  • There's a long hair hippie on your bumber!

  • I want a panel Syncro Vanagon badly.

  • im buying how much is to much?

  • Well as much as i would love to have a Synchro, they are not the best 4wd as they have too much weight in the rear,or should i state not enough weight up front as this video clearly shows.

  • @ghengisnghe if you were to do some research on the stock Syncro you would learn that it has perfect 50/50 balance....along with 1 ton load capacity and 2 ton towing capacity....no other underpowered 4x4 can claim that. the only Syncros with too much weight in the rear would be the ones that have been modified with a bigger engine.

  • vw are crap!german cars are crap! your an uneducated idiot i hate it when people try to sound like they understand a topic when its quite clear they do not.i used to drive a 77 audi fox 80 at the same time i had a 155hp 83 falcon my audi went faster and used alot less fuel petrol and it was only 1600 auto i was sold! the germans are the best engineers in the world and if i could find a synchro in aus my toyota 4wd would be gone in 5 minutes.audi #1 car in the world

  • @560287144602817

Syncro's are VW you dumb ass

  • Just ignore the ignorant. Some people just don't understand how incredible these VW T3 Syncro cars are! I have 2 Syncros, a high roof bus and a DoKa, and on the way to buy a Caravelle GL Syncro. For different uses.

They're fantastic and I love them.

If some people don't understand, then it's their loss.

Nothing beats the boxer sound (112 hp is enough) but if you should replace the engine - put in another boxer - like the Subaru EJ22 - great engines.

  • It may be sad and misguided but when your finished and want to see what you can do to a VW that others do with Jeep/Dodge/Ford and do the same thing and have a good time doing it the Funkingroovin Way, I think that's why people buy underpowered vws and then add power to learn what it is to build a vehicle that has power, and then buy a Ford!!lol also when people are bored they do incredible funny stuff -- just watch em --see what I mean!!lol

  • It's not about power. Gearing is the important thing. A Vanagon has about 90hp and an old Unimog 404 has about 80hp. Look for any unimog 404 videos you will see what I mean. Horsepower is often the inverse of the person talking about it.

  • I can't think of a ford van I'd ever want to drive that could do what a under powered Syncro could do

  • @moone924 right on

  • I really do fail to see why anyone would want to fuck around in an overated, underpowered and extremely boring thing like that... SAD!

  • You should have bought a landrover.

Not a piece of german SCRAP METAl.

  • you just degraded scrap metal. apologize to the scrap metal you bully.

  • haha you mean a FORDrover. at least if you roll an old VW you wont care.

  • I work on cars for a living, and you my friend are a complete fucktard. LandRover is THE biggest piece of shit known to man next to Dodge. Your basing your comment off of preference rather than knowledge or experience. Therefore your comment, and you are irrellevent... Goodluck with that LandRover/moneypit!ha

  • VWs arent any better my friend, infact they are worse, I have owned a few of them and all have been slow, ugly and extremely unreliable, and very overrated, VWs are rank fucking cars!!!!!!

  • These VWs are fucking shit, Ive owned a few of them over the years and all have been terrible, slow, ugly and generally overated!!! Id have a LR everytime!

  • must not be too bad if you owned a few of them (or you'er not to smart)

  • fuck you because syncros are one of the best family/offroad vehicles made in the time.

  • Is that a westfalia?

  • MORON

  • Ha I have rolled my van! totally over on its side! I know where they tip and I know where mine tips!

I had 3 adults in it and a kid. It was real close to tipping! Yes the video is long for not much content but hey it was my first post to you tube and I didn't know how to really edit stuff then... so sorry?

  • Flippin 'eck, what a performance, nowhere near rolling...

These things can go 40 degrees maybe a tad more

    Much Ado About Nothing ?

  • nice, but vans are NOT for offroad. They would roll too easily. But,you can try better tires, for offraoding and a higher suspension so You don't end up damaging the goodparts.

And the engine should be changed, but it would be expensive.

  • The syncro is an off-road van

  • The syncro owners manual specifically says something about this vehicle NOT being intended for off-roading, but that's just Volkswagen's disclaimer! It's impressive what these vans are actually capable of!

  • I can tell you have no idea what you're talking about

  • Happy days on syncro de mayo

  • With all those people there, why didn't you just all get out and push!

I saw a guy trying to get out of sand dunes for half an hour like this once, and 20 people all standing around watching. Finally they all gave him a push and he drove right out!

  • You need a better than like a 4+4 Jeep Like a defender. Not a hippy wagon!

  • a defender is a. crap and b. its too dull. Everyone has one.

Crawling terrain in a hippie van is cool ;-)

  • no its not, its sad and misguided!

  • the problem with the Syncro is it's poor articulation

    not to mention no hp

  • You're another person with no idea what you're talking about.

  • i like your van, but you should invest in better suspension :P, and it seems that ive notices ALMOST every old vw has almost no power in low-mid rpm :( im not dissin your ride though its still awesome

  • Must have been hard on the donk being caned at that angle... one wouldnt think 3 and 4 would be getting much oil around em. Meh... I want a SYncro! :)

  • My van is actually powered by a Zetec Motor from a ford focus. So none of the water boxer problems! Check out bostig on the net thats where it where the conversion was done.

  • Noice!... not really my kettle of fish as I am all for VW's remaining boxer-powered, but it's an interesting sounding conversion all the same... how is performance as compared with the 1.9L wasserboxer?

  • Biggest drawback on the syncro buses is that independant suspension that provides absolutely no suspension travel. Makes those buses extremely tippy offroad.

  • Had you shot this from the side, you would have been able to show how steep the slope was. From what you shot it made the Syncro look like a puss.

  • Gee ya know its hard to shoot the video while driving!!!

Uh I didn't shoot it, cause I'm driving!

  • Nice.

What no diff lock at front.

Yes more suspension travel is a good thing.

  • Yes there is a diff lock in the front and rear. There isn't enough clutch to handel the torque it was slipping bad with both diffs locked!

  • what a wimp just fuckin gun it and run down people and trees and cute little bunnys!!! who cares if ya flip, you'll just have a little dent -_-
