  • @Jnk088 leftist thinking is great, communism is just an extreme take on things, which is never healthy. I personally prefer social democracy.

  • @24l25

When all else fails, we choose democracy..........kop out!!!!!

  • I think the Clash had a lot of fun making Sandinista.

They earned it. They ruled the punk scene for years, and made lots of great music.

This is their "Their Satanic Majesty's Request", or "Sgt. Pepper".

They went into the studio and let it all hang out. I enjoy all of it.

  • CLASH RULES ! <3

  • Thank you Thank for this posting. F-ing LOVE the Clash. Memories of happier days.

  • it is certainly the best Clash album

  • @thinklikeriver I like, but i still prefer london calling

  • great music should liberate the heart and mind as well as sound great. i grew up with the clash. theyve made me what i am today. politically aware, interested in the plight of all people everywhere. their significance is incredible

  • is the person singing backing vocals ellen foley?

  • It's amazing how they were considered a Punk band but were so ahead of all the other outfits.

This is a song that even Toots or someone similar would be proud to play. IMO, this is an even better LP than London Calling.

  • @degree7 Have you tried listening to the whole damn album, all 30 something song? It's a damn chore. It has a few gems, but it's not their greatest effort.

  • @RDBeatnik you kidding, right? Sandinista is there best! :D i could quite happily lisen through the album on a nice warm sunday evening :) each song is unique and differant to the last! great album!

  • The Clash forever!!

  • This song is so relevent even today, just that our "leaders" armories are feeled with other types of bullets to keep people under their seal!

  • Gosh it never fails the last verse always brings tears to my eyes thinking and listening to Joe sing this.

And check the british bullets in his ar-mour-reeeeeee- Sandinista,

    QUE!?

  • @dsdontsurf Imports mate. Imports. Tractor parts.

  • This is such a great written song by Joe Strummer, and of course Mick Jones arranged the music perfectly as always. I wish so badly he was still around. So much turmoil in the world right now. Where is the political commenting in our music nowadays. We need a good band to inform the youth about what is really going on in the world so they don't become brainwashed by all this crazy political propoganda going on in our country right now.

  • @lj6241 - There is. Rage Against The Machine. I myself have often thought about forming a band and calling it PROTEST and play nothing but protest songs. All the good ones that are relavant and the truth.

  • @lj6241 everyones already braeinwashed :( i tell them about wahts going on and they all think im crazy

  • es verdas

  • I've been interested in the Cold War as long as I can remember...I just don't know how I let the Sandinista album get by me. It is full of Cold War themed music...and I am in love with "Are you red...y?" great song :)

  • Joe and Mick were the greatest song writers, and they paid attention to world events......great song!

  • ..and yet again Washington bullets are used to kill protesters armed with sticks in the Med yesterday. Obama - Change we CANT believe in

  • Of course Obama being elected means that all of America's problems are solved overnight, thank god and country.

  • Musically, the Marimba makes this song.

  • fuck the whore washington.....

  • some of strummers best lyrics here

  • greatings from Chile

  • @acnepus joe strummer had chilean friends who came to england fleeing the oppressive regime.

  • it makes me sick, i wanna throw up how we act. i'm ashamed of how i personally live.

  • ¡¡¡Viva Víctor Jara Forever!!!

  • i like the marimba.

  • Please remember Victor Jara

    In the Santiago Stadium ....

    Malditas Washington Bullets

  • "Find an Afghan rebel that the Moscow bullets missed. Ask him what he thinks of voting communist." It says it all, really. The sad thing is, look what happened. And Moscow's gone from there -- they've been replaced -- and it's still happening and it gets worse for the people, especially the women, all the time.

  • Are you freaking kidding me? Joe Strummer was one of the best guitar players to ever live, and he was a good person too.

  • He was the man i could never be, im getting a joe strummer 1966 telecaster

  • he was left handed and was made to play right so he could only play all the strings at once or none at all hence the name "Joe Strummer"

  • @222thehobojoe

Actually, "Strummer" actually is his given name.

  • @SeraceCelerity No, his given name... from his parents is John Graham Mellor he was born in Ankara Turkey. Joe Strummer is a stage name he called himself this because he was a left handed person and he was taught to play right handed therefore he could only strum all the strings or none at all.

  • Moscows never gone from anywhere. It was washington bullets, crafted in the springfield armory in Boston Mass. helping the partisans (the maujadien, Bin Ladens people) fight the soviets in 79

Now its soviet made RPG-7s, AK-47s, firing bullets manufactured in the Kirov Heavy Armaments Factory in the Moscow District killing american soldiers.

If you start pulling bullets out of the dead in warzones around the world, they come from 1 of 3 places world wide.

Scary aint it? "Global community" eh?

  • clash ! inner city kids & new towners- punk & ska !

  • this song is about the greatest basketball team of all time

  • did they ever win anything?

    didn't think so....

  • Sandinista is such a good fucking album and the Clash are indescribable.

  • aye

  • heed the message

  • As every cell in Chile will tell

by the cries of the tortured men.

Remember Allende and the days before

    before the army came.

    Please remember Victor Jara

  • @Kurbisa what does "es verdad" mean anyway?
