I wouldn't advise anyone to worry about Nuclear War yet (tho it is real). The game is another mirror universe and some of it is strategically unsound.

Launching a tactical nuke on your own soil to stop massive hordes of soviet army? Only if guided missiles never been invented. Not to mention air-warfare which advance THAT much since the 80s. And UAVs ? up the stakes.

@gunfireeverywhere This doesn't replace the ending. The Soveit Assault missions play along side the normal missions. This is just the end of the Soviet Assault missions.

Well, Europeans tend to make games in American or English because America's the leader of NATO, and most of Europe is in NATO, and Russia almost NEVER uses the American or English language, so obviously they won't sell their games in the US.

As such, the story writers and designers will have grown up with that style of writing, and the knowledge of living there. As such, they may add references into the story that would only be relevant to someone who is actually from that country, which certainly contributes to worse foreign sales. The exception is when games are made with a foreign market in mind during creation.

yes you are right! there is no answer who won W.W. III. it still could be both: NATO with U.S. or Soviet Union with China. So i think that story will be (and should) continue in WIC2.

It is dramatic in-game story where an invasion force was too big too handle. Otherwise there wouldn't be enough sane minds to launch a nuke on their own soil.

@deestilo Technically, the Americans nuked themselves... Besides, it was merely a tactical nuke. That's no reason to go starting a thermo-nuclear war. Also, the Soviets believe the Americans have an SDI, so they wouldn't attempt to launch a nuke anyway.

They monitored everything.

ballistic missiles were, currently are and will always be monitored thru each preparation phase.

Even if 1 US missile silo was opened for 5 minutes just to dust out the dirt under the canopy or Russian silos decided to pump / reheat the rocket fuel .... each one of them is showing heat built-up visible through space.

The nightmare ? 6 minutes flightime to kill each other. Not much time to call each other and start yelling.

Any close call ever ? YES.

@deestilo if you played the game, since we nuked our OWN city, the soviets have no reason for a nuclear strike against america. in the diplomatic talk (mentioned in game) the soviets don't strike with nukes because they know we nuked our own country in defense.
