes lol

  • Noam Chomsky said "For those who stubbornly seek freedom, there can be no more urgent task than to come to understand the mechanisms and practices of indoctrination. These are easy to perceive in the totalitarian societies, much less so in the system of 'brainwashing under freedom' to which we are subjected and which all too often we serve as willing or unwitting instruments." We are brought up to believe certain things. Thus we are set from the begining to prejudge.

  • Everyone should listen to Anthony Bourdain. He says that "food can be a gateway to a whole new culture and a whole new life." We all should take some time to look past all misconceptions of other cultures. I always embrace other cultures with an open heart. Its feels good not to hate. Hatred directed at others is self destroying. Many people I know, have spent years hating others. Its sad. So sit back and enjoy what others have to offer and in return give a little of your culture.

  • this lisa person is a giant pedo.

  • cant we all just get along. I am Catholic and I respect other religions. Muslims are cool people. They are not all bad. You can find bad people in every religion and culture. Much love to Indonesia from a Nicaraguan American.

  • @johneverready unfortunately, the biological makeup of christians comes with an extra human sense called paternalism.

  • @Lisa1488 I'm sorry rude sir, but you should never insult someones religion because I could find a million ways to insult yours (have you heard of the crusades or all other countless wars caused by Christianity) again I don't want to insult religion and although I am irreligious I have a better moral sense than you.

  • @Lisa1488

    stfu you brainless nazi bitch

  • @Lisa1488 christianity and other religions also engage in the same brainwashing techniques. How many children are actually allowed to choose their religion, and how many of them are indoctrinated into one by their parents and culture? Your religion is as guilty as Islam is.

  • @what567

Lisa1488 is a Neonazi, best ignore her

  • @Lisa1488 please stop bashing other people's religion if you don't know shit about it. and trust me, you don't

  • @Lisa1488 Allahu Ackbar means "god is great". You say the same exact thing (or type of thing), except in a different language. Apparently saying "god is great" in Arabic is ignorant, while saying it in English (or Dutch or French), is not. Second, Allahu Ackbar is used in prayer, the same way any christian expression of reverence is, and by equating all Muslims with terrorism, you are revealing yourself to be the true ignoramus.

Either reject all praises of god, or you are a hypocrite.

  • @Lisa1488 just as ignorant as any christian yelling god is great or praise jesus.

  • I'm in Indonesia now and I like Bourdain's take on things. Humorous and quite refreshing!

  • poor todd......

    he is a nice guy......

  • thumb up for the blue shirt woman :p

  • Man I love indonesia. It's so cool how they portray it on this show and makes it look even better. I've been there a few times and it's worth going to. There is always something new to see, eat and do.

  • Tony fails at cameraman-ing. lololol

    Way to go, dude.

  • Im proud to be indonesian..!! love this country so much..!!

  • yeah i love his show especially this episode

  • I love his show, it's so amazing

  • Those ignorant out there who argued 'why would you put those plates in a pyramid?'. It's been like that ages ago even before i was born, and i HAVE NOT seen those plates crashing down before in my own entire life. AND nobody asks for that incident to happen.

Anyway, that Tony guy was asked by the production crew themselves to clean those mess he made NOT the owner.

  • this is the last time were gonna see todd

    he was fired afterward

  • uhm...no

  • That clumsy ox of a camera man is always breaking something...hahaha.

  • lol tony, that's not fried rice..

    we called it nasi uduk..^^

  • @instantl0ver I'm afraid it's the Nasi Kuning (Yellow Rice) we're talking here.. If I'm not mistaken, it kinda share similar making process with the Nasi Uduk, but they add 1 particular ingredient in it which is Kunyit (Curcuma sp.) that gives its distinctive yellowish color.

  • Some of you really make a big fuss over a "small accident" did by Todd. They only need to pay about 100 bucks, and of course Todd was just pretending to help cleaning the windows, just for the sake of entertainment.

  • lol nice dancin tony

  • lol at their face hahha

it's ok, the whole food might cost less than people think

What I love about Indonesia is food everywhere and they're chep

  • I like that 'crashing' scene! Haha!

  • @pinangjawa A substantial amount of his wage goes into reimbursing the broken plates and dorpped food.

  • poor todd.! mustve felt pretty bad afterward..i wuldve..!

  • aw poor tod. he must have been mortified haha.

  • Gah I miss padang food also D:

  • hahaaha poor todd! :)) the indonesia the people are very polite though! didnt say anything... in russia he would have been killed LOOL

  • Poor Todd. But then again, he did spill those Padang food. I wish I'm back to Indonesia now...

  • i know what you guys feel. i am from padang also. here in melbourne you just cannot get the real taste of padang food. even in jakarta.

  • Those rams are cute! I want one!

  • What the hell is wrong with you calling obama monkey? Gee.... you do have a problem.

  • nice drama with the crash .. never happened during my visits in Indonesia.. ;) however it must be planned for the show ;) *LOL* !

  • Yeah, it was. They stacked the plates on purpose and bang! :D

  • LOL

  • my parents are Padang origins.. but here in Holland Indonesian food is dominated by javanese food which is too sweet

and it sucks can't find any Padang food in Holland cause it's heavenly tasty and spicy !!

  • LOL! I love this show....

  • Me too imiss Padang food.

  • dAmN todd i like ur natural disaster talent keep it up man!!!!!! you freak them out specially your producer paying for the mess you made !!!! hahah

  • sshhh!! wtv, i wanna go there

  • @DuchessJulia

They didn't mock, they did get mad (slightly), but they didn't hate on him relentlessly.

  • Well, the Indonesians probably weren't that surprised. No one really expects better of Americans these days.

  • that tod guy had a bad day. lol @ tony "and then steps in to do probably what he should have been doing for the last 20 years". Oh man that was mean.

  • CHIDO PAIS

  • OMG! Yum! I miss Padang! I miss everything about Indonesia! Esp. Jakarta.

does anybody know the title of the song sung by a little girl way back 1995, "hey indonesia ku ana nemu yak yak ma mu.." something like that haha.

  • God I love this episode XD

  • hahaha omg i love the shot of tony sipping from his straw as you hear all of those plates fall down. classic.

  • as bad as that looks there lucky that there currency is worth 10x more than indonesia (exaggerating)

  • People thought indonesia was like a jungle with native people but actually it was not!!!Im glad to be indonesian

  • Comment removed

  • @KevinR3i And People thought that we Native Indigenous peoples of Canada, USA, and Mexico (North America) either been killed off or don't exist anymore. Unfortunately for those who don't know of our existence, we are here, and we will always be here. If not then "Indigenous peoples of the Americas" should help people see us :P

  • @lexpaabalo I'm from Quebec, and I know that there are natives here... everybody does... Though maybe the people outside of america don,t know...

  • @KevinR3i I never thought that...

  • I don't want to sound incensitive

but as much as I adore Tony, I don't think it was right for him to mock the camera guy.

The fact that he has to navigate through these tiny places with all that equipment, would make this accident predictable in certain cases.

Also, setting up plates in a pyramid, well, they're asking for it. Especially if its all the food you got, why set it up like that to begin with?

  • I've been working in the serving industry for a long time in many places, and you never let a client or a guest clean it up themselves. An accident is an accident, he obviously showed remorse and shouldn't have had to pay for it himself, the production should have, they put him there to begin with.

  • @DuchessJulia it's just an act, the producers grab anything unusual to make a different show.

  • @DuchessJulia dude, some street store in indonesia is not the *seving industry* you are used to...

  • @schmendriks I'm not sure what you're getting at guy, but what she says is true. It was an accident and they can happen anywhere. I've been to indonesia before and a "street store" has nothing to do with the serving industry. He didn't mean to knock it over and it should have been paid for by the show, not him. Tony likes to crack jokes and he just let loose on him is all. I love this show, always very interesting.

  • @schmendriks What do you know about the serving industry I am used to??

  • @DuchessJulia haha I seriously think that it was just an act. He probably helped cleaning up the place but it's not like they asked him to stay and work for the store. To work for the store u have to be able to carry 10-20 different kinds of gravy dishes without a tray. Honestly, you're being unfair. Why cant we have a pyramid of dishes? It's the essence of padang resto, and most of the time it never fall, so it's not anyone's fault, really. Sorry, but I dont get your sentiment here.

  • Oh really? when was the last time you serve in an Indonesian restaurant? A Padang restaurant? It's called culture. Westerners aren't the only one who has it, y'see.

And boohoo @ him having to pay it. He should NOT be in the serving area to begin with. And besides, $500 would be more than enough to cover the cost. A portion of meal there with meat and chicken would cost less than US$ ONE. That's right, ONE dollar. So kindly study the cultures of countries involved before chiding it.

  • And btw, if the cameraman wasn't there to begin with, you wouldn't be benifiting your cultured mind with this episode cuz there wouldn't be one. He seemed very eager to compensate and clean it up, but my whole point was the fact that they mocked him through it and hated on him. I don't care what culture your from, that's just ill-hearted and mean.

Nxt time, read more closely into what I'm saying, wether im a westerner or not, has nothing to do with what im saying

  • Who mocked him? You only heard one side of the commentaries, bourdain's - saying they mocked him. We're too much of a cultured people to mock others' plight in public. All I see in there are people eating and NOT saying anything about the broken dishes. Maybe you should watch it again.

I did read, unfortunately, and I see YOU mocking my country's culture. Oh, gee, I guess I should apologize to the cameraman for ignoring rules in his destination place - the pantry - for the sake of promoting..

  • Who said anything about culture? It's just common sense and physics. I wasn't out to insult all Indonesian culture, sheesh.

  • ..his producer's show. Sorry, I don't recall our dept. of culture *inviting* bourdain to promote us. At all.

All the dramu for a friggin' cooking show. Maybe you should reassess your own remarks and think of what YOU would say had the situation been reversed.

  • Wow, that sounds pretty unappreciative.

This is dramatic to you? Take an altoid and a deep breath. I'm simply stating my opinion, as you have a right to yours.

If you would have read more closely, I had mentioned that I had been in the restaurant industry for a very long time and I have always treated guests/clients with the respect they strongly deserve. You also take logical precautions, as to avoid accidents.

  • Wow, it is. 'Specially if such facade gave wrong impressions to such as you.

No altoid nor pepto needed, I also have the rights to defend my country's culture. And for your info, they *did* take a precaution - the pantry area's FENCED OFF for visitors & guests. Hence him being there is NON-RIGHTFULLY SO. It has nothing to do with respect to guests/visitors - especially ones who do NOT respect the restaurant's rules to begin with.

BTW, I have 6 restos. Kindly never visit it. Nor my country. =)

  • LMAO

    your nuts

  • @DuchessJulia I agree with you that Tony was a bit too much. Yet you can not blame the pyramid structure of the plates or the people who own the restaurant for the incident. That structure is a specific and unique characteristic of Padang restaurant. Well excuse us if it was not a practical arrangement! But they have done it like that and have not change it because of its characteristic value. Also, I happened to find it appealing and unique. I bet others who had seen it will agree with me.

  • @DuchessJulia it's calld decoration, ma'am. that's how they decorate the plates filld with food in a Padang restaurant anywhere in Indonesia. not all restaurant, just Padang restaurant. And for one they decorate it that way to give a unique, culture based representation of the Padang food, not to be tipped or bumped on accident, lol. With that pyramid structure the camera dude should now better and just stay away from it, and if he needs to take shots of it why dont he jst use the zoom feature?

  • @JadeyJoestar hey, shit happens. Accidents are accidents. Everyone should just chill out ;)

  • hahaha, disuruh ganti ga tuh makanannya ya ?

    hwahahahaha

    jail bgt cameramen nya.

  • LOL i can't believe the amount of food wasted from that! oh mannn~

  • jackass- u have no fckn clue. Indon have their own writing manuscript is called sanskrit similar to Indian. Go j.o. Retard

  • @IHyRaXI Actually, that might be true for most of the Indonesian languages and the national Indonesian language. But I believe that there are old Javanese script whose origin might come from southern India. So, it is not just Latin alphabets. Though it still sucks because there is extremely very few who understand it or willing to learn it.

  • we r not terrified by those american ape-like behaviour, i know u were curious...don't worry mate.

im indonesian i also done it once few years back...

    cheers!

  • Don't worry we'll be mbeeek'.....

    LOL...

  • what I want to put stress and underline here is

Indonesia has LARGEST MUSLIM population in the world but Indonesia IS NOT AN ISLAMIC REPUBLIC.

Religions that are recognized (not disputed as national religion) in Indonesia are:

    1. Islam

    2. Protestant

    3. (Roman) Catholic

    4. Buddhism

    5. Hinduism, and one recently recognized

    6. Confucianism (Kong HuCu)

so it's not all about islam...

  • i know why the cameraman mess the plates...

he tried to take a plate in the middle of the tower

    no doubt that it collapsed

    what a clumsy cameraman...

  • hahaha...

    LOL

    for the cameraman

    jail banget y....

    piringnya pada pecah

    what happened to the cameraman??

  • LOL LOL

Its potentialy be an international incident ..

a public humiliation of mammoth proportion..

  • lmao cameraman almost got them killed :D lol

  • Does Garut still look like that? damn I miss those view.

  • probably you're just superjealous man..

  • putang all filipino pigs

  • ohh i love that brain curry

  • He said Nasi garang, ahhahaha, but fried rice is sure good eh :)

  • I luv brain!

  • "maybe you'll push a little kid down a flight of stairs later..."

  • ...and then the proctologist says, "Rectum? Nearly killed him!"

  • lol :D

  • anybody knows which place in east java is he going to at 4.00?

  • That's not in East Java, but still in West Java. The place called Garut, around 300 km southeast of Jakarta (open your googleearth).

  • Garut is close to Mount Papandayan, isn't it? Is it possible to drive to near the Puntang peak of that mountain or to access it at all?

  • Yes, it is possible to drive near Papandayan, but not with your sedan :-) For more info, you can contact javalavaindonesia at the multiply. They have experience for such trips.

  • Tony here only saw some like 10% of the real Indonesia...the rest still kept as mistery..hwhw

  • come again to Indonesia next time!

  • wow lol todd fucked up haha

  • lol, Bourdain dancing in some of these episodes is utterly hilarious.

  • Good job

    -Thanks come to Indonesia-

  • "i am no way responsible for this child smoking" hahaha

  • GUDANG GARAM my favorite.
