very dificult..he is too good ..but for me this is ugly theres notning that souds good or audible there .but I figure our he's just showing how fast he can play so he can play anithing.he wants..is as you see someone walking on a rope in the circus ..dificult take time to do that but nothing else..and pardom me for tell what I think.
I agree that the artist behind the scenes would sound far better if he weren't forcing the sound out to make it move faster. Considering what he's doing, his violin must have a very nice tone not to shriek at him as much as it should. *shudder*
@monster0129 hey, fuck head. Maybe not everyone knows how to distinguish which string should be used for any given pitch. I think this actor has done a phenomenal job.
@MegaCardone Hey buddy, why so angry? The question asked by xilent234 was not whether the actor did a good job or not. He/she merely enquired as to whether he was actually playing the piece. The answer is no, and the evidence is that he was playing on the wrong strings. For a layperson, I agree he did a fairly good job, and the effort put into that should be respected. Maybe your anger should be channelled into something constructive, like defenestrating yourself, you silly boy.
@BabyLightblue not really, no. I demand to know which comment are you refering to, because I'm pretty sure I haven't written anything that could make you accuse me of not knowing what good music is. or are you one of those who think comparing music to sex is insulting and simplistic?
OKAY IS THAT GUY ACTUALLY PLAYING THAT PIECE, OR IS IT A REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY WELL DONE COVER-UP!!!!! In the last ten seconds or so of the piece, you can see he shifts all the way up on the E- string. But the last note is higher than that note, and his hand is lower on the fingerboard. But the rest of it looks SOOOO FREAKING GOOOODDD to be a cover up!!!!!!!!!! (btw, at the end, paganini's 5th caprice anyone?!!)
This piece was composed by John Corigliano and performed in real life by the virtuoso Joshua Bell. The sheet music is available to order from the publishing company Shirmer. It's difficult, obviously, but there's a surprising amount of the music used in the movie in that book. Good luck!
@me2drescue yes, I'm pretty sure it's a full size violin... Otherwise it would really be too small for him ;) (even I have to play on a full size violin, and I'm not very tall at all :p)
@humbertsin1994 the title of the vid is the title of the song. It's from the sound track of a movie called The Red Violin (damn good movie u should watch it), it's called Pope's Concert

@21centurymagic oh i see! thanks for the clarification. i wiki-ed the movie after looking at this clip haha. i think i'd probably like this movie now that i'm older. but when i watched it when i was little it freaked me out, especially cuz my parents had rented it to motivate me to continue in violin haha (though they didn't know the detail about the blood beforehand)! it just made me want to play guitar even more!
In the scenes where Pope's back is turned to the camera, I think it's actually Joshua Bell in a wig. The technique is too good for Flemyng's limited faking abilities, and he's also moving his body in a very signature Joshua Bell way.
Probably an Eminem fan...What would you expect from musical illiterates??? I heard Joshua Bell play this LIVE with the Waco, Texas Symphony about 8 years ago. and the scenes from behind are jb actually playing!
