Haha, well REM and Oasis are two of my favourite bands, but back then, it was hard to like the Gallaghers, even Noel. Liam's loosened up a bit in interviews and is just completely bizzare while Noel comes across as a really decent down to earth guy. Mind you, they were high on drugs at the time of this interview. No denying Noel's amazing talent though, really nice voice he has too, so glad he's gone solo.

Michael Stipe was born in Georgia but grew up in Illinois, Peter Buck is Californian... the fact is that they all met in Athens when they started university, so the band's always presented as a Georgian band and none of them actually deny this. So, you're right, the BAND is from Athens, but only one of them has a Southern accent (as you can listen here, Michael's accent is a Midland accent)

They are such douches to people, fellow musicians and fans I can't even appreciate the music anymore. Great records, not nice people.
